    Would be very interesting to see a 2nd version, where it is no set to maximize privacy but reasonable balance between convenience and privacy for the average user. So those user who will probably never in their life be the victim of a targeted attack but probably loose their phone once. So geo-tagged photos and screen time are perfectly fine features to use. But a good Passcode (8digits+) is still absolutely required etc.

I need a new phone as my iPhone 7 is slowly dying and was wondering if i should go for the new 12 or wait for the 13 with the fingerprint sensor under the display (according to rumors).

    I dug the future and past Sun haha. Its a seamless way to backtrack and include stuff you may have forgotten in the shoot. Keep this in your arsenal Sun cause that is a way more efficient and proactive way to minimize how many times you may or may not have to redo a shoot. My very first podcast that I did in 2005, I must have redone the audio over 20x and it took me almost a month to get my first one out. I like how you handled this.
    Anyway thanks for the refresher on my iPhone settings. I tend to monitor my phone settings like location and app refresh cause I'm a battery loveN freak but yeah when I watched this and looked at some of my settings I was like YIKES when did this turn on. Thanks for this its always good to be reminded to check such things. Great episode.

    • @sunknudsen
      @sunknudsen  4 года назад +1

      Hey Ben, efficiency is so important. I initially shot these episodes in 4K and the process was painful. Over the past few months, I have spent a reasonable amount of time optimizing the process to make it as effortless as possible. About your first podcast, feel you! Somehow we want things to be perfect which requires a new camera or mic or __________ before we are "ready". Took me a year to publish my first video (the DJI one), then about 6 more months to publish the second (the T2 chip one).

    Hi Sun, what are your thoughts on iOS jailbreaks? I use a few simple tweaks that actually disable the wifi and bluetooth on the control center when u press it, unlike the default that doesn't actually disable it. Safe, unsafe?

    • @sunknudsen
      @sunknudsen  3 года назад +1

      Hey Stephen, I never jaibreaked an iPhone so I can't add value here. That being said, I guess it depends on who is behind the jailbreak... if the patch is open source and peer reviewed, I don't see how breaking out from iOS limitations can hurt... My gut feeling is we might be trading security for privacy (and freedom). Depending on the use case, the trade-offs can be well worth it.

    When you said to disable siri suggestions in notifications you didn't mention why and what users will loose. as I undertand it track what you do all the time and logs it based on location and time, so if you every morning like to read your Bible in Bible app, it will first suggest Bible app in spotlight, or will popup suggestion to call your brother if its his birthday. That info, I presume, is held locally, so does that have impact on privacy? While screen time - it shared accross devices (optionally), if it its enabled, then it definitely sends usage to cloud

We start talking the most time about insurance is car insurance no problem in a Google news after a day or two is just show up news and whatever about the insurances so everything you talk on your iPhone is still connected to Google Google is huge.
