    Such an identifiable song...The feeling of unlimited potential, the weight of the world creeping on you and taking you out, and the renewal of faith and hope through the grace and goodness of Jesus Christ. Can't help but cry almost every time I hear this song. ;)

      Favorite lyric - Dear God increase. What I interpret is that he is asking God to increase in himself because he knows he can not do it on his own. Faith isn't done without God : )

      Lots of music is bad, but the reason most people make music for God is because they know God in a way that is relational which is how God wants us to know instead of religion. So, instead of praising God because we have to, we sing and express our gratitude and we want to tell others about this great love God has for us, the (only) God (that created all things which is undeniable) who became a human and died a terrible death that signified Him taking our penalties for sin that we have done on this earth so we wouldn't have to worry about religion, which means you have to be perfect to go to heaven which no man can ever be perfect and God is perfect and God is just and will now allow sin because sin IS BAD and all sin leads to death. Imagine if heaven had liars and cheats and people who were immorally corrupted. No way Jose. But that is besides the point. We are so filled with joy from knowing so much greatness that comes from God that never ends, blessings and riches that go beyond silver and gold (because how long does joy last from objects) and all sorts of wonderful things that go beyond this life. Hope that's not too much info but it sums it up

    You are very much an artist. This is coming from someone with an art degree who's had a lifetime of art up until family tragedy hit several years ago, and that flying spirit/drive has been broken ever since, drowned in "real life." Just now, thinking about it all, I had to hear this song again and looked it up. Your images and text were perfect.

    Well, you don't necessarily have to ignore all of the lyrics. I'm right there with you, buddy, I'm agnostic. However, this song has touched me because of the way I interpreted the lyrics before it got to the god part (I actually didn't know it was a Chrisitan band). After I looked at the character of god/JC in this song as someone you missed (i.e., a lover, a friend, yourself) and needed back to get your life back together. Fully enjoy the song because my god there are some great lyrics in here.

    I couldn't care less is this song celebrates a god that I don't believe in. There's a certain earnest optimism that even I, a non-believer through-and-through, can't help but love. The last few moments of the song in particular are very powerful. You'd have to be numb to not feel something.

    I am only a few days into a difficult change in my life. A relationship I had with someone I loved very very much ended, we were living together for over a year and a half, and I am just broken. On top of that I have extreme anxiety.. and i stress out very easily. As i sit here and type this with dried tears in my eyes, all i have to say is..
    In times of comfort, when I don't have anything else around I come to this song. I just need healing hands

      Elvan Allen I won't force you to believe in God, cause that's not what true Christians do. But if you ask God into your heart, he will enter you,forgive your sins and change your life. He changed mine!

    • @uxaenarrhythmia1483
      @uxaenarrhythmia1483 9 лет назад +1

      Superradness! I used to be religious. I grew up going to church twice a week, or more; I even went to special events. It wasn't
      until after I developed both as a personality and an intelligence that I came to realize how evil religion is. Religion has caused more murder, bigotry, prejudice, ignorance, and hate than any institutionalized ideology ever. Thus, though god may be real. I do not want to live in a universe created by a petty, and cruel god that would damn someone to ETERNAL torment because I didn't pay homage to him in my life. What about those who came before christianity was founded? The millions who lived before "Jesus?" And those who will never learn of his existence because of locale circumstance? Damned, all of them damned forever for something that they had no choice in. I'm not sure about you, but that is what we humans have come to identify as a masochistic and narcissistic psychopath. Picture this: a father who routinely torches his children because they don't respect him. I don't keep an ant collection in my house and burn them simply because they aren't praying to me. It's disgusting.

    • @uxaenarrhythmia1483
      @uxaenarrhythmia1483 9 лет назад +1

      Superradness! Did you know that homosexuality occurs in 10% of the entire mammalian population? Some keep a same-sex mate for their entire lives, and I'm talking about every mammal from goats to whales. And you're going to tell me that something which occurs naturally in our environment is a "sin" and warrants enduring excruciating pain for an infinity? Look at yourself, you may be a good person. But you do not need god to be that. Faith only inhibits an excuse to cause malevolent dissonance among your fellow species. You're just harming others. A good person does not do that. Good people do not do that. Yet, look at the result of religion throughout history: violence, and little else.

    • @uxaenarrhythmia1483
      @uxaenarrhythmia1483 9 лет назад +1

      Superradness! Yet in my opinion that isn't even the worst of it. The worst part is when religion damages our entire race as a whole and all future generations by setting us back decades, if not centuries in our understanding of ourselves and the universe. Did you know that the entire intelligent renaissance in Arabia was destroyed by one man claiming the authority of a god and damned mathematics and science as sins that take away from praise and worship to God?
      Where would we be had that man not been religious? We'll never know. Perhaps able to colonize another planet after the global warming deniers and liars kill our planet.

    The characteristics of the faith that many of these commenters have become disenfranchised with are those that are perpetuated by the franchise that is institutionalized religion and its history. What you have been taught is not the full story. Free yourself from the ignorance.

    So many kids lives were touched by this music who wouldn't have ever heard this message.
    Ska is usually considered a subgenre/subculture anyways, it's not so mainstream. Kids at their shows were already looking for something outside of the mainstream...that's why they were at a ska show. And some of them, myself included, found Jesus in these communities of weirdos and punk rockers.

    Someone with your mentality should probably just stop listening to music altogether. With very few exceptions thoughout history, music has been about breaking down barriers. The very first music was probably used a way to worship one god or another, google it. I'd say that not respecting beliefs other than your own is the greatest downfall of humanity. So, you should probably keep your ignorance to yourself, and find something less offensive to you than music to occupy your time.
