Michael Crawford is beyond words he is absolute sheer brilliance. I admire him greatly both as person as well as an actor/singer. He is a wonderful Phantom as well. No one can top his Maniacal Laughter. The way he speaks of the show is incredibly touching, such passion. By the by, Humble Phantoms are not all as rare as you may think. Hugh Panaro is a most Humble Phantom, Gary Mauer, Howard Mcgillin...also quite humble fellows.
i love it when he said that *sniffs* i really wanted him also in the movie. sad thing he hasn't had the chance.. we love you michael, you will always be our erik, our phantom...
I just want hug him. He seems like a great guy, and I love his voice, but you can't really compare people to anyone since everyone does things and sound a bit different. But their all good in my eyes. Still this really made me smile.
Oh thanks so much for posting this! It's really great, and it's just too bad that the phantom-movie (which they were planning on filming in 1990)wasn't filmed... Michael Crawford is just absolutely lovely!
I love Michael so, so much, and I'm only a 19-year-old girl! His singing is out of this world--he truly is the Angel of Music. If only he was in the movie version . . . Michael is also one of the few actors that has played the Lloyd Webber version of the Phantom who I think truly understands the character of Erik, that there are deeper layers to Erik. I wish someonewould sit down with him and do a complete in-depth, character anaylsis discussion on Erik. That would be a heck of an interview!
Micahel Crawford has taught me so much as the Phantom. He's inspiered me to play the Phantom. I love Michael Crawford's voice it's so beautiful. I have his photo of him as himself autographed.
Michael is truly my idol and I can't think of many Phantoms that, to this day, stand up to his preformence. Howard McGillian and Hugh Panero come to mind, however.
Michael actually was cast for the movie at first-In 1992, it was Michael and Sarah returning to their lead roles for the film-they even had ads out in fliers and newspapers advertising them for the roles, but for some reason they cancelled the filming and re-casted the 2004 movie cast. A Terrible shame-I think the reviews of the movie would have been enormously fantastic if they had of stuck with the originals. If you want to tryely experience "Phantom" go see the show, NOT the movie.
i am so beyond depressed that Michael never got to do the movie. If they had done it like they had done the stage, i would've had to have bought more than 1 copy. it would've been burned out from being watched constantly and then replaced and a back up.
No Phantom will ever match Michael Crawford, he took stage singing to a new level. The Phantom in the movie should have been Howard McGillin or Tim Curry.
Michael Crawford would have been Nominated for an Oscar since he had already been awarded an Oliver, and Tony Award. Gerry, Emmy would not won any awards because they were not flawless and perfect. Their movie rates B to C+ not worthy of any awards.Good Looks could not save their picture, failed in UK, US.
I guess you are right...I think that is why I didn't care much for the movie version of Evita...madonna was a little older than the character... I think I heard that crawford turned down the film role.
Michael did not turn down the movie role.....Hollywood was to stupid to offer it to him and Webber was to dumb to fight for MC to reprise his role in the film.
Madonna is 6 to 8 years older than Sarah. She still looks great, no one said she is too old to rock. Sarah could still be Christine, if you did not judge the age factor just watch the story as the story. Dale Kirstrien would be a good choice.
Sarah Brightman looks younger than Madonna, Madonna still tours and still dresses like she did twenty plus years ago. Age would not been a factor in the movie, if they were flawless and perfect.
sorry caprice6 you're great with your knoledge and that but i have got to disagree this time, Emmy isnt a bad singer so theres no trouble with her in the role and even though Sarah Brightman is a fantastic singer she is too old for the role if the character is meant to be 16

I just want hug him. He seems like a great guy, and I love his voice, but you can't really compare people to anyone since everyone does things and sound a bit different. But their all good in my eyes. Still this really made me smile.

michale is my absolute favorite phantom. if i hear any song from this play and its not sung like he does it, i think its no good XD

to be fair sarah sarah would be old for the role so u cant fault them for not casting her

Emmy was good, I cannot compare her to Sarah's Christine or visa versa.
I think Madonna is older then Brightman
