I'm Julian Curi, aka Righteous Robot, and I need your help with my paper-made Short Film.
Two years ago, I set out to tell a story about my relationship with my late dad. Life happened, and "GRUFF" was put on hold. This is a Short Film that I hope can resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds, and give them the kind of story I wish I had when I lost my dad.
With so many urging me to finish this film, I've come here to ask for your support! This style of animation is time-consuming and deserves several months of dedicated focus. But I'm committed to bringing you this heartfelt story in a fresh style that any lover of practical filmmaking will be sure to fall in love with.
Unless donating anonymously, I'll be proud to include all supporters in the credits of the film, which will hopefully play worldwide at film festivals! And with enough support, we may be able to get some recognizable voices to lend their talents to the film.
Thank you for believing in Gruff, and in me. See you on the red carpet!
    Julian

And one more of my own, take loss as a way to gain, to learn more, and to be inspired by the good and great that they have done in their time of life.

My Dad died this year in March of heart disease (he had a heart attack in the night after a party). He was only 62 and we had no idea he was that sick💔 so it was a sudden and awful shock to us all. I miss him every day. I loved him so much. He was a really great funny loving family man. Talented too (he played banjo, guitar and sang irish trad). A beautiful soul gone too soon. No doubt if this short is about a father I'll be in tears. I'm still mourning him especially now that Christmas is coming. Stay doing what you do!

my grandmother, who raised me as if she was my mother since my own was absent, died a few months ago. she showed love mainly through material things, which left me feeling a bit odd since my love language was different from hers. I lost my dad about 2 years ago now. It does seem like there are a lot of gruff dads out there who care, but don't necessarily say it all the time. There's also a whole group of people dedicated to trying to return the favor. It strikes me as odd that people can love each other, but get upset about how often it's talked about and use that to destroy the relationship. My dad wasn't the gruff one, he told me he loved me all the time, and made sure I knew. I was the one that didn't show a lot of affection. I regret it, but it just doesn't change who I am, and hindsight is 20/20. I told him on occasion, but I mostly just tried to be there for him the best I could, and I would overcompensate in doing so. I was blessed to have a father that wouldn't have changed how he treated me based on how much affection I showed him, I saw that because my siblings treated him like dirt, but he treated us all the same. He never stopped caring about us, and letting us know.
I just want to tell people dealing with someone like that that, someone like me, just because they don't say it doesn't mean it isn't true. Try to show them some understanding, and empathize with the fact that different people show their love in different ways. Don't overthink things, don't assume the worst, just try and see the world through someone else's eyes.

I'm also very impressed that your animation is more of a lost art many animation of today has discontinued. Having watched some shorts, intro and behind the scenes of how the Paper, models, construction and raw foundation its built upon is more than respect I can say; one of a kind. I hope you succeed and find fulfillment in your dream and cause.

I've always been a fan of the dad that loves their kid but just doesn't show it very well, if at all for one reason or another.
It's a great way to add tension to a story without a "bad guy" and it seperates the good directors from the bad, because the line between cold emotionless dad and dad that's not classically loving is very thin and it takes real talent not to screw it up.

The final of watching their shadows on the wall and origami I use to love making paper puppets and then the little books out of recycling paper it was so cool!!! The time it took to have to capture each movement in class then try to make a quick book using your outline so when you flip through the pages really fast it looks like an entire moment, I may have expected more from the storyline but it's so much fun to do paper puppeteering

Sorry about your father. We always wished we had more time with them… I love hearing my father’s stories of his life, things I never knew as a child. I just found your site, your work is fascinating and creative. Thank you for the enjoyment of your craft.

8 years ago 😢for me and then 7 years ago when I lost my grandfather and grandmother and I about 2 years ago when my mom died 💔 well her mind is gone 💔 anyway. She doesn't recognize her only 2 daughters. It's hard at first 😪 but the memories that are in your head will live forever. Whatever he's done, you can visit him in your dream ❤️ I know that i sound like a movie or something he loves you

My grandpa passed away about a year ago. Actually two days after you uploaded this. I wish I had taken more time, learned more of his stories bc I’m sure he had many more to tell. Or even if I heard the same ones again. I just wish I could see him again. I miss him so much.

I think showing the amount of work you put into animating each scene really helps. Some folks are just ignorant on the effort it twkes
