Damn! All these albums are amazing! Jellyfish!! Have their two albums on vinyl and live album plus an acoustic album and some 12". Love that band! Saw them twice in concert and they were amazing! Really wish they would have lasted longer. Andy Sturmer: wonderful drummer! The police! Stewart Copeland is amazing! Love The Police! Great video my friend! John Mayer Continuum! Great album as well.
Hi Edwin, some honorable mentions in my opinion would be: Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers) Reni (The Stone Roses) Will Champion (Coldplay) Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) Topper Headon (The Clash) Chris Dangerous (The Hives) Don Blum (The Von Bondies) Tre Cool (Green Day)
My nine choices in no particular order would be…. Supertramp ‘Breakfast in America’ (beautiful deep tones and drumming from Bob C Benberg) Tears For Fears ‘The Seeds of Love’ (various drummers but all great sounds especially Manu Katche on Badmans Song) Dave Brubeck Quartet ‘Time Out’ (Beautiful tasteful drumming from Joe Morello and the sweetest sounding kit ever) Rosanne Cash ‘Black Cadillac’ (Very organic sounding drums played a lot with brushes) Metallic ‘The Black Album’ (Lars best sound) Living Colour ‘ Vivid’ (Great drumming and great sounding drums) Richard Thompson Amnesia’ (Again various drummers but great sounds especially Micky Currys phased drums on Don’t Tempt Me & Jim Keltner on ‘I Still Dream’) Simple Minds ‘New Gold Dream 81,82,83,84 (Big 80s sound!) Finally Billy Joel’s ‘52nd Street’ Perhaps not the greatest drum sound ever but superb drumming from the brilliant Liberty Devitto. By the way I would have also picked the Jellyfish Spilt Milk (or Bellybutton) what a drum sound!
Squid - bright green field .....great drummer and sings amazing band

I mentioned Jellyfish on my Vinyl Tag 25, bought both Jelly records in 2024, never thought I'd have them on wax. Good call on Moanin'.

There’s a couple on there that are essential. Topper Headon and Reni for sure. Love both!!

I almost picked Songs from the Big Chair. Bob Benberg is underrated. Supertramp has a great rhythm section. Thanks for your list!!
Metallica is the best Lars.
