You are correct. I went to see if the man I loved, who claimed " his feelings for me deepened, " was finally readt to commit.
I asked could set aside one day a week to talk, make plans, and do relationship work. He agreed. So Tuesday rolls up and I am ready to do the work. Every week, some other thing came up and the conversation didn't happen. After six months, the time I set aside to try this out, I went back home. But I would not KNOW he would never be ready until I gave him that chance. Now I know. It hurts, but I learned and can now move forward.❤
The desires of the heart will deceive so you have to make a conscious choice to make a relationship work, both sides and then a deeper love will grow. That is why marriage is the ultimate promise to stay together, commitment and trust!!! 🙏❤
That is so true. And so many people say they want these amazing relationships, and when they find them, they shut down and run away because it feels too overwhelming.
I look at their heart, as well of other things. But the heart is number one for me. When I fall in love with someone, I fall hard. And I treat that person how I want to be to treated. I am a giver, not a taker. My sweetheart is shows genuine love and kind and respectful. That's why I fell in love with him. It makes a person beautiful inside and out. I think maturity does play a part of it. And no one is perfect. But that does not mean to settle for a dog .

I’m so glad Jonathon highlighted this clip! It’s empowering to shine the light on ourselves and ask ~ is this truly in alignment with me, can I make this work. I am fresh out of a breakup and it was so hard to admit I was self-abandoning over some key values and goals we did not really share. As strong as the shared passion was, it was not holding us together through difficult times. That’s where shared values and purpose/goals become essential. Life does a good job of tearing those weaker connections apart, especially as we get older and navigate career pivots, caregiving, etc. Thank you, JA!
We focus so much on whether the other person is all-in, and reclaim our power when we own whether *we* actually are or not. Playing victim is so disempowering. Added to my journal for the future… where I will be asking the harder questions before passion takes the lead: “To be all-in, your desire for this person must outweigh your fears, misalignments and differences with them.” 💯🙏🏼♥️

Compromise…bc no two people are exactly alike in every way. There will always be differences. I know that it’s also good to have other interests and people in your life. So important, but to also prioritize each other. There’s going to be good and bad. That is life!
