Thanks mate, a good comparison. I have the DF50 and the KF50 on order, looking froward to trying it. I think my set up will be DF50 on Tsurinoya ELF Ajing to be used for LRF and the KF50, when it arrives, will go onto the Acehawk Double with the ultralight tip, I may invest in a Tsurinoya ELF Trout, have to wait and see but the Acehawk is a stunningly good rod for around £30.
@@TheConstantAngler Thanks Mate, I shall have a look at the post. I bought the Acehawk because the guy who runs "The Reel Test" rates as his top casting rod for testing new reels.
Hi mate, interesting as I am going into BFS am getting confused.I like the look of this DW ultra the most My recommendations have been the LINGL the Clamber and now this pops up.I am no stranger to multiplier/ baitcast reels, have pimped rebuilt many and customised . Loving your channel and after this review I think this reel is the one .
Glad I could help. I think your choice is between this and the Lingl. Think it just boils down to the size of the fish you are after. Lingl is a larger reel I think so maybe more robust if you are targeting larger fish. The Ultra is smaller reel, more finesse. I would say performance wise they will both cast light lures and heavier lures.
I’ve got the right hand version and right away was impressed at the quality and still dubious of its potential performance,so I used a 6’ .6-8g rated bfs rod and tied on a 1.66 g swivel and no effort and just a rough setting it’s pretty good
Thanks for pushing the ultra for beginners. I started with the zephyr, I am looking to expand. I want to get the Dark Wolf Ultra and put it on a 7foot ugly stik ultralight.
Unfortunately they have messed with the Ultras brakes and they are now static. I would not recommend it now as it will need a tricky modification. Why they did this I do not know.
@@noobpyrotech9991 I guess it would. Have a look at this video, which explains a fix for the recent brake problem. ruclips.net/video/5LTpx9OpD7E/видео.html
I did but then I bought a spare spool and left the new one with the standard bearing. There is no difference in casting distance with the spare spool but it is smoother with both the spool and end cap having roro bearings.
They don’t say it does but it’s a carbon frame with sealed bearings so if clean well afterwards would probably be ok. Clean levelwind and keep slightly greased, plus reel foot etc. Thanks for watching
Good work 👍
Probably best of all you got a mention from The Reel Test guy👍

Must admit I’m tempted by the Ace Hawk. Have you seen Paul Gaskell’s post in My BFS group. Fantastic read.

Thanks for a great video. Will the Ultra handle 12-13gram lures you think?
Not sure. See no reason why not. Wether it is a power finesse real I’m not sure? I would be happier with the Shimano Curado for this.

Sold my Aldebaran bfs xg and order second Ultra, think thats says enough now can cast 1 gram
That Alde is fiddly
Between the two reel can you tell us which one is smooth when you retrieve the reel....
The ultra is much smoother on the retrieve Bryan

Still my favourite budget reel.
@@TheConstantAngler it’s capable of casting bfs weight as easily as a conventional 200 size reel and 10-15g lures
@@needmoreboost6369 it’s hell of a reel. It’s gaining a great rep in the US for finesse Bass fishing let alone the lower end of BFS
@needmoreboost6369 I think that’s why it is so respected. It’s so adaptable and user friendly

What is the retrieval rates of the reels?
@@mr.chadwick1049 DF50 is 5:3:1 & the DWU is 7:1:1 you can get a faster DF50 that is also 7:1:1

Do you need to upgrade the bearings on the KF-50SL ?

Thanks for responding, might aswell get the Roro bearings too. Great video mate
Only in your opinion/experience , what rod do you think would be the best match for the Dark Wolf Ultra KF-50S reel.
I think it will do any rod justice but it depends on what lure weights you are trying to cast and for what fish.
Bought mine for $49. Was it a good deal?
I would say so. Great reels. Sure you won’t be disappointed
Does it has saltwater approve
