It’s almost incomprehensible how well-read you need to be to improvise Shakespearean dialogue. Brennan is amazing always.
Brennan being amazing is 100% true, however I have to take a second to mention that a fair number of people are capable of mindboggling things.
Pro athletes and olympians are the obvious examples, but human potential gets underestimated all the time.

Agreed. I'd likely struggle to do this myself. But I can at least say that he made like 2 mistakes. "Thou now beholdeth" should be "thou now beholdest" also "thou skull" should be "thy skull."

Absolutely. It is clear that Brennan is extremely gifted at quickly improving scenes and speeches-- especially in cases where something wordy and complicated needs to be parodied.

@@luthien47 this is an improv show lol. Its really not too farfetched. I was in a show this summer that consisted of 7 hours of pure improv (with 2 minute long scripted scenes at the top of every hour.) where we had to build a world by interacting with guests and other villagers, creating random new subplots every day, etc. Once youve done improv performance enough, the scenes you end up pulling off the top of your head go wild.

This was my favorite bit from the episode, it’s so impressive to see Brennan do a complicated improv monologue with Shakespearean language and then hear him say shit like “Welcome to Spirit Airlines” and “thou shalt notice two emergency exits” in a flowery British accent

What's frightening is that this isn't even Brennan's final form.

Sometimes I think this is just Brennan's default mode of speech, and he's just humoring us the rest of the time.

Brennan is an actual genius. He’s very smart and is as quick with improv as a pro comedian is. I can’t believe how he makes up jokes on the fly like that!

He was literally born to do this exact thing and excel at it, much like Jess McKenna was born to do improv musicals; I’d love to imagine them as regular stand up comedians because they would be funny but this suits their talents better.

They did the same thing on his Who Wants to Be a Millionaire appearance and it was distressing

i thought i was amazed because english is not my first language and that was super impressive to me, but seeing everyone getting amazed by him warmed my heart in a way i cannot describe

I (sadly) have not read much Shakespeare, but I use vocabulary such as this often. Tis simply a matter of knowing one's language, and judicious use of a dictionary/thesaurus. That's actually how my sister and friends knows it's me versus my husband posting a message. If I have my hands full and ask him to type what I say, the prose and punctuation invariably gets shifted and changed. Then he gets a message back greeting him, rather than the topic we had been discussing. At this point, I think he does it for giggles, as I married a smart man and there's no way he could have missed the linguistic differences in our typing. 🤣
Now, coming up with the entire thing in a few seconds... *That* was impressive.

He's even managing to improvise in iambic pentameter as best he can. Very impressive
he kinda slips in and out of it and then gives up but i'll give credit where credit's due - it's very difficult to be consistent in iambic pentameter
People don't even speak normal English this fluidly let alone Shakespeare's archaic version

Not quick of mind enough to count this surely, but it quite sounds like he's keeping to that iambic meter fairly accurately. Which is kinda impressive as fuck, even if it's supposed to be the most natural feeling meter.

Speaking in an iambic meter is relatively straightforward; you just stress alternate syllables. The hard part is the pentameter part of iambic pentameter, and he's definitely not doing that.
When he played Titania in Unsleeping City, she also kept iambic pentameter pretty much consistently for the duration of her diologue. The man has a gift.
