Derek, I wanted let you know, your question to Kevin regarding motivation to do a certain project or the lack of motivation to do the project struck a chord with me. When I lack the motivation to do my own project, I watch one of your videos. Your special car guy language allows a fella to start looking at the ‘sparkalators’ and ‘fire make it happener’. Soon I am adding ice cube juice to the ‘rajiator’ and installing a new ‘lightning cube’. Thanks for the motivation.

The part of the conversation regarding how many more projects you can actually accomplish has come home to me and my circle of friends. We are now in our late 60s and 70s and one of the hardest decisions we have to make is which ones to focus on and letting go of the rest. I retired this year and instagated the 10 year rule. If I cannot finish it within the next 10 years I have to let it go. Not only do they distract you they take up space. They're always in the background whispering "hey, I just need a few minutes of your time". Sending them to someone that will carry out that dream is the next hardest part, like giving up a part of your family. One thing to remember, as we get older we get slower so if you're planning your projects in your 50's, remember to add about 50% more time to accomplish the same amount of work in your 70's. Great content from both of you!! Keep it coming!

Great video. Kevin is a legend. I went to paint and body school 30yrs ago, just so I could paint my own stuff for buying and flipping cars and trucks. Unless you own the shop it’s hard to make a living in the auto body field because the insurance companies control the pay. Kevin is right, body work makes the paint job. 🇺🇸🦅

Thanks for this video Derek and Kevin. Listening to Kevin's struggles trying to find his niche' sounded ohh so familiar. My guess is it was the struggles the majority of us had to endure before we found our's. Mine was concrete construction. Got a job as a laborer, wanted to learn to be a finisher, worked for free after my laborer day was done which usually was only 5 or 6 hours a day and I'd swing back to the job where the finishers were working, asked if they'd let me try and one day my boss pulled up to the job, dropped off a bucket of brand new tools and said,, "Starting today you're no longer a laborer,, you're a finisher." and my life took off. 4 years later I started a flatwork business of my own and that kept my family housed, fed, clothed, medical issues and all it took to take care of 5 kids, my wife and myself for over 30 years. "Success is NOT a DESTINATION,, it's a JOURNEY"

THIS episode is by far my favorite. I had no idea Kevin had a singing background. He mentions opera names, Sills, Pavarotti, Domingo. I studied opera/jazz at FSU and my voice teachers were contemporaries of all of them and performed with them often. Way cool to see another singer find his way to muscle cars like me. I thought I was the odd man out on that one. haha. Wicked cool, Kev. Rock on!

I’ve been subscribed to VGG since there was an actual ‘day job’. I’ve also been watching KT for even longer. When Kevin was talking about sitting down with producers and they said ‘This isn’t your show. This is the viewers show. What you’re selling is inspiration and hope.’ That in a nutshell is the formula for Derek’s success. VGG makes me look at my 77 Camaro and actually feel like this is something I CAN finish (well.. make run again) and motivates me to take steps.
That…and the support of our vets/active military and fathering and fan interaction and the genuinely humble personality….
So, thanks Derek and KT. This weekend I’m dropping the ‘make it go forward/reverse’. I’ll spray it when she moves under her own power.

I had the good fortune to bump into Kevin at SEMA a few years ago...I have purchased Kevin's Paintucation DVDs and painted my '66 Ranchero. I was able to share some photo's with Kevin. The '66 Ranchero was featured on Stacey David's show back in 2018 in the What U Work'n On segment. The reason I build the 66 Ranchero was watching Kevin paint a 67 Ranchero with Stacey on Trucks. The '66 Ranchero is a Ford version of Stacey's Copper Head build...folks like Stacey, Kevin and Derek, are great teachers. TY for sharing your knowledge with us all and keeping it real. I would not have been successful with my '66 Ranchero project with out you...be well!

I was especially happy to hear Kevin talk about recognizing we're mortal,, we must recognize the things we do with our lives is important to "our legacy". What can we leave behind when we exit this life,, what will our kids, our Grand kids remember us for. Will they smile when they're telling their kids about "my Grandpa loved and was very good at doing this,," t is important we're remembered for something otherwise our time on earth may have been for nothing.

Great episode, have been watching Mr. Tetz for years, always enjoyed his work. OH, and the "mystery box" was fun!
