  • The political failures of the past years, and the current economic apocalypse, have encouraged the Zentrum party's chairman to resign. This threatens to tear apart Germany's biggest political party at the ideological seams, and adds yet another item to the long list of crises von Schleicher has to manage.
At least the cavalry is successful in East Asia.

Thanks a lot! I'm quite familiar with HOI4 itself, but this is my first time playing with a total conversion mod in general, and Kaiserreich specifically. I absolutely love the lore, and the amount of thought that has gone into the scenario.
I've initially chosen von Schleicher's path, since it seemed the least straightforward, and therefore the most interesting, and I don't regret it. I don't know how it comes across, but I'm actually trying to explore how a democracy drifts towards a totalitarian state, and so far, the game's events have been perfect for that. I think they're positioning von Schleicher as a "Nazi leader without the racism", as we're definitely starting to see fascist tendencies. That said, historically, von Schleicher wasn't a Nazi, just a ruthless pragmatist and opportunist, which ended up being his downfall. So here, I'm trying to portray a leader who means well, and sees the danger the nation is in externally, combined with utter frustration of the mess and selfishness that is characterising emerging democratic structures, which leads him down a more and more authoritarian path.
That's my plan so far for the overall story arc, from "the man who came in from outside to save the nation" to "how did we end up like this?", with maybe a bit of a warning for today's times as well. We'll see.

@@StoriesandStrategieswithTerry I havnt played much Kaiserreich since the German empire update. Not that I don’t enjoy it, it’s just pretty difficult and I’m not very good. But one time I did play I went all the way to the right and created a very dystopian German empire where the dvlp reorganized the empire, slowly taking power away from the Kaiser and the people. Due to the politics of the time and given the natural enemies the German empire found itself up against, I figured the moderate government and the Kaiser would do anything to prevent an SDP victory

My impression is that the creators took a lot of inspiration from the Weimar struggles, and the scenarios aren't clean-cut - you take a side, but there's always a downside, a challenge, and nothing ends up perfect. Which is a pretty realistic take, and quite refreshing.

1 tip for the future: If the Austrians and the Hungarians go to war with each other, ergo the ausgeleich goes wrong and the Hungarians rebel (which is very likely and usually the case) if the Hungarians win by capitulation I think they still have a choise to give some of the none core lands away to others (usually that means Austria and maybe the Sudetanlands to Germany) so I would advise you tho help them win their rebellion and try to do it so that they achive the capitulation of Austria and not the peace by stealmate.

You can get Anchslus but the Austrian empire can be a good ally.

Thanks, I'll see when it comes to that. There sure are a lot of revolutions going on, and depending on what government Germany ends up with (I'm trying for Schleicher, but from what I understand, that's not guaranteed, and / or I might mess things up), we'll see which side makes most sense to support story-wise.

This series is more long form than I would usually watch, but I find his lack of knowledge means he’s playing more like a real leader not knowing what events will happen.

Interesting point, it's actually something I think I highlighted in the past, because we know what's going to happen historically, we as players have really unfair advantages. When I did the poll for this series, I was planning to do some test runs, at least for the basic mechanics and to map out my focus route etc, which is what I used to do in the past.
Going in blind, in the end, turned out to be a good decision - it makes me appreciate the lore even more (since I need to keep an eye on every detail that can help me decide), and like you said, it's more "real" than a more optimised approach.
I did a historical Soviet series (no mods) back on my other channel, before the split, and in the end, it turned out to be "too easy" in hindsight. I've been tossing around some ideas for what series I'll do next after this one, but we'll see, it does take a bit of time :)

Thanks mate, much appreciated! I've got a shortlist of games ready that I want to feature next, once the Ultimate Admiral series concludes, I'll throw something else in the mix in its place (UAD will continue, but more as one-off or miniseries for a while).
