Ren has always had bits of rapping in all his songs, so I’m confident that we’ll still get it moving forward. What’s been different about the Sick Boi is the tracks that have no singing at all.. and I’ve missed it. He has such a soulful singing voice, with just the right amount of dirt in it :)

Tidbits from barrington levy's "murderer", damian marleys "welcome to jamrock" and dr.dre's "the next episode" and ini kamozes "world a music (out in the streets they call it merther)" that is a sample on welcome to jamrock in there. Filmed in Los Angeles 3 days ago. Fun fact: "Merther" is basically the term for listening to reggae while smoking weed. The "merging" of it. Just loved it very much. Oh and also: There is a version of "murderer" from barrington levy featuring none other than rakim himself. A absolute fire rendition of his original.

The new live acoustic version of “Murderer” is incredible and my favorite of the two. Marty DeHart (@Parula06) shared that the live acoustic performance was shot in LA a couple of days before its release. The song, apart from the original melody and lyrics, also gives a nod to Damian Marley, Dr Dre, Barrington Levy, and Sublime, yet, the song is unmistakably a Ren original. Black Pegasus (@BlackPegasusRaps) pointed out that the verse “Out in the streets they call it murder” is originaly from an Ini Kamoze song, “World A Music,” released in 1983. The line became famous when Damian Marley sang it on “Welcome to Jamrock.”

Did you catch the Dre/Snoop "Next Episode" riff in there after the guitar solo? Ren plays it while rapping a completely different cadence, which I find kind of astounding. I love enjoying this with you. Like you said, "It's Ren." ❤
