Bob Ross thank you so much for uploading these videos. I have been watching these videos since season 5 and I loved it. We will miss you but never be forgotten and again thanks.
He probably wasn't the best painter ever, but still, he was really good, and an amazing instructor and human being. He was also pretty good at promoting his brand, the Edison of the painting world.
Yeah that might be overselling him there. He might go down in popular culture in USA for certain age group, but as a painter he doesn't rank anywhere past 100 years, let alone past 700 years. That said he was an amazing human being and a great teacher for hobby painters and should certainly be appreciated for that. Neither does it mean one can't of course enjoy his paintings.
In the first episode of this entire show, Bob says something along the lines of "Everyone grows up thinking they need to do years and years of school or be blessed by Michaelangelo in order to paint, but that's not true." At minute 14:06 in his final episode he says: "You don't have to be blessed by Michaelangelo, you don't have to go to school half your life. You can paint." I love this so much

Yeah it sucks at beautiful people like Bob are taken away from us too early and a lot of times by a terrible disease nothing of their own doing. I started watching Bob in the 80s when I was a teenager the first episode that I watched on TV I couldn't believe how it made me feel. I was at total peace and calmness. That was the first time I watch something and felt like that the only bad part was when the episode was over I was kind of bummed that I had to wait for the next episode not like today with RUclips. I just wished Bob would have known back then that even today he would be making people like myself (never watched it to learn how to paint) feel the peace and warmth come over me every time I watch him.
I started to cry at that time too bc it reminded of me watching him when I was little and I rather watch him than any old Cartoon. Bob Ross was my inspiration to draw paint etc. Till this day his passing hurt me. I'll never give up in my art passion I'll keep at art just like Bob. And to make Bob proud I'll do it to him. I really looked up to him too. Edit: I watched him on PBS btw I'm still in my teens but he made a big impact in my life.
Johnny Cade This is amazing because I’m in the same boat. marsflwr yeah same he died 12 years before I was born. Even though he died he is still loved and when people who would write him letters everyday fell out of touch he would check in with them to make sure they were ok. He was one of kindest people someone would ever meet.
I stopped going to see my psychiatrist after I started watching Bob because I stopped having panic attacks watching and listening to his calming voice. I started using his catch phrase "beat the devil out of them" and I use that to refer to anything negative in my life. Thank you Bob.
Here I am, crying at 2am because Bob was too good of a soul to pass away. I hope he knows how much we miss him and how much he has inspired so many people. Merry part, my dude. 💛

How do u know that this beautiful painting is here? There was a painter of course! So how can u say that something as beautiful as our earth was created by nothing? Science proves itself wrong in saying that (scientifically) that it is impossible for nothing to make everything! Where did the explosion come from? Where did this beautiful painting (aka the earth) come from other than a talented painter/architect/builder/artist, who made it?
His show went on for 11 years and over those 11 years he did show us the joys of painting may he Rest In Peace knowing he is still touching people all over the world
"The old clock tells me it's about time for me to bring this show, and this series, to a close". What a bitter sweet thing to have said on his final episode. Rest in peace Bob
30 Years Ago Today May 17, 1994 - May 17, 2024 Many of us did not know at the time this would be the final episode ever of "The Joy of Painting" and did not know Bob was sick. This was around the time I began watching him after he did a couple of promo IDs for MTV.
This has probably been the most passionate and positive comment section on RUclips I've ever seen and....... It brings a little tear to my eye to see all the people this man has brought happiness to
It's been a great ride everyone, but all good things come to an end. If only he knew that over 20 years after him passing he is still just as loved :) Rest in peace, Bob. Can't wait to meet you when I bite the dust.
Лина Щеголева he's immortal hiding in a cave somewhere still painting to this day, recording episodes like crazy until he makes his return in 2030 with over 1000 painting episodes ready to be aired every Saturday at 7 a.m for the next 5 years or more
The truly heartbreaking thing about this episode is that Bob was filming it right after finding out he had lymphoma, and that he didn't have much time left. He literally knew he was dying as he gave his final farewell we see here. All with a smile.
You know what makes it worse, a possible cause for lymphoma is long term exposure to paint thinner. You know what he washed his brushes in before he beat the devil out of them? Straight paint thinner.
@@Fluffinator129 True and so sad. He and his wife both passed away less than three years of each other of cancer in their early 50s. Idk if Jane’s type of cancer has ever been confirmed, but I have wondered if both got ill because of such exposure.
I could see him going to hell facing the devil and the devil minions and use a paint brush (this is like thor Ragnarak where thor uses his Hammer to kill the minions)
@Megan McCarthy King He actually did - after his last episode of Joy of Painting, he came to this studio to shoot and draw his last picture for "The Adventures of Elmer & Friends", episode 1. That was his last appearance on TV. It was released a year after his death, and had a special tribute.

Even though I’ve never been able to watch his show on air, I am able to watch it on here, and I’m extremely happy that I can. It’s just hard to imagine that I bet he couldn’t even imagine that when he was gone, his show would still be prevalent and inspire anyone who wishes to paint or even just relax as people do wish to watch his show for “ASMR” RIP Bob Ross, your image will forever be in our hearts ♥️
This man took his 11 years and just dedicated himself to teach people how to paint. He never gave up, from the first episode, he always believed in people, telling them that they CAN do it every time. He never believed in what other's said, to him, talent was a pursued interest, anything that you were willing to practice, you could do. On top of all, even after almost 30 years, Bob was able to touch peoples hearts again in the Covid19 lockdown when channels started to air his show again. It's all just mind bogglingly wholesome and amazing. Thank you Bob, for being who you were.
Still amazes me how much I can miss someone that I never met. But somehow it feels like missing a family member. Happy this is all still available to this day. Thanks to the Bob Ross team for keeping this alive.
Here it is: Sad, Sadder, Saddest. The last episode of a true PBS masterpiece: The Joy of Painting, probably one of the best TV programs ever made, and even though Bob Ross is gone, he is never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Bob Ross: 1942-1995.

For years I never knew he died, back in 95, people still read newspapers and watched the TV news as computers hadn't quite taken hold of our lives yet, so I just continued watching his episodes like he was alive..somehow it seems like he's still here with us, and will live on through the generations who are captivated by his joy for painting
According to www.tv.com, this episode aired May 17, 1994. I wonder if Bob knew at the time that it would be his last episode of "The Joy of Painting". :'(
1958PonyBoy Of course, I'm just speaking on the fact of how happy he was. I can't imagine that he got upset even being told he was dying. I imagine he lived a very full and happy life and didn't squander a single bit.
It's like watching a movie where you know the main character is going to die, you know how it ends, and yet you hope that somehow they're going to make it. That somehow they're going to survive. And you can't help but clinge to the last of their words like fleeting air in your lungs, knowing now what the character doesn't know. What their smile tells you that they don't know. That they're going to die.

I get the whosomness and dont want to mess things up but he died in 2016 so....technically
@@TheIronBagel118 he died July 4, 1995 from lymphoma which is a cancer type

marsflwr yeah same he died 12 years before I was born. Even though he died he is still loved and when people who would write him letters everyday fell out of touch he would check in with them to make sure they were ok. He was one of kindest people someone would ever meet.
Hukodz why do i feel old cos i was born in 1990? 😂
I stopped going to see my psychiatrist after I started watching Bob because I stopped having panic attacks watching and listening to his calming voice. I started using his catch phrase "beat the devil out of them" and I use that to refer to anything negative in my life. Thank you Bob.
thats so inspiring...i am happy for you ...i watch his video before falling asleep...it is truly calming
He is the king of ASMR without realising it
You should do a little bit of research on ASMR. It will help you a lot! Or at least I hope it relaxes you!
Bob would say: "God bless".
This is so crazy inspiring! I'm also going to use his phrase.
"i hope to see you all very soon"
"Til next time"

How do u know that this beautiful painting is here? There was a painter of course! So how can u say that something as beautiful as our earth was created by nothing? Science proves itself wrong in saying that (scientifically) that it is impossible for nothing to make everything! Where did the explosion come from? Where did this beautiful painting (aka the earth) come from other than a talented painter/architect/builder/artist, who made it?

Good things dont come to an end they just move on
The truly heartbreaking thing about this episode is that Bob was filming it right after finding out he had lymphoma, and that he didn't have much time left. He literally knew he was dying as he gave his final farewell we see here. All with a smile.
He found out in 1990, by the end of 1994 he was very weak.
Wow, i did not know that.
@@YouDonteverhavetodiedidn’t know what henri said or harrison? Because they both said different things. Henri is correct.
I imagine every now and then Bob Ross will come down from heaven with a 2 inch brush and beat the devil out of the devil.
I could see him going to hell facing the devil and the devil minions and use a paint brush (this is like thor Ragnarak where thor uses his Hammer to kill the minions)
So he is the doom guy but not a angry killing machine

This man took his 11 years and just dedicated himself to teach people how to paint. He never gave up, from the first episode, he always believed in people, telling them that they CAN do it every time. He never believed in what other's said, to him, talent was a pursued interest, anything that you were willing to practice, you could do.
On top of all, even after almost 30 years, Bob was able to touch peoples hearts again in the Covid19 lockdown when channels started to air his show again.
It's all just mind bogglingly wholesome and amazing.

They actually started recording some episodes for season 32, but sadly, Bob was to weak to finish.

Thanks. I didn't know that.
Yeah. You should watch the Bob Ross documentary. It has all kinds of interesting facts like that.
They tried to do season 32 but with his failing health he didn't get too far. They mention it in the "Happy Painter" documentary.
