This was Ren makes a song, releases it to acclaim, then does an acoustic cover/mashup of his own song and totally reinvents, then records a busking performance to a small audience of friends. This is the the essence of Ren in so many ways. This was great on just so many levels
His busking performances with The Big Push, he gets just as in to it. He really loves performing in front of people, which is great because he's awesome at it.
This performance is very recent - he announced he was going to LA to record it a couple weeks ago - whereas most of his other video releases were already recorded over the last year or two. So this is really the first time we get to see him performing an upbeat song, that is current, after having his career take off over the last year, with the viral success of Hi Ren, and after reaching 1 Million subscribers on his youtube channel. So yeah, I think he's feeling pretty good about his music right now, and you're right, I think were beginning to get to see it in his new live music.
His official version of Murderer was great. This acoustic version is even better in my opinion. This is where his musicality and originality come to the fore.
Ren is a well seasoned busker! Check out his street performances with Sam Thompkins, and The Big Push (his band). You've barely scratched the surface ❤🔥🔥
I'm sure others must have suggested this...but, for great live performances you should check out Ren with his band The Big Push. Outdoor busking in Brighton. All videos are great...but especially the ones where Ren is wearing Red suspenders. The energy is particularly great that day.
You're right his technical ability is crazy. You can tell he's been performing for a long time. All those years of busking definitely would have helped! Absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I love how Ren will never play a song the same way twice. Nice sneaky little Dre guitar part in there too. So impressed as always (vibing out here) 💃🏻 Now to go back and watch again 💕
Ren has talent and musicality from head to toe and all the way out to the tips of his fingers. I think I love this version even more with all the little scatting bits and the added/changed melodies. Just brilliant. The GOAT in the rabbit hole kills it again.
Other than a couple (literally his own words) of guitar lessons, he's self taught/RUclips taught, tho there might also have been some formal instrument or voice study when he was at the Bath School for the Performing Arts for college - I've never heard what kinds of classes he took while he was there. RUclips taught re: vocals - Ren has explicitly said he watched a lot of Chris Liepe's content, and took a lot from Liepe's examinations of Jeff Buckley's voice.
Loved your reaction❤. Have you seen him with his Band " the big Push " ? They've got an awsome mashup from "i shot the Sheriff/road to zion/Hip Hop" and from Black Sabbath war pigs.
…and Paint it Black (fun on the guitar) and Watch Out (live busking) which is an original- he had a lot of fun with that. The RUclips channel Brighton Street Busking BBB captured a lot of video of The Big Push busking over time. There’s a lot of fun content there that reactors don’t see. I’m especially enjoying their video of What Kind of Woman is This live. That one is fun too.
New entry in the 2023 Webster Dictionary: Definition of a true artist (with a capital A): Someone like Ren Gill. Don't you agree?! Fantastic reactions to Ren's work. Good job
Excellent reaction and you nailed it. Ren is a gift…can’t thank him enough for sharing his talent and also bringing people together. I would have never had known this channel…so glad I do now
If you want Ren in his Element.... The Big Push.... War Pigs. . Chinchilla + Ren . Sexual Healing. . And anything with him Busking (That's street performing)
Most of the stuff coming out now is at least a year + old, but this performance was recorded earlier this week. He could be feeling a bit better, or just feeling the music. 💜🎶
Tidbits from barrington levy's "murderer", damian marleys "welcome to jamrock" and dr.dre's "the next episode" and ini kamozes "world a music (out in the streets they call it merther)" that is a sample on welcome to jamrock in there. Filmed in Los Angeles 3 days ago. Fun fact: "Merther" is basically the term for listening to reggae while smoking weed. The "merging" of it.
As others said, you've got to check out the busking sessions with the big push, like the I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion, or the Wade in the water one, or their acoustic version of sweet little lady.
Ren is predominantly self taught from RUclips. He has also interacted with a wide number of talented musicians and variety of music. I believe he also studied music or performance art at uni, so I assume he also studied music at school.
great reaction. this was great. I love his acoustic versions. Animal Flow and Genesis live acoustic versions are fantastic too. He taught himself to play instruments and to do vocals.
Love your reaction and subscribed, He is dropping I Love Music number 4 next Thursday hopefully. So if you have not yet check out numbers 1,2 and 3. I love when you can see Ren and his music and instruments are all one.
Even when he records two or three live versions of a song--as he often did with The Big Push--they turn out to have a totally different feel to them. But always good, and always hitting a different set of emotional levers. That takes a huge amount of talent, imho. This one feels playful, like a celebration. (He must have had some productive meetings in LA! 🤠) Great reaction! I thought I had subscribed to all of the great Ren reactors, but I was wrong. Subbed!
I think I read somewhere that Ren's mum is a vocal coach. Not sure if that's correct. He mentioned in a comment on Chris Liepe's channel that he has been subscribed to his channel for a long time and has learned a lot from him. He mentioned in an interview that he learned guitar from RUclips videos - I get the feeling he's always learning all sorts from all over the place, just like his musical influences are so varied.
Once he has released the album this song is from (Sick Boi) the next album is back to his singing/musician roots rather than rap. He said he watched a lot of Chris Liepe's tutorial videos on RUclips when he was trying to learn how to get the most out of his voice.
Love This, Hes Freaking amazing.I dont know anyone who does anything similar to REN. Hes one of a kind for sure. Love your channel, YOU ROCK! Just saying. Now i have to watch more. Xo ❤🎶
Wait that was your "first" live Performance of Ren? Like srsly, watch him play with his Band the Big Push, either I shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hiphop Mashup or War Pigs Mashup. Both are top level Musicianship :D
Ren never ceases to amaze! Absolute 🔥 every single time!Between Ren dropping Murderer Acoustic, and now binging on my favorite reactors - my day has been pretty damned good! Great reaction 💛
I believe his Mum is/was a singing teacher/coach? I’d have to go back and check. I pick up these pieces of info then immediately forget them. I love this version. He really does melt into the music and they become one. I didn’t know that was a Dr Dre riff but I’m enjoying watching reactors brains ticking over at that point as it dawns on them. I’m new here. Have liked and subbed. Will be back. ✌️ ❤ 🇬🇧
I love his trailing vibrato it’s beautiful. If you haven’t checked out his work with The Big Push you really should. Il put some below to check out they’re mostly busking ones which is where he started and excels. I shot the sheriff/ road to Zion/ hip hop (wearing red suspenders) Wade in the water/ Nina Simone/ trouble so hard War Pigs (wearing red suspenders) Swan Song Englishman in New York 🖤
Yo, I just subbed, I really dig your style. PLEASE make a REN playlist, I searched your Ren vids & created 1, but it would be much better if you made 1 so that it would update automatically when you updated it. I'm sure that I'm not the only 1 who would appreciate this. Great reaction & thank you for being so positive. I hope that you have a blessed day as well.
Pretty much the only other acoustic rapper I know of is Everlast. If i'm wrong, FFS let me know who also does that so I can discover their music ASAP!!!
I was hoping you would react to this today! Thanks! Always love hearing your thoughts on Ren performances. Ren appears to being feeling really good right now. Honestly, he's as much a movie director as a singer/songwriter/performer. This was awesome.
At 5:11 that single picking track under his Rapping sounds familiar! Gotta say... it would be Very HARD for me at least, to pick another melody, under a fast vocal! Wow
PLEASE listen to my fellow Renegades, 1, Make a Ren Playlist 2, Make a Big Push Playlist…and react to any/ all suggestions by Renegades 3, Make a Ren collaboration playlist: Chinchilla, Sam Tompkins,
Is it daft that i now feel less ashamed to be mentaly ill after listening to this song. Im very much gratefull to be free and not locked up for being "mentaly rxtxrxed" (england UK) Ren i wish i grew up with you as a brother. Sounds gay ik....
i love Ren but hes not unique as far as rapping to a guitar. In my ren journey I came across an artist called "Wax" he is from Baltimore, MD USA and has been in the game a lil longer than Ren. But they are somewhat similar. Wax also plays acoustic guitar and raps and sings.
This was Ren makes a song, releases it to acclaim, then does an acoustic cover/mashup of his own song and totally reinvents, then records a busking performance to a small audience of friends. This is the the essence of Ren in so many ways. This was great on just so many levels
You have So well caught the flavour.
His busking performances with The Big Push, he gets just as in to it. He really loves performing in front of people, which is great because he's awesome at it.

Also who else jams out with his hospital wristband on?
Hurricaine Ren is coming to shake up the Music industry.
I'm sure others must have suggested this...but, for great live performances you should check out Ren with his band The Big Push. Outdoor busking in Brighton. All videos are great...but especially the ones where Ren is wearing Red suspenders. The energy is particularly great that day.
If you haven’t seen playing with performance as much, does that mean you haven’t seen his busking videos? 😲😲😲😲
You're right his technical ability is crazy.
You can tell he's been performing for a long time.
All those years of busking definitely would have helped!
Absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

If you like Ren's 'playfulness' check him and Big Push doing a live version of The Englishman in New York
And Praise You the Fat Boy Slim cover…oh and Bongo Bong for some more fun..plus Paint it Black for energy!!!
Ren is pure magic
Other than a couple (literally his own words) of guitar lessons, he's self taught/RUclips taught, tho there might also have been some formal instrument or voice study when he was at the Bath School for the Performing Arts for college - I've never heard what kinds of classes he took while he was there.
RUclips taught re: vocals - Ren has explicitly said he watched a lot of Chris Liepe's content, and took a lot from Liepe's examinations of Jeff Buckley's voice.
I love that man ❤
When an acoustic off studio take slays like this.. this is the Busking Soul.
Loved your reaction❤. Have you seen him with his Band " the big Push " ? They've got an awsome mashup from "i shot the Sheriff/road to zion/Hip Hop" and from Black Sabbath war pigs.

Ren has so much texture to his singing voice. Glad you appreciated it as much as I do.💕👍🦇
Have you seen the acoustic version of Animal Flow? You can see he is enjoying himself in that as well. It was recorded live on a moving bus.
As others said, you've got to check out the busking sessions with the big push, like the I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion, or the Wade in the water one, or their acoustic version of sweet little lady.
This was filmed recently in Calafornia while on a treament break. The original was filmed in Brighton 1922 before he started his treatment.
Filmed in LA earlier in the week. Not sure why he's there, but it's probably something he's amped up for. He's on top of the world here no doubt.
You nailed it. His joy in this is infectious. Ren is music.
Love the subtle differences when he does his live versions . This to me is late night listening.
Ren is predominantly self taught from RUclips. He has also interacted with a wide number of talented musicians and variety of music. I believe he also studied music or performance art at uni, so I assume he also studied music at school.
The first 30 seconds is homage to Barrington Levy's original ruclips.net/video/X-m65uS9mVU/видео.html
This version has quickly turned in one of my top 5 Ren songs. ❣️❣️❣️ His new song, "lost my Faith", is amazing and I hope it does it live as well.
This felt like hanging around the campfire just jamming. Loved the vibe.
great reaction. this was great. I love his acoustic versions. Animal Flow and Genesis live acoustic versions are fantastic too. He taught himself to play instruments and to do vocals.
Ren's mother is a vocal coach...great reaction

😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
Ren is gonna win ewry Music Awards this year 🎉💙🇫🇮
His mother is a professional vocal coach.

@01:50 absolutely nobody. Hes definitely beyond skilled ❤
That's our little Welsh scatting rapper chilling in LA

He said he watched a lot of Chris Liepe's tutorial videos on RUclips when he was trying to learn how to get the most out of his voice.
He always says he’s most at home preforming on the streets
I wonder...has Ren found LOVE? 😁🥰
This is my current fave. Listen many times daily like a crazy person. 😊
U can definitely feel the reggae vibes in this version. Sounds so good.
He just keeps getting better
Thank you for your great reaction. I love this version! ❤
Did you made a a reaction to the big push his busking band? If no, please do it!

He did seem like he was having more fun with this one - maybe because he's feeling better? It's wonderful to see him play.

subscribed, humble artist, I appreciate that
I know you did the video of Animal Flow but please do the acoustic version of that. It is crazy good.
Anyone else get sublime vibes from the opening riff?
You should check out animal flow acoustic. As well as genesis acoustic. He always does this with his live versions of rap songs
Pretty sure I have seen previously that his mother is a vocal coach ?
The master

Plan B was doing it over 15 years ago and an obvious inspiration for Ren's genius.
