We'll admit we were on the fence about the new Deck of Many Things set from Wizards of the Coast / Dungeons & Dragons. Plagued with production problems that delayed its 2023 release into this year, what we ultimately ended up getting is a slick -- albeit pricey -- supplement that's... actually worth it? And this is coming from people who've been crowing a lot about the price increases on D&D books! Check out our review.

The Goblins and Growlers Podcast is produced by Goblins and Growlers, a Richmond, Virginia-based tabletop-roleplaying game content and events company dedicated to inclusivity through TTRPGs.
The book is so amazing, I haven't even opened the cards yet. I have had the set for a few weeks now. I felt it would be have usable content seeing as how my current PC is a combination of Gertrude from I Hate Fairyland, Lady Mechanika, & Gambit. Zhe's a glitching cartomancer warlock. But I was pleasantly surprised at how great the book is. I think it has more content than either the Spelljammer or Planescape sets (both of which I love but wish there was more content less cardboard🙄).
I obtained the alternate cover from my friendly local comic and game shop. One that you may be familiar with 😉.
It wouldn't be *CONVENIENTLY LOCATED* in Richmond's Willow Lawn, would it?
Why, yes, yes it would! 😁
Would you recommend buying this as a player or is it only for DMs?
It’s more sensible as a GM purchase than for players. Not to say players get nothing out of it, but for it to even appear in game will require GM approval to begin with. The decision-making and tarot-reading parts are fun, but that’s only half the point.
