      BreeAnn Barbie I’m 3 months in and at first I’ve been using epsom salt mixed with water and would spray it on my piercing 4 times a day and wash. My puss has become a darker greener but it doesn’t hurt, smell, and it’s not swollen. But just the puss color has changed. And I recently changed from epsom salt to natural sea salt.

    +Sydney Dawn WHY would you pierce it yourself and with a safety pin none the less?! When I get bored, I go for walks, not stick saftey pins in my body. Take it out, clean it and go to a professional. Hope it's not infected!!

    i just got my nose pierced today. you're probably one of my favorite youtubers simply because you care a lot about helping others and informing people and that's rare these days. most youtubers just care about money. thank you sm for all ur info and support.

    +Michelle Cruz More then likely you have a keloid (hypertrophic scar) no it's not an infection. You def shouldn't be popping it. Use tea tree oil directly on the bump 2-3 times a week and give it time to heal. :)

    +Bianca Taylor Sounds like you're having a flare up. I would ice it or apply a hot compress to help with the swelling and do hot sea salt soaks. What you're experiencing is very normal for a piercing that got pulled on.

    I love these videos because they're so accurate. Hydrogen Peroxide supposedly dries out piercings but it's never messed up any of mine.

  • @BreeAnn823
    @BreeAnn823  9 лет назад +6

    +Trissi Mara It could be rejecting or infected. Have you accidentally caught it on anything?
    Do hot sea salt soaks and keep a close eye on it. :)

  • @BreeAnn823
    @BreeAnn823  10 лет назад

    +Ashley Young It doesn't sound infected to me however the bump that you're experiencing is totally normal. Keep taking care of it and give it time and it should heal. That's all I can really say.

      what can you put on newly pierced nipples that had a reaction to the metal? I am very sensitive, and I don't think my piercer used stainless steel, and I started to get pus. So, I took out that piercing. But still sore. I am doing salt water, but also putting Neosporin. What can I use instead? Thank you so very much!

    +Joselyn Reyes Nope, that means it's cleaning the area when it bubbles. :)

  • @BreeAnn823
    @BreeAnn823  10 лет назад +3

    @Jessica Darling That sounds like it could be scar tissue on the back (mine has something similar) and the front one sounds like a Keloid and unfortunately there isn't a way to 110% get rid of it because it's your body's reaction to the piercing. You can use sea salt soaks and tea tree oil (highly recommend) to help ease down the bump. The best thing to do would be to not pick at it or try to pop. Just do those things and it should go down. Sometimes they go away, and sometimes they just keep coming back. I had that same problem with my nose piercing and I changed to a higher quality metal and I haven't had one since.

    +D Bobby Everything you're telling me sounds normal as far as it healing. Try to clean it every morning and every night before you go to bed. H2Ocean is fine and it's quick! Also try to do deep sea salt soaks at least 1-2 times a week. That will really help and your piercing will appreciate it.

  • @BreeAnn823
    @BreeAnn823  9 лет назад +9

    +Yadira Rivera I would do sea salt soaks for about a week and if it doesn't get better I would go back and have your piercer take a look at it.

      i noticed my belly piercing had green puss which means infection but I don't get why I been taking good care of it, I clean twice a day, I don't touch it unless I'm cleaning and I never go swimming cause I know it could risk getting infected. So I don't get ☹️

      My bellybutton was by far my worst piercing to heal. It's just in a location where it moves a lot (like, when you sit down and your tummy rolls over a little bit....). There are just some factors out of your control. Mine took over a year to heal to a point where I was comfortable with changing it. I recommend keeping up with a good cleaning routine. Try doing sea salt soaks if you aren't already. If you are, you might want to check the amount of salt you are adding because too much can definitely irritate the piercing. I also use Dr. Bronner's castille soap (the baby one because it is not scented) to clean my piercings and they have healed excellently! Best of luck

    +rebecca bal That is very OBVIOUSLY a myth. My teeth and tongue ring DO NOT ever meet with each other, the piercing never touches it, ever. Unless I make it touch my teeth. My dentist says I have perfect teeth and that my piercings are not affecting them.

  • @BreeAnn823
    @BreeAnn823  10 лет назад

    +Hailey Roth When you're constantly putting it in and taking it out it can get a little irritated and those things can happen, yes. My Monroe gets that way too if I play with it too much. Try to limit the amount of times you change it and clean it every time it bleeds, etc.

    Thank you for this video, it was very helpful! I put in my nose piercing about 2 weeks ago, and it seemed to be healing fine, but when I changed it from a stud to a ring, it started to develop pus, became more red and is very swollen on the inside, and some skin on the outside has peeled off as well. Will be trying your method for the next two weeks, hopefully it heals well!

    Very well informed video! And I am with you on the whole hydrogen peroxide thing, but the reason why piercers tell people not to use it for cleaning specifically, is because it will actually keep the wound open instead of letting it heal. But otherwise I have never had a problem with it and I have multiple piercings like you :) Love your videos, keep them coming please!

    hi breeann barbie! i recently got my belly button repierced for the third time. anyways its been a little over a week now and the first 6 days it was amazing, i felt absolutely nothing. and just yesterday/today i noticed it was a bit sore and i see a red bump just in between the two balls. its not a keloid, its just a bit pink and slightly raised. and there is a bit of pussing (not green or smelly) and crusting. im just so worried its rejecting or infected. i watched three of your videos but i still can't decide whats going on.
    p.s. I've been working out quite hard, do you think maybe thats why theres a red bump? because it is aggravated ?
    please help!! thank you!!!

    • @cabitsuchild9700
      @cabitsuchild9700 7 лет назад +1

      Brea 18 tbh that's a sign that it's infected so just do what she recommends and just clean it as regularly as possible, I personally don't believe you should squeeze it unless it gets larger, but maybe not squeeze this is gunna sound gross but getting a sanitised needle(put it in seawater and boiling hot water for a while) and try prodidng it if it burst after a little pressure clearly it needed to come out but if it's solid don't aggravate it and continue to clean and finally after a week or so you see no changes definitely go to thto doctor you don't want to let it get so bad it needs to be surgically removed I hope this helps but I'm not a professional by far so I can only roughly help (I'm only 15 I am in no way experienced)

    I have pretty good medical knowledge of how to care for and clean wounds and take care of infections, but since I feel like piercings are a bit different for follow up care, I thought I'd ask just in case. I like to use rubbing alcohol to sanitize my piercings regularly as well as clean the areas because I'm ok with it and can stand the minor stinging.
    Gruesome Storytime! :
    My nose piercing was infected for a little bit, but I think it's gone away. It feels a bit sore, but doesn't feel like there's pressure like when a bit of yellowish puss would come out. I've been cleaning it regularly and even cut away the infected tissue at the top with a sanitized angled nail clipper. I've continued cleaning it, and while I take my piercing out to clean it thoroughly, I let it sit in the rubbing alcohol so it's disinfected as well. I was going to ask if it's normal for there to still be swelling on all the piercings though, because I figured that it's part of the healing, but I'm not sure.
    Nose Background:
    I used to change out my nose piercing regularly a little less than a week after I got it - basically whenever I felt like it - because the ball on the top of the starter I received got lost and I had to replace it immediately, but only could find small piercings to buy in the mall I was at. I didn't clean the piercings before because I didn't think about it, but when it got infected, I bought the rubbing alcohol to clean and sanitize every piercing before I put it in, including the cartilages.
    Cartilages:
    One of the cartilages is bleeding a little and the other seems to be healing just fine. I decided to start changing the cartilages because I knew and could feel that I needed to thoroughly clean them more than just swabbing around them with the ear care solution that Pagoda Piercing gave me, but every time I took them out, since they had the pointy ends (because they were still the starter earrings that they actually pierce with), I would end up scratching up the inside trying to get it through the hole properly.
    Current Care:
    I clean my piercings (nose - side, not septum (pierced May 29, '15), and two cartilages (both around April 17, '15) ) with isopropyl alcohol about ever other day. While I clean the pierced area, if I feel I need to remove the piercing to clean around the area better (which is about once a week), I take the piercings that I removed and place them in a well of an old contact case that I fill and use to hold the rubbing alcohol in. I sanitize everything I use with the rubbing alcohol before it touches any part of the pierced area or the piercings, including my fingertips and the tips of the tweezers I use to pick up the piercings. When I clean the area, I swab it as best I can, both sides, with a clean cotton swab soaked in the rubbing alcohol.
    To clarify, here are my questions:
    1) Is it normal for swelling to happen as the piercings heal?
    2) Will the swelling on my nose go down so that when it heals, I can wear the shorter/smaller bone-style piercings?
    3) About how long does it take each to fully heal?
    4) Am I taking good care of my piercings?
    I'm sorry this comment is so long, but I just wanted to be as clear and thorough as possible when asking.

    The Ear Stretching Network on facebook is a really large group that has a lot of similar info! They explain a lot on why certain things aren't good for piercings or healing ones and materials and whatnot! Not sure if you'd be interested but the knowledge there is limitless, and the people are great!

    Carrie Xie It could be irritated from working out but what I would do personally is get a second opinion from your piercer. That way they'll be able to look closely at it and be able to tell better. :)

    My piercer was supposed to give me and my two sisters a paper on how to clean and care for our piercings, she didn't give them to us and just told us to clean them with sea salt water for 6-8 weeks. That's all she told us.

    Peroxide isn't something you should use to clean a healthy piercing but using it on an infection for a couple days isn't going to do any harm. I had such struggle with my navel piercing. it got infected so many times after the first couple I got fed up and I'd use rubbing alcohol for a couple days cleared the infection and did no damage. I've had the piercing for 7 years and all's good.

    Not all yellow/green "crusties" are signs of infection. Personally, my cartilage piercings (I have 4: tragus, conch, helix & forward helix) had yellowish crusties and my piercer said it was normal. No infection, and they all healed fine.

    About 7-8 months ago, I got my Cartilage/helix peircing done with a gun at Piercing Pagoda in the mall. It was fine until my cartilage piercing started turning black and letting out yellowy pus and the cartilage is swollen months later. I have been to 2 doctors so far and am going to another one Tuesday. My doctor told me to take out my earring and it has been out for 2 months about. I have gotten antibiotics and the second time on antibiotics worked at first but not all of the way, so when I was done with them my ear went back to its infected stage. I have been doing sea salt soaks with 1 cup of hot water and 1/4 tsp. of sea salt. That kind of works but not very well because my cartilage is not looking any better. It is a clear fluid that comes out of my ear now, no yellow pus. My mom refuses to take me to a professional piercing parlor to get my ear checked out, and one doctor said I might need surgery. I want to know if there is anything I can do at home to try and fix my ear. And if you truly recommend coming into a shop wven though my mom insists we don't. And the earring that I wore was some type of white gold, I think. Please help with any feedback. Thank You

      It may have been white gold plated. I personally would go to a shop and have it looked at.

    yeah, definitely the equipment part. i had my cartilage pierced when i was like 11 and thought claire's piercings were good when they used a gun. it got badly infected. every time i even turned the earring, it bled. and yes this was a while after I got it pierced. then it healed and got infected. again. it swelled wayyyyyy up and was painful as hell. moral of the story - don't get piercings with guns.

    This video was not what I expected, infections are really serious and people can even die from them. Within one day of seeing any signs my whole ear has swollen up, and I've had an emergency appointment with a doctor who prescribed double antibiotics and is sending me to the hospital to get it tested.
    I've also had to lose four piercings.
    If you have an infection please go to a doctor instead of waiting "two weeks".

    I chose the wrong place, they were next to my job . They didn't prepare me, even though I watched tons of videos and did my research. I wasn't prepared enough with the difference in infection from healing. I thought it might have been infected so I think I messed with it too much. I should have let it heal . I've wanted it for years but I did go to the tattoo piercing salon on a whim !
    Always get a recommendation.

    Hey BreeAnn! Listen, I had a question. I'm 16 years old and I have two piercings. One nose piercing and a lip piercing. My father has no problem with my piercing but with my mom its a bit of a different story. See she supports me because she knows that having piercing making me happy. But she has a habit of making comments about my piercing. She will say things like:
    "Don't you think you have enough already?"
    "When you get a job. There not going to hire you because of those things in your face."
    "What's the point of having a piercing if your going to take it out"
    "Don't you think your a little too young for this?"
    The list goes on and on. Honestly; it sometimes hurts my feelings when she says things like this. Maybe I'm just being a baby about it. I know she's just looking out for me but it just sucks sometimes you know?
    I was just wondering if I could get some advice. Anyway, have a lovely day!
    By the way, I love you and your video! 💕🌸

    Funny thing is I had the Monroe over 12 years ago and they never told me to clean it. I took it out. They never told me to clean my eyebrow piercing, had that 15 years ago. It rejected it. Had my belly pierced 9 years ago, they never told me to clean it. None of those I have any longer.

    When I got my first belly button piercing it was rejected, so I took it out and it left a scar. I recently (about 2 weeks ago) went to a piercing shop and asked a professional piercer if it was okay to get it pierced again and she said absolutely. A week after I got it pierced the entire scar became purple so the skin between the balls is purple. I was wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned? I tried contacting my piercer because she said to do so if I had concerns and have had no luck, so unprofessional of them :(
