So I asked the official mifa store if the new ones are already updated and behold, they replied: "Yes, this batch comes with the latest version of firmware 2.10". when possible see the difference in these versions Alan. because I won't be able to compare it immediately with the sound of my mifa, because the one I bought the courier will deliver to my brother in another distant region of my country. Try taking it outside and listening to it off-center for a real-cause use. I found the update did make the Wildbox sound a bit better when used outside (placed on my driveway) and I walked around, listening it from different locations. The increase in the highs offsets the drop-off when you're listening off-center (vertically). That the update caused a drop in the bass is interesting. At lower levels, seems fine, particularly when the bass boost is enabled. I'm looking forward to the app - maybe they'll have "Indoor" and "Outdoor" EQ options, rather than the usual (and IMO silly "Rock", "Jazz", "Vocals", etc..)
@@alanrossreviews So, I finally had a chance to do some measurements of my own... Wow, there IS a bit too much treble boost, though I guess we didn't need measurements to know that! Hopefully Mifa fixes that in the next update, or at least provides an app with a custom EQ option so the user can do it for themselves. Via experimentation with my Dayton 408 DSP, it looks like a shelf of around -2.5dB from 2 kHz to 5 kHz followed by a deeper shelf of around 6dB from 10 kHz upwards should reduce most of the "damage". I also noticed some distortion at higher volumes around 60 Hz with the bass boost on, and the measurements showed why. The response of the PRs peaks at 50 Hz and slopes downward by 18 dB to 150 Hz, but the bass boost looks like a 8~9dB shelf from 70 Hz to 40 Hz, so I'm guessing those little 2.75" drivers are really not happy trying to carry most of the load from 60 Hz onwards. The bass response also drops like a rock below 50 Hz, but that's likely due to a combination of using PRs and the electronics cutting off anything below 50 Hz anyway because the speakers just won't be able to play that stuff any any reasonable volume. Overall, I like what the measurements are telling me. Distortion is reasonably low, and it's fairly easy to fix the response at higher frequencies with EQ. Putting the unit close to a wall (like on a shelf) fills in the low end nicely (down to 50 Hz), and engaging the bass boost does that job when the unit is away from any walls (e.g. if you're carrying it in the jungle :-) ). Now if Mifa would only hurry up and release that app...! :-)

Enjoyed the video as always. I don't own a Mifa Wildbox nor have i listened to one in person. I have seen your reviews on it ( the vs Motion Boom) as well as reviews from others. That said...the new update kinda sound a little better just listening on my laptop even though the old firmware sounded good as well. But I'm sure since u have listened to both the old and new firmware in person...you can easily tell what's missing..like the drop in bass as u say.

After listening to the video again on my phone the old firmware sounds fuller and rich while the new one sounds a little thin. You are definitely on point. I'm sure they will fix it. It's a very good speaker. I'm sure you will revisit the MB+ new firmware update. Got my replacement speaker today. The bass seems a little relaxed and deep...kinda like the Motion Boom. It will be interesting to see what your stats breakdown shows. Also eagerly waiting on your Tribit Stormbox Blast review. The sound seems impressive... let's see what your breakdown shows.
I debated whether to buy the Motion Boom, Rave Neo or the Mifa Wildbox for the last month or so. I even thought about the Boom Plus, but I saw that you were not impressed with it, and I think I want something smaller anyway. Plus I will use it a lot inside at lower levels. I was just about to buy the Mifa, but in the end I ordered the Motion Boom yesterday. I liked Mifa a bit more because of aux input (nice thing to have, but I don't think I will use it anyway), bluetooth 5.3 (so maybe less latency when watching videos), tweeters, and a little bit louder for outside gatherings, but the price is almost 50% more than the Boom. So I hope I made the right choice (I will see it when I will get it). Oh, and I also have Soundcore earbuds, so I know about the app and the eq is really awesome. Keep up the good work. I will definitely continue watching your videos even if I already got a speaker, thanks for your awesome reviews!

This sounds to me like if you are into the more forward sound of Klipsh speakers the new firmware is for you. If you are into something more laid back, the old firmware. You can definitely tell the sound is EQ'd.
Today I had to update... It's good that I stopped. ✨ I have my own eq on my phone and you can align it as a new update with the same bass. Imo tragic update and I agree with the slight improvement of vocals and air 10khz was enough to be 100% 😢🤦♂
Just got one a week ago and after extensively testing both the 1.93 and 2.11 firmwares I have to agree, the 1.93 firmware sounds much more natural to me. The 2.11 firmware is definitely brighter but they increased the treble too much and on certain tracks it becomes ear peircing.
Ion Audio has released the Aquasport Max in the US which has a very similar form factor to the MIFA Wildbox and claims to be 60 Watt and IP67 Waterproof. It shows the speaker floating with the drivers facing up in the photo. I doubt they can match the fidelity of the Wildbox but would be cool to see you review when you can get it in the UK.
Hello Alan Is there any news with the firmware or the App on the wildbox ? I overlooked it twice, maybe because of it's look, but on the 3rd time watching the match vs champ motion boom I considered it's sound seems ok and the aux , micro SD and party mode are attractive. Main problem is that you have to stick to their tuning and firmware. Thank you for all those great reviews.

*this new firmware update was unnecessary! instead of them increasing the bass they decreased and increased the treble! being that the treble was already perfect! now the high pitch is exaggerated! it is noticed more the treble when the songs are playing!*
Depends what firmware you run. Last firmware i tried for wildbox wasn't to my liking. Charge 5 is pretty solid but personally i listen to motion boom more than wildbox
Tried poormans equing, based on ur pink noise, with vlc on android I'm pretty happy with: 031hz +4 063hz +3 125hz +3 250hz +1 500hz +1 01khz +0 02khz -1 04khz +3 (pink noise shows a cliff at 4k) 08khz -1 (it's a peak but 6 and 10k are cliffs, so didn't want to loose too much) 16khz -2 (deboost some of it) Although sometimes there's still some clipping on around 2~8khz I believe (which is awful I kno) the bass is on 🔥🔥🔥 I'm assuming that trying to make it flat on a pink noise should be good, but is it? I have no idea lol
There’s a “deal” on Amazon right now for the Mifa Wildbox. $84. Great deal, right? But yet I still had some reservations. After mulling it over for 30 minutes I decided to pull the trigger. When I went back to Amazon to purchase I got a pleasant surprise. A $15 off coupon. So in a nutshell I was able to cop for $69 😳 🥳. Jesus did they watch the "mainstream reviews" for the motion boom plus and try to copy it by boosting the highs? I don't have this speaker and will never get it but had to watch all the way through cause you do the best breakdowns Alan. So weird to change the sound signature so drastically.. Can't wait for my second boom to arrive
yup! i can understand tweaking the sound bit by bit over time but this change totally changed the sound of a much loved speaker, i don't get it!!!!! 🤷♂️

@@ThibautMahringer yeah i know i said to turn off disable absolute volume which means turn on absolute volume. I know alan turned off absolute volume since the tribit micro video when volume didnt stick when media was not playing
@@stargazerxd13 I didn't understand sorry. But still, turning on absolute volume does not fix the issue on the new firmware. It's bass light no matter what you do... Only absolute volume off on old firmware give a satisfying bass
Well thank you for saving my ass😂 I was thinking rather to update or not and I am definitely not updating this speaker. And I got my Mifa wildbox for 69.65 and it will be here tomorrow 😁 for clarity I already have my Xtreme 3, a warmer listing the Xtreme 2. Motion Booms for a nice balance with deeper bass and now the Wildbox for even more deeper bass. But I still need to hear it in person
the good news is you can always go back to the old firmware with another manual update. is that all you got? you must of got rid of a load of speakers??

you need to update to be able to use the app whenever it comes. you will also be able to update straight from sd card after update and not need the media tool.
Wtf mifa this ain't 2006 😭 they need to just push the update through the app when it comes out and have a EQ so people can choose between the sound signature they want

Is it me or the Mifa Wildbox has a bit of sibilance. Anyone experienced this? Yup, listening to the comparison between old and new firmware, the new firmware has a lot of sibilance. I must have reveiced my with the new firmware. I need to find a way to go back to the old firmware.
sibilance is something that you are sensitive to rather than an issue in the speaker itself, if you are sensitive to it then the anything boosted in the 3-8khz range can be problematic to you. we are talking about the over emphasised S sound.
Personally (and that's just my opinion), I find the updated Wildbox to be piercing depending on the tracks, the brighter tracks are headache material for me...
I love your reviews. Thank you Alan! My Wild Box just bagged out on me in less than a year. I'm so sad. I've never played it so loud that the speakers distort. I thought it had a safety built in that keeps the speakers in safe range anyways. Anyone else have this experience? Any recommendations for the best sounding and best build for longevity speaker?
Overall the update is good, some bugs were gone. Imo, the bass got better especially on lower volume, bass is more noticeable when on 30-40% volume than before.

@@alanrossreviews добавлю немного слов , прогрел динамики,настроил эквалайзер на телефоне и вуаля - it's a Magic ✨✨✨⭐⭐⭐ все стало достаточно хорошо для меня со звуком , басс устраивает вполне , видимо как и в случае со Anker , нужно немного поработать "звукорежиссёром за пультом в студии " 😂😂😂 совсем забыл про громкость - до 70-80% для домашнего использования вполне хватит ,на улице не проверял - идёт дождь 3 дня )))

Why not think about that, knowing that it has been the direct competitor of the motion boom and that now the motion boom plus has the bad reputation of its bad highs but its strong sound... and they have wanted to continue being the direct competition of Souncore increasing the brightness of its good highs and giving more volume to try to reach it more? 🤔
I imagine you didnt use bass button and i do sometimes need just voice and bass not too be too much so this would be great if you go party you press bass boost

Its included in the zip of the tool. Alan, do you mean another firmware than 2.03? Got the Mifas yesterday and noticed some sound issues in tws-mode, sometimes there was a snap and the Sound changed between both speakers, independend of their distance. No problem standalone…

Hi Alan, can u please make a video about Tronsmart T6 MAX? it cost only 65 euro in my country but the size and sound (Bass) is comparable to Xtreme 3, Motion Boom etc.

You are wrong on this al. Most people do not disable volume sync. This was to improve the bass for those people at low volumes. I just bought 2 wildboxes for 83 dollars each and did the update and I really love them after the update. Try a comparison using volume sync vs old with volume sync 👌
btw mifa sent me the new speaker and asked me to tell people about the update. at no point did they mention to me this was to address a volume sync issue.
I think the speaker sounds better and brighter with the new firmware. The old firmware makes it sound flat and dull. If you like guitar music this will definitely sound better.
Ugh, why? It sounded great with the old firmware, I really miss the low bass. Does Mifa want their speaker to sound just like most other affordable speaker out there, all highs and no bass? I hope they ship with the old firmware to give their customers a choice.
I wonder if there's a way to "roll back" to a previous version of the firmware? Maybe once the app is released. Mifa is still on my short list, but it's not my first choice due to not knowing which firmware version it's shipped with. I'm curious to see your take on the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It might be a contender.
@@chrisjohnston964 You can go back, send a mail to Mifa and ask the older firmware, once they give it to you, just do the same process as you did for updating. I've updated, I hated the update, I came back to old firmware and now I'm rediscovering how good it was.
@@chrisjohnston964 You're welcome ! But let me tell you, after listening to the updated Wildbox, even if it's only for several days, you'll fall in love with older firmware. Before updating, Wildbox wasn't my main speaker. But since I downgraded, I realized how precious the old firmware was. And now I'm mostly using Wildbox as my primary speaker. Downgrading is the best thing you can do for your speaker and for your ears !
I couldn’t help but notice that Marshall has been updating their speaker lineup . They’ve updated all their home speakers and also the Emberton. Could a Stockwell 3 be not too far behind? Let’s hope they added more volume if there is a third gen

I recently had the chance to listen to both the original firmware Wildbox against an updated firmware Wildbox and not getting the same results on lower level listening. That was my one complaint about the Wildbox in my review back in April, thin sound at lower volume levels. One person later suggested changing the absolute volume option on Android phones and it did indeed help. But this new 2.03 firmware does improve low level bass output. Such as listening at 40% vol, the new firmware has a noticeably fuller low end sound compared to the original firmware. Now I do notice the difference in increased treble output and do also notice the difference in bass between the two becomes less as you go up to max or near max volume. For me anyway, the 2.03 firmware addressed the low to mid volume issue with improved bass response.
yes i didnt know at the time because mifa didnt tell me that this update addressed the absolute volume issue and i recorded this with absolute volume disabled, i need to revisit this soon when i have time. i think testing both speakers in both modes will give the overall situation.

The old firmware is called 1.93. By the way Alan, the bass being weak on older firmware is when you leave absolute volume on, from the moment you turn absolute volume off, then the bass become amazing !

Mifa Wildbox sounds best connected to a Xiaomi or Poco phone with a couple tweaks to mi sound Aka the equalizer, it really fixes a couple issues with the Wildbox I can send you my settings just reply and ask for my Instagram.
@@mitkovichno worries, don't forget absolute volume max speaker volume then adjust with phone and use the Dolby music profile, I have a Samsung S9 running pixel experience android 12 with Xiaomi Redmi sound modules in magisk it's perfect.

Yup listen on neutral headphones and you will hear the difference better

Just got one a week ago and after extensively testing both the 1.93 and 2.11 firmwares I have to agree, the 1.93 firmware sounds much more natural to me. The 2.11 firmware is definitely brighter but they increased the treble too much and on certain tracks it becomes ear peircing.

Ion Audio has released the Aquasport Max in the US which has a very similar form factor to the MIFA Wildbox and claims to be 60 Watt and IP67 Waterproof. It shows the speaker floating with the drivers facing up in the photo. I doubt they can match the fidelity of the Wildbox but would be cool to see you review when you can get it in the UK.

I overlooked it twice, maybe because of it's look, but on the 3rd time watching the match vs champ motion boom I considered it's sound seems ok and the aux , micro SD and party mode are attractive. Main problem is that you have to stick to their tuning and firmware.

*this new firmware update was unnecessary! instead of them increasing the bass they decreased and increased the treble! being that the treble was already perfect! now the high pitch is exaggerated! it is noticed more the treble when the songs are playing!*

Depends what firmware you run. Last firmware i tried for wildbox wasn't to my liking. Charge 5 is pretty solid but personally i listen to motion boom more than wildbox

Tried poormans equing, based on ur pink noise, with vlc on android I'm pretty happy with:
031hz +4
063hz +3
125hz +3
250hz +1
500hz +1
01khz +0
02khz -1
04khz +3 (pink noise shows a cliff at 4k)
08khz -1 (it's a peak but 6 and 10k are cliffs, so didn't want to loose too much)
16khz -2 (deboost some of it)
Although sometimes there's still some clipping on around 2~8khz I believe (which is awful I kno)

Well thank you for saving my ass😂 I was thinking rather to update or not and I am definitely not updating this speaker. And I got my Mifa wildbox for 69.65 and it will be here tomorrow 😁 for clarity I already have my Xtreme 3, a warmer listing the Xtreme 2. Motion Booms for a nice balance with deeper bass and now the Wildbox for even more deeper bass. But I still need to hear it in person
the good news is you can always go back to the old firmware with another manual update. is that all you got? you must of got rid of a load of speakers??

you need to update to be able to use the app whenever it comes. you will also be able to update straight from sd card after update and not need the media tool.
Wtf mifa this ain't 2006 😭 they need to just push the update through the app when it comes out and have a EQ so people can choose between the sound signature they want

Yup, listening to the comparison between old and new firmware, the new firmware has a lot of sibilance.
I must have reveiced my with the new firmware. I need to find a way to go back to the old firmware.
sibilance is something that you are sensitive to rather than an issue in the speaker itself, if you are sensitive to it then the anything boosted in the 3-8khz range can be problematic to you. we are talking about the over emphasised S sound.

Should be better if the presence and brilliance area are tuned in a more smoother way without dips and peaks so it doesn't gonna sound kinda "harsh".
i wouldnt say it was harsh just a bit thin and lacking warmth for me.
Personally (and that's just my opinion), I find the updated Wildbox to be piercing depending on the tracks, the brighter tracks are headache material for me...

I thought it had a safety built in that keeps the speakers in safe range anyways. Anyone else have this experience? Any recommendations for the best sounding and best build for longevity speaker?

Overall the update is good, some bugs were gone. Imo, the bass got better especially on lower volume, bass is more noticeable when on 30-40% volume than before.

Why not think about that, knowing that it has been the direct competitor of the motion boom and that now the motion boom plus has the bad reputation of its bad highs but its strong sound... and they have wanted to continue being the direct competition of Souncore increasing the brightness of its good highs and giving more volume to try to reach it more? 🤔
It has no chance to compete with the plus, they should stick to being an alternative to the boom
I imagine you didnt use bass button and i do sometimes need just voice and bass not too be too much so this would be great if you go party you press bass boost

he don't like tronsmart i don't like them too, they drain battety even not using it, they destorts at higher volumes most them are muffled sounding imo..

yup, but slightly less treble but certainly that 10khz plus boost is the main thing they needed since it had a sharp roll off in the old firmware.
You are wrong on this al. Most people do not disable volume sync. This was to improve the bass for those people at low volumes. I just bought 2 wildboxes for 83 dollars each and did the update and I really love them after the update. Try a comparison using volume sync vs old with volume sync 👌

I think the speaker sounds better and brighter with the new firmware. The old firmware makes it sound flat and dull. If you like guitar music this will definitely sound better.

Ugh, why? It sounded great with the old firmware, I really miss the low bass. Does Mifa want their speaker to sound just like most other affordable speaker out there, all highs and no bass? I hope they ship with the old firmware to give their customers a choice.

@@chrisjohnston964 You can go back, send a mail to Mifa and ask the older firmware, once they give it to you, just do the same process as you did for updating.
I've updated, I hated the update, I came back to old firmware and now I'm rediscovering how good it was.

But let me tell you, after listening to the updated Wildbox, even if it's only for several days, you'll fall in love with older firmware.
Before updating, Wildbox wasn't my main speaker. But since I downgraded, I realized how precious the old firmware was. And now I'm mostly using Wildbox as my primary speaker. Downgrading is the best thing you can do for your speaker and for your ears !

Does it have an app? For Android or iOS? Usually that's where the firmware number will be.
Just check the lights, if it animates only during music its the new firmware, if it animates all the time its the old firmware

Can we turn off the light while playing music?
I recently had the chance to listen to both the original firmware Wildbox against an updated firmware Wildbox and not getting the same results on lower level listening. That was my one complaint about the Wildbox in my review back in April, thin sound at lower volume levels. One person later suggested changing the absolute volume option on Android phones and it did indeed help. But this new 2.03 firmware does improve low level bass output. Such as listening at 40% vol, the new firmware has a noticeably fuller low end sound compared to the original firmware. Now I do notice the difference in increased treble output and do also notice the difference in bass between the two becomes less as you go up to max or near max volume. For me anyway, the 2.03 firmware addressed the low to mid volume issue with improved bass response.
yes i didnt know at the time because mifa didnt tell me that this update addressed the absolute volume issue and i recorded this with absolute volume disabled, i need to revisit this soon when i have time. i think testing both speakers in both modes will give the overall situation.

Mifa Wildbox sounds best connected to a Xiaomi or Poco phone with a couple tweaks to mi sound
