Just finished our first vacation here in Pensacola, we stayed here off of A street. It looked sketchy but it turned out very nice. We visited the beach everyday. Loved it here in May and met very nice people here of all colors. Thank you city of Pensacola 😊
I moved to Pensacola from Los Angeles and like it very much. I was not expecting people to be so friendly and it feels more relaxing as a place to live. There is enough variety of restaurants and shopping plsces. They have high end and low end restaurants. Also compared to Miami Pensacola is close to Alabama so you can feel and experience the southern hospitality. When I moved into my home the cars driving by on my street would wave hello! In L.A. half the folks there don't care about your problems, the other half are glad you have them. Also the beaches are to die. I have been around the world and think these beaches are as good as the islands in the Philippines and Thailand. Also No biteing sand flys! Sand stays cool under the sun, water is clear. The only thing I noticed and it's a strange one in LA the fast food drive through places have very friendly people that work the window and as service people inside, maybe they are trained that way Like at In and Out Burger and Chic Falay all the staff are super friendly, but in Pensacola I don't see that, I don't know where they find their employees. I was going to Lowes and Home Depot every day to buy things for my new home and always fell into a conversation with the folks inside, customers and workers very layed back. I also do lke the change of weather and the fact that it rains hard. In LA everyday is the same.

I live in Clearwater. Fl and I have to say, it is much more humid and hot in Pensacola than it is here even though Clearwater is much further south. On the other hand, the traffic is much lighter than it is in a lot of other cities in Florida. Pensacole traffic is light compared to here in Clearwater or Tampa/St. Petersburg area.
born and raised local and ive found quite a few good authentic food places. what you wanna look for are the hole in the wall places, they normally have some rlly good food. one of my favorite places is actually this little drive thru shack place (it looks sketchy but its fine) called Tops, they sell good burgers and tater tots!
I have been coming to Pensacola Beach since I was a toddler in the late sixies!! My Dad always took me and my 6 siblings there every year. Now I still vacation there as an adult. I've always said if a beautiful beach is what you want you don't need to go any further in Florida than Santa Rosa Island. I would love to retire there soon. It has been fun watching all of the changes in the area since the 60's. Wow!
I have lived here my whole life, but have traveled extensively. Pensacola has changed in many ways and has stayed the same in many ways. It is a town that is growing but is resistant to change. The locals want to keep a small town feel, but the growth is relentless. Crime has become an increasing problem across the country, and Pensacola is no exception. There are efforts being made to modernize our downtown, but the crime heavy parts of town are in need of work. I would avoid west Pensacola. It really is a lost cause. Stay away from places near the interstates as well to avoid the drugs and homeless population. Pensacola is a tale of two cities. On one side is the touristy highlights, and the other is the poor and crime. Stick to the east side of town and downtown. After midnight, downtown can be dangerous. Pensacola is growing and has growing pains. They need to address the crime problem and embrace modern city realities. It is a medium sized town trying to come off as a small town. I love Pensacola, and will remain here, but I am ready for this town to accept that it is growing and want it to embrace that growth and lose the small town mentality. It needs to be managed for what it is and not what the locals wish it to be. We got problems here that need serious attention.
Let's add a con here; the west side of town is still to this day a shit hole. It was thirty years ago when I was stationed at NAS Pensacola and still is today. Way too many slum lords on that side of town.
Love to see the hustle Martez. Great production quality for your videos. Disagree with the cons on traffic and food options though. Relatively speaking, the only time you run into traffic is going from Pensacola out to Pensacola Beach but that is really only from the months of May through Labor day. Also depends on what time you decide to venture out to the beach. With the new tolling system on the beach, the traffic is way better. But if I had to guestimate, I would say my normal travel time from my house, in Warrington, to my spot on the beach, which is about 8 blocks past the fire-station, is 30-45 minutes. Not counting if there is a wreck on 3-mile. But for the majority of the year, it's smooth sailing out there. Food-wise, don't disagree with how late things are open, that is definitely a con. But you can find authentic mom and pop shops for various ethnicities but they exists on the west-side of the Pensacola area. Mainly Warrington and Brownsville. They do exist in other areas of Pensacola, but since they are such a small operation, they don't exactly market themselves well. So you got to hunt for them a bit. A great group I'd recommend to finding these smaller niche places is the Pensacola Foodies Facebook group. That being said, overall great video and I'll hit ya up next time I'm ready to purchase my next property. Cheers!
We moved to Pensacola in 1979 and I went to school there, and university. I left to California in 2003, visiting FLA sporadically - my mom still lives nearby. The traffic is outrageous now compared to when I was going to college - it's truly awful. Downtown parking is ridiculously expensive thanks to just one company scooping up so many lots and turning them into paid parking.
Born an raised in Pensacola but still wanted to watch u got just bout everything but the high prices on the housing market an cars, and theirs lots of history but nice video
Thank you for this video ! I am from Dallas Tx, texas is home but I want to be around nature more. Dallas is perfect for city living but a lot of people are moving in from Cali and it’s getting overpopulated . I was thinking Austin but it’s a lot pricey there. But I never thought about moving by the beach! This might be the place 🤞🏻
Hey! I am in Pensacola right now but I live in Austin. Austin is extremely overpopulated, especially with all the California people. I don't recommend it
I’m from Louisiana, and I’ve lived here for 2 years. I have to agree heavily on the FOOD! There’s lots of your basic fast food restaurants here, but a very small amount of nearby authentic style foods. Seafood is not near as appetizing here as Louisiana. We had lots of seafood restaurants in La, and they were all wonderful. I’ve yet to find a seafood restaurant here in Fl that impresses me. I thought moving here would mean more food options but most days, I am disappointed in the choices we have here. This video was great, very honest, and accurate!
I feel you have nailed it right on the head amd you were very accurate. I am from PNS and have been lived there about 50 yrs and now live in Athens Ga. Our beaches are the prettiest in ALL of Florida … fact
I’m from GA moving to Pensacola too. I’m excited, but a bit nervous because I don’t know what to expect. I know God is calling me to do it, but in all honesty, I’m from Atlanta so I’m a bit nervous about diversity there. I’m glad I found your video, which has eased my mind a bit about the diversity 😅. Thanks again.
I’m from Atlanta too!!!!!!!! I live in Raleigh NC right now and plan to move to move to Pensacola by July!!! I’m toooo excited 😊 have you moved yet @beautifulheights? If so, fill me in. I’ve been looking at the apartment options and being bouchée doesn’t really help. Their apartments options are gross compared to what I’ve seen in the A and Raleigh. If you sample upon some new apartments let me know. I’ve only seen 2 communities … so sad. But I’m still excited 😆
@@funkneetube heyyy! I moved in February and LOVEEEEE IT. Legit almost everyday feels like a vacation😂! There’s a lot more of us here than I was expecting, and it’s very diverse partly due to the naval base nearby. There are plenty nice communities here. I’m a lil bougie 🤑 too girl and I’m pretty satisfied with where I’m at. I’ll email you a list of nice apartments. Just drop your email! MAKE THE MOVE YOU WONT REGRET IT.
Honestly this city depends how old you are if your gonna love it or not. Being 20 years old there's not a lot to do but if your older your gonna love it. So some cons were pros and vice versa.
I get that. If you’re clubbing or party kind of person then it’s gonna be rough for someone younger. Seville, The Beach, bowling, gallery night, and the vegan joints are things I like here but to someone else that can be boring lol.
I'm a nervous older lady ( lol ) from Tallahassee. I love NW Florida having done summers in Chipley and Bonifay ( woo hoo exciting! ) but I don't think I could take the military planes flying over all the time. Niceville gets on my rickety old nerves too. Can't take the noise! But I do like to go over there as much as I can. I love the style of homes in Pensy and Crestview too.
I've always said people from Georgia move to pensacola and people from pensacola move to Georgia. I was born and raised in Georgia in a town 20 minutes west of Atlanta and ended up living about 40 minutes from pensacola. One of my good friends was born in Milton he moved to my home town where we met years later he ended up moving back to pensacola cause his family moved back. My family decided to move near pensacola cause my grandfather lived in pace and my mom wanted to be near her father so years later I moved from Georgia to near pensacola and have been here since.
As a born and raised local I was just waiting for him to say something stupid. But he never did. Agree with a lot of things you said. Definitely didn't cover all the pros and cons but, covered a lot of the main points
@@louie2basednr932 yes....I was raised there and moved away as an adult. The racism is somewhat covert (not openly displayed or acknowledged) but there are a lot of country white conservative people there.
I lived in Pensacola my whole life and finally moved away at 20 years old and I’m like really missing home man lol it’s legit my home, it’s just hits different. But also driving to Destin and flying out that airport is a lot cheaper than NoLa. IFY
Thanks for the video brother also Florida is the best state to live in it has the best weather and the best beaches in the nation also it has a lot of wonderful nature
as of today (4/2022) the place is too expensive. I am from WA, explored it for a week or so, my conclusion was nice place to live, good weather but more good spot (close to the beaches are super expensive), even out of state like me (WA housing is crazy like California) still consider this place is to expensive. But the very very important thing: not a lot of work, you can't do much if you have no income. If you look at the stats, people were excited to move there and resell their properties in just a short few years. That is not good.
I moved there 2 years ago. The black people are very strange and no sense or care of other peoples property lines, or drive ways. My 26 year old daughter HATES it. We are from the ATL.
I moved here from Pennsylvania. It’s a hell of a lot better here. And you can do a lot of things within a 3 hour drive. New Orleans is only 2 1/2 hours. There is much more to do here than Pa. And it’s 3 generations moved here. Schoolage, 30’s, and late 50’s.
I’m sorry but leaving crime infested NYC where you have to fear getting robbed or pushed onto the NYC subway tracks, Pensacola sounds like a dream to me.
I went to middle school and high school here and this place legit sucks. I had to move during college cause every time my friends go out, it was always the same 3 main bars that people go to when bar hopping. It felt like I was stuck in an endless loop. I still have family here so I still visit them on occasions and when I'm in town to hangout with my friends, it's always just going to downtown going to the same 3 bars. lot of people do drugs too.
Thank You for the video. It would be great if you provided videos on different neighborhoods / areas. How is the job market? Diversity? School districts? I am considering moving there
We, ère in Pensacola vacationing for a week. We are from Western Missouri. A nice clean place and friendly locals. Wonderful downtown all together. The cons: It is very spread out therefore, Not a walkable community. Dangerous to cycle there due to too many cars and drivers going too fast and not paying attention. Public transit seems skeletal. No streetcars nor light rail. Also, the Amtrak Sunset Limited service stopped in 2005 due to Katrina. Certainly not a place where to retire to and live car free.
best sand in the world? go visit Boracay in the Philippines. finest white sand you will ever see, water is so clear where you can see fishes while you walk in the water.
Martez, this was a really good honest video about Pensacola. Really great information! I’ll be in contact you with if I sell my home or look to get other properties. Thank you for this!
I'm currently in the Atlanta area, originally from Alabama Gulf Coast (Mobile.) I'm making plans to move to Pensacola to be close to my grownup kids and grandkids. 👍🏾
The only thing I have to say when it comes to authentic food. This is the city of 5 flags. The culture diversity is amazing. Make friends from many different cultures and you will have authentic food. I have Korean friends, Filipino friends, Thai friends, Vietnamese friends, Mediterranean friends, friends from Mexico, friends from Italy, etc. I never have any issues finding real authentic food. I also have been here since I was 15 and can give you little hole in the wall places where you can also have authentic food.
Everything he said in this video is facts! 💯🎯 There’s nothing there besides the beach, seafood, and Whataburgerrrrrrrr lol. The job market sucks there! The public school system is meh, depending on which school. Those moving there from Atlanta don’t expect to find something to do all the time. It’s slower than Atlanta. The traffic isn’t bad like in Atlanta. I moved to Sandy Springs from Pensacola for abt 6 years, then recently moved to the Bay Area in FL. Crab Island in Destin is dope. Gallery Night is fun though! I wouldn’t stay in Mayfair, Montclair, Warrington, and Shantytown. I def would NOT 🚫 stay in the apartment complexes called Oakwood Terrace, Warrington Village and Pensacola Village. Matter of fact just stay away from them 3 😂😂 I’d do East Hill, Downtown Historic District, Perdido Key (not really Pensacola though), and the Scenic area. Overall Pensacola is cool! 😊☺️
PNS is not expensive at all. If you fly with American Airlines, you can literally get to dallas for 120 bucks, then you can fly anywhere you want. So what you said about PNS being more expensive is false. Also, the parking is cheap at the airport, cheaper than NOLA and you would spend more money in gasoline and wear and tear going to nola and back. So yeah, not true about the airport. In fact, PNS is a really awesome airport for the area. I use it all the time with American airlines, super inexpensive!!
I was born in Pensacola and moved away when I was 14 to Orlando, now I have been back for about 15 years and that was for my (at the time) young kids. And everything you have just described is the truth. But you forgot to say how racist and high crime this city has become. Also highly expensive with no competitive wages. So a person or family had better have a plan and a real passion to live out the rest of your life in Pensacola Florida cause local people can probably cut on one hand how often we really get to see the Beaches or anything that would attack someone here. Don't mean to be Debbie downer but if you know, well you just know 😢
I'm moving here after college or somewhere close by in this area! With that being said I got 2 questions for you bro. 1.) Should i wait til the housing market gets better to move here and be stable and comfrotable. 2.) What is the job market REALLY REALLY LIKE HERE? My major is Mortuary Science. And what do they pay salary wise?
While I can't predict if the housing market will get better, I can tell you that the cost of housing is far more expensive than what the wages support for that area. If you do find something affordable, it's probably gonna be crappy housing. When you really explore Pensacola, you will find they have a lot of shoddy looking neighborhoods. The job market there sucks, unless you work in healthcare (RNs/Drs), work at Navy Federal, or are in the military. For context, when I was living there, with a degree I was making anywhere from $10-$15/hr. I randomly applied for a job in another city and got hired doing the same thing for $22/hr. Fast forward 6 years later and I'm making 6 figures. Most of the people I grew up with there who got degrees have not returned to Pensacola because they make a better living and have a higher quality of life elsewhere. Also the racism....it's very covert but if you take a look at the comments on WEAR Pensacola News Facebook....you will get an idea of how they really feel. Very conservative, country, and racist.
Thanks! Very informative. I'm moving there and it's nice to know the pros and cons.
It sounds good to me.

Damn thats more straight forward then this video almost when it comes 2 the culture of Pensocola
What a great honest account of the area. Thank you for your insights!!
How’s the police department? Being a military town, they should have pretty good recruiting pool.
Because of the laws a realtor has to be careful what they say
I really enjoyed your video, great information
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Let's add a con here; the west side of town is still to this day a shit hole. It was thirty years ago when I was stationed at NAS Pensacola and still is today. Way too many slum lords on that side of town.
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
I see how it’s a dump everywhere in Pensaocla besides downtown and east hill.
THE CITY sure doesn't give a rats ass if anything changes, do they ?
THAT tells you a lot, crooked govt full of thieving rednecks- BAD IDEA
moving to Florida for aerospace engineering job, whats best place to be with family in Florida
Check out my best neighborhoods video.
BEST PLACE is ANY OTHER STATE
Love to see the hustle Martez. Cheers!
Thanks man! I'm looking forward to it!
This was a very helpful video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
It’s nothing to do there the best thing I did was move to Hallandale beach am close to Hollywood beach and Miami hole different lifestyles.
That's completely true and I wanted to stress that. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
And California is any better? 🤦♀️ That is like me comparing NY to Florida. There is no comparison. I can’t wait to get out of here!!
@@monicae67 yes it is better Florida is landfill
Born an raised in Pensacola but still wanted to watch u got just bout everything but the high prices on the housing market an cars, and theirs lots of history but nice video
Thank you for this video ! I am from Dallas Tx, texas is home but I want to be around nature more. Dallas is perfect for city living but a lot of people are moving in from Cali and it’s getting overpopulated . I was thinking Austin but it’s a lot pricey there. But I never thought about moving by the beach! This might be the place 🤞🏻
No thank you for the support! If I can help in anyway please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Hey! I am in Pensacola right now but I live in Austin. Austin is extremely overpopulated, especially with all the California people. I don't recommend it
I’m in Fort Worth but from MS. I want to be closer to home & thinking about Pcola in 2 years.
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
I suggest trying Shannon's Seafood on Pine Forest Road. Pretty great!
Moved to Pensacola from Georgia two years ago. Love it, but the humidity is so much higher. Thick hot is a great way to put it.
I feel you have nailed it right on the head amd you were very accurate. I am from PNS and have been lived there about 50 yrs and now live in Athens Ga. Our beaches are the prettiest in ALL of Florida … fact
Thanks a lot! Thanks for watching the supporting the channel!

No doubt lol I completely understand your nervousness! If you need any help with in regards to the move don’t hesitate to reach out 🙌🏽

Honestly this city depends how old you are if your gonna love it or not. Being 20 years old there's not a lot to do but if your older your gonna love it. So some cons were pros and vice versa.
I agree 1000%! Thanks so much for watching!

I've noticed that myself lol Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
Not just Pensacola but Florida in general
Really informative video. Well done.

Is it best beach area in northern Florida
In my opinion yes!
I lived in Pensacola my whole life and finally moved away at 20 years old and I’m like really missing home man lol it’s legit my home, it’s just hits different. But also driving to Destin and flying out that airport is a lot cheaper than NoLa. IFY
Yes, everything was accurate, when we were visiting at the time

Thanks for the video brother also Florida is the best state to live in it has the best weather and the best beaches in the nation also it has a lot of wonderful nature
Couldn't agree more!
super helpful, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
as of today (4/2022) the place is too expensive.
Thanks for commenting 🙏🏽
Pensacola is cheap move to st.pete you will see high
So move here and become an entrepreneur. Start up something you see lacking in the town. Duh.
Pensacola has gotten expensive. I was planning to move last year, but the rent too damn high.
I moved there 2 years ago. The black people are very strange and no sense or care of other peoples property lines, or drive ways. My 26 year old daughter HATES it. We are from the ATL.
I fly out of fwb/Destin. I live in Navarre though

Lived there for 18 years... Seasons...well hot as blazes and bone chilling cold... as for spring and fall they last about two weeks..
The biggest drawback to me is everything looks so run-down everything
Growing up in Pensacola I always describe it as a retirement city

I’m sorry but leaving crime infested NYC where you have to fear getting robbed or pushed onto the NYC subway tracks, Pensacola sounds like a dream to me.
I went to middle school and high school here and this place legit sucks. I had to move during college cause every time my friends go out, it was always the same 3 main bars that people go to when bar hopping. It felt like I was stuck in an endless loop. I still have family here so I still visit them on occasions and when I'm in town to hangout with my friends, it's always just going to downtown going to the same 3 bars. lot of people do drugs too.
you're saying - IT'S BORING ! I get it

Yes Panama City is great too🙏🏾
What about things to do in Mobile, Alabama?
We, ère in Pensacola vacationing for a week. We are from Western Missouri. A nice clean place and friendly locals. Wonderful downtown all together. The cons: It is very spread out therefore, Not a walkable community. Dangerous to cycle there due to too many cars and drivers going too fast and not paying attention. Public transit seems skeletal. No streetcars nor light rail. Also, the Amtrak Sunset Limited service stopped in 2005 due to Katrina. Certainly not a place where to retire to and live car free.
I lived there 12 yrs had to get out back to michigan.

💯🎯
There’s nothing there besides the beach, seafood, and Whataburgerrrrrrrr lol.

Thanks for the comment
Prices are high rn but once commy xiden is dead or gone, back to normalized prices lol
My city! but I dont live there anymore.

Don't mean to be Debbie downer but if you know, well you just know 😢
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!

@@labortechs5661 it's called the REDNECK RIVIERA for a reason !
I'd rather live in a BLUE area , I think Tallahassee is better, being a college town
Is this still true? Racism? And also how diverse is this city?
