Weeeee assalam alikum my parents also from Kandahar I didn't see Afghanistan bcoz I was born in Pakistan when I see someone speak pushto I feel it was my family members stay blessed
the dancing looks like so much fun! I can feel the happiness through the screen! oh man I thought I'd be safe because I just had Chinese New Year dinner but I'm drooling all over again! as someone who just had to ask my parents wtf 小炒 means as part of a dish name (apparently, it just means "meat is in this stir fry") shorwa just being shorwa is a big mood🤣 mm love oxtail! my parents found a place that sold oxtails a few years ago and started making soup with it for nostalgia, I'll have to get them to try this recipe too! I hope more places start selling it too, waste not want not and it tastes pretty good too! The bread looks sooo good YES PLEASE I WOULD LIKE A RECIPE IS THAT SESAME I SEE I SWEAR I CAN SMELL IT grrr now I'm going to be trying to remember what bread thingy I had in China that is giving me such a vivid taste memory because I swear I can taste the bread-in-soup right now oh dear now I've written you a paragraph about the food, but it looks sooo good! also, if you're open to questions about remixing the recipe, do you think it would taste ok if someone substituted the potatoes with daikon? it definitely wouldn't taste the same, but we use daikon as the root veggie in soup at our house way more often than potatoes, so it's got me thinking... thank you for all the cultural insights along with the cooking! the truck is so delightful and colorful, and it's so cool that you describe people as having salt. this is the kind of storytelling I love when I'm listening to someone talk about a recipe!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write about yourself and how this video gave you memories and thoughts about your own life, family and food. It’s exactly what we hoped for and you’ve made my day. It is sesame and Nigella seeds on the bread. We joke that if you put sesame and black seeds on a dish it becomes Afghan no matter what it is. You can put any root vegetables you want in this soup. We usually put turnips but I didn’t have any I only had potatoes. But yes, daikon would definitely work here as well. And you can use any bone in meat as well, you just want to make sure it’s not too lean because the broth is very rich. Let me know if you make this I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it went and I really do appreciate your comments - keep them coming!
Hey i love shorwa and i also cook but mine is alittle different ( mardana ( male) style and also i think u cut the bread into bigger pieces 😂 we do it smaller , but the way u made it looks more delicious and yummy then mine , and also there is a pashto proverb the say ( da kam haql e sheze ba shorwa kama she😂) if u heared that which basically says the good think about shorwa is that u can simply just add more water to serve more people if u suddenly have a unexpected guest which happens in afghan families , tanx for sharing ur video

I’m Afghan and married a Mexican. She is obsessed with shorwa (with yogurt + salata of course), always asks my mom to make it when we go over 😂😂
