I really have to thank you, I'm a Brazilian cosplayer, as many people here, i try to make my cosplays but the cosplayers never uses Eva foam or your materials, they also buy costumes, and that was making me sad, but when i discovered your channel, i make my first Eva foam cosplay, a mecha body, i felt so good and everyone in my team liked too, and now i can do whatever i imagine with it, so, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
I totally second the "BUY IT WHEN YOU SEE IT" on fur (and leather) - I learned this the hard way - and this mostly made me the fabric hoarder that I am today. lol. But seriously, the fabric (fur) that I've bought years ago, I get to use on recent projects which veeeery convenient and lessens the stress. :)
One amazing sewing notion I've discovered in the past year is wonder tape. It's a double-sided water soluble tape that's very useful for aligning fabrics when sewing (such as zippers or appliques) since you just stick it down (rather than fighting pins for a long time). I used it when sewing a zipper this year and was like 'wow. how did it take me this long to try this thing out'. Def recommend if you're going to sew on a lot of detail pieces that would be tough to pin :D
I haven't even started doing any cosplay, but have been watching you for 2 years. Your energy, Benny, doggos aaand "buy my books" make it worth watching ;*
Hi there. My favorite item for cosplay is......... wait for it...... IT'S YOU and your videos! I love watching them and getting inspiration from them. Thank you ever so much for them and for the corgis too. Take care and God bless.
As a seamstress my favourite materials are almost all fabrics. I love Silk Dupioni, taffetas and recently liking wool a lot more after learning tailoring. My favourite crafting materials is foam clay because of course most sewn costumes also need some accessories!
Annie Chie since most of what I do is historical costuming (renfaire), I'm usually looking for handkerchief linen, cotton damask (in appropriate patterns - really hard to find!), cotton velveteen, and wool velvet (for late October outdoor events). Home dec warehouses are my friends! Long cuts, cheap prices if you know what to look for. Cut-down duct ties from Home Depot are great inexpensive bones for stays and bodices. Hemp cording, though heavy, is needed for certain styles of bodices and petticoats.
@@KamuiCosplay i agree books are great. And im seriously considering buying one of yours. Im very interested in a leather desing. Do you have a book that includes fake leather as a topic?
ich habe wegen ihnen angefangen cosplays zu tragen, machen und so weiter! danke für die Motivation!! I started wearing, doing cosplays because of you! thanks for the motivation!!
When you were talking about how you use faux leather and showed those boots I got such a throwback omg- That was the video that got me into Kamui Cosplay :D
I really like the duo cardboard/papermache. It's really cheap, it gives you the opportunity to recycle, it's really easy to use and gives you a smooth result if you smooth it out with you figers before letting it dry !
I don't even cosplay but her energy and voice make these videos entertaining. Although it has given me inspiration to make Halloween costumes for my kids instead of buying them
I've been working on a helmet and I found shrink sheet plastic pretty good for the visor. I put some window film on it as well to give it a gold mirror effect.
Dieses Video ist perfekt! Ich sehe ständig die Frage nach Materialien im deutschen Cosplay Amino. Jetzt können wir einfach dieses Video verlinken und allen ist geholfen. :3
An essential when you start moving from generic patterns to fitting things exactly is Assembil Books How Patterns Work. It takes you from beginning to end, of creating and adjusting patterns, working from blocks, you name it!
yea, I've been a fan of the mass effect trilogy for years, since I was a little lad, and i always wanted to try cosplaying as admiral hackett or captain andersons final look in mass effect 3, with the hat, the earpeace, and the clothing. i want to try, but dont know how to, this video gave me confidence, but idk hey xD
I havent used lace front wings yet but I plan too for future cosplays. I usually buy high quality wings. I found somthing that helps with people that have alot of baby hairs or hair that wont stay in the wig cap, is do hair spray or glue down your hair hairline. This also helps keep the front the wig from slipping.
Number one crafting materal at my place is PLA, Second place is PETG, Third place is TPU. I would have put 3d printer on your listing myself as there is a surprising amount of files out there for horns, masks, wings and other cosplay items that can be downloaded, printed and then painted.
1. ABS 3d printing material 2. Veggie tanned leather for leatherworking and laser crafting 3. Acrylic sheets for laser cutting 4. Silicone for molding 5.Various resins for casting and metal powders for cold casting 6. Metal paints with rust and patina activators 7. Molotow chrome paint 8. Acrylic paints 9. Zbush for sculpting 10. Worbla Eva foam is strictly banned from my house after my cat ate it and had 2 surgeries for removing stuck pieces.
I would love to see a video on any tips and tricks you've learned to help make costumes more comfortable. Anyway, I love the way you do your videos, you and Benni are such an inspiration! Thanks for all your hard work and sharing! :D
WatashiwaJouhouDesu See one is custom tailoring to YOUR body, some is learning how to move in the costume. You may want a friend to help you make a duct tape double for the tailoring part...
My mom & sis needed to find a christmas present for me and know my hobby (I just started) and bought your book and a heatgun and materials thank u for getting to them, it’s the first time i thought my mom was okay with it 🥰 I was really surprised bc I watched a lot of you’re vids. Thank u so much!
Great top 10! Always get excited to see a new post from you guys. I started on foam, now using my 3D printers for suit building, but I'm still amazed at what you do with foam. Good to know about Worbla as well. Keep it up! :)
You make these videos seem so easy to make these! Very fun to watch, I look forward to trying out some of these builds myself! Thank you for the inspiration
In leather crafting they have razor-sharp chisel tools to shave off the hide at beveled angles. Fast and clean. It would cut through your foam like butter. There's also pricking irons that pierce guide holes in the hide for easy hand stitching. Have you tried 'Spectra Chrome' for your mirrored metal effects?
Hehe. I held my breath so long.. Had to pause for a few seconds to breathe, before continuing. She said it in the end though, so I can now rest peacefully till the next video comes out! :-D
I just got the digital downloads for a few of your books! So excited! :) I will also definitely check out the others as well! Thank you for inspiring me to finally do so! (I have been viewing for a couple months)
Fake fur/leather is sooo awesome! My mom recently made some pillows out of a beaver fur coat of her friend's and it was a nightmare! Not to mention fake fur/leather = happier animals! ^_^ Great video as always! ♥
I was thinking "haven't you made a video about this before?" ~ but then I was thinking of the tools! lol. I HIGHLY second on buying the fur once you see it! Furs are rare finds - unless you know a shop that sells it. But then again, common fur designs easily gets out of stock too.

My secret crafting material is puffy paint, it works so good as a flexible adhesive and to add detail
Eric Smith i use puffy paint to do fake embroidery, i put the puffy paint on then sew over it so it’s raised
Great tip
@@cryot9791 Do you sew over the paint by hand or machine?
Kirandae i do it by hand, i think it looks better when i do it by hand
