thank you, im going to try to grow some ...i promised my wife to keep her garden growing. she did all the gardening so i need all the help i can get now that im on my own..
On 4/25 I sowed petunia seeds for the first time from a beautiful lilac petunia I had 3 years ago. They all germinated! I am so excited but now what? It's 5/12 and they are on their 2nd set of leaves. Should I leave them to grow more leaves? Should I keep just one plant per pot? Do you pinch back petunias to make them fuller? Do you have an update video for these petunias? I would love to see the final product from your seedlings!
Yes, should definitely thing them out to one plant per pot. You can move them to a 4 pack or 6 pack starter tray and once they fill that in put them into a bigger container. A lilac petunia sounds lovely!
When you do herbs, do you pull each plant apart like the petunias? With herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme, I was thinking about putting a whole seed plug into a solo cup rather than pulling them each apart. I use the overseeding method. Thoughts?
Did you leave germinate the petunia seeds under sunlight and which month did you start the seeds? I kept mine in the shade and it has been 2 weeks and they still look thin and weedy. After reading some of the posts, I move the seedlings into the sun!! Do I need to pinch to encourage branching?
I started mine inside under grow lights. Might depend on the type of petunias you're growing.... If it's the wave type then probably don't need to. These ones though I think I did pinch some cuz they were getting too tall and not bushing out.
You didn’t show from seed to starts, you just showed potting up seedlings, do you put on a heat mat or cover with dome, cover seeds or surface sow? Some say need’s light to germinate some say lightly cover with soil 🤷🏻♀️
I sprinkle the seeds on top of seed starting mix and lightly press into soil but don’t cover with soil. I do put humidity done on until they germinate to keep soil from drying out too fast. If my grow room is under 70 degrees Fahrenheit then I will use a heat mat.
Where you found it ? I’ve been watching lots of videos and no one talks about those topics , nothing about what type of soil after germination and when to start feeding them and what to feed them ? 🤦🏻♀️

The nice part being...many memories will come back to you of her.
She's watching from heaven, like Jesus, give em a good show!
I can see advantages to starting seeds that way... so interesting to see different methods. Thanks for sharing!
Love the way you adopted.
Just a thought: You could always ask a neighbor if they want the ball-o-discards. Who knows? They might even have something for you as well?
Most of my neighbors are either not gardeners or are cattle farmers. :D
Petunia crazy!! You are awesome!
Thank you for info 👍
QUESTION…… how many petunias to you transplant into a hanging basket??
I just do one per basket. They get pretty big.

thank you 😊
Great information! Thanks, Paula!

I got some pelletized seeds from Burpee. Do you think it is worth trying to plant one seed in a peat pellet?
Sure, you could definitely do it that way.
Thanks
Oh my, that's a lot of petunias :)
hah I know! I wasn't expecting such good germination.

@@gapey shall see, just moved mine out. If they get tall and leggy will, pinch. Otherwise, try again next year.. lol
I’m going to start mine very soon! Awesome job!
Where can I buy the containers you started the seeds in?
Took a little bit to find them. They are actually 3" x 5". I added an Amazon link to the description of the video: amzn.to/3sEw3rx
Hi great job can I ask what's the best form of compost for seed.
I wouldn't use compost on seedlings but if you want to I would use a small amount of vermicompost.
Thank you and do you fill your seed tray right to the top? or keep it down an inch
@@MrFarmeruk pretty close to the top.
Where can I get a great variety of petunias
Good question. I got mine from Baker Creek and they didn't have much of a selection.
I bought pelleted from Harris Seeds.
Thank you for the watering tip. Knowing when to pot up to a larger container for seed starting is great info. Big help! Thanks again.
Hi, where did you put the seeds? Are they in a sunny area or shade?
They're in my house under an LED light.
@@gapey Oh, thankyou thankyou . Because i put mine in direct sunlight. I'm afraid it won't germinate.
@@baileybeluga425 it should germinate in sun too as long as soil doesn't get too dry.
@@gapey I'll cover it with plastic cover so it'll retain it's moisture thankyou again. Ms.
@@gapey what composition for medium please.its look grow nice
Have you tried the burpee seed starting mix? Doesn't dry out as quickly, at least for me.
Nope, I haven't tried that one. I'll have to look for it and give it a try.
Why could you not just sow only as many as you plan to grow?
You can definitely do that. The seeds are super tiny. I grow more because I sell my starts in the spring. You can start how ever many you want.

Can i buy a seeds of pitunia how much
I already responded and it appears you deleted your comment. Check baker creek seeds. I don't sell them.
How much if I buy seeds
depends where you buy them. I got mine from Baker Creek for $2.75. They don't have a very big selection of colors though.
Nice information stay connected friend
Thank you, I will!
I tried mine but haven't germinated it's now two weeks. I took the seeds from the plant
I haven't tried saving seeds myself but I grew some this year from seeds my mom saved with no problem.
Thanks. I got some seeds from a seed swap. I'm going to try them tonight.

I grew them from seeds and I talk about how I did it. :)
Not a good video. How did she start them?
I explained how I started them at the beginning of the video.
Sorry, how to grow from seed should include type of soil, lighting, cover needed, etc. Got info from another site.
