I think persistent hangars is just HUGE. Giving players a secure, personal space they can decorate, work in, customize and such is just a massive win, and a lot of folks will spend a ton of time just enjoying their stuff in their hangar, having virtual parties, just all kinds of stuff. This and the dynamic economy are gonna be huge game changers for SC.

I endorse that CIG is keeping the first release of creatures into SC under wraps as much as possible, as this is something I very much want to experience myself for the first time as much as possible. @Arthillis 9 месяцев назад +1

Nahh they use procedural generation but they hand craft the planets. They have said in the past that with current planet tech one person can generate a usable planet in a day. The more difficult things is populating it with interesting points of interests and assets. So if they have a single studio with 100 people just making systems they could churn out several bare bones systems in a week without AI doing it for them.

I called it 'critical mass'... We passed it a few years ago. It was the point when enough progress had been made, and enough pledge cash coming in, that the question of 'if' died and it all became about 'when'.
Star Citizen is inevitable. The most ambitious game EVER attempted is going to be made as envisioned.
No power in the 'verse can stop it now.
I do say they will miss their stated goal of building the BDSSE (Best Damned Space Sim Ever).... But they aren't missing by falling short. They are blowing right past it and hitting BDGE (Best Damned Game Ever.... Sorry Chess, you had a good run)
As of now, how could a major studio ever compete with this? EA could spend a billion dollars trying to develop a rival... And would waste a billion dollars trying. I mean, Star Field is fun, takes a lot of hate, but I like it.... Compete with Star Citizen however? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA uh.... No. It can't.
Its taking longer than anyone wanted, but we are getting the insane game we pledged for.
Ive called this The Moon Shot of the gaming world. The breadth and depth of ambition of what they attempted feels a lot like Apollo to me.
And right now Neil and Buzz have detached the LM from the command module and are breaking orbit down to the surface....
Its gonna happen. This year, next, 2026... Whatever. Ive waited this long.
No worries. No fears. All we must do now is exercise a little more patience until we cross the finish line.
We can't bust out the Champagne and celebrate yet... But now is the time to buy a few bottles to have on hand for that moment.
    Star Citizen is inevitable.

Has there been any word on if/when they're changing the way your eyes adjust to the interior ship HUD? It's currently impossible to see on the night side of a planet in most of the ship's cockpits without pinging every second and that's really annoying when 99% of the missions spawn on the dark side of a planet. It's not just that it's dark either, in most cases I can see fine when in third person. I understand that it's realistic for your eyes to adjust to bright lights making darker spaces harder to see, but even now we have dimming lights in our cars for night time driving and I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have dimming HUD's in the 2950's.

Seems like pvp is going to be pay to win. That is to say people who can afford rigs that can do ray tracing are going to have a major advantage in fighting in dark places over people who can't. Honestly this is kinda true for most pvp in SC, hardware advantage is always going to be a factor unless CIG can find a way to level the playing field (eye trackers and hosas/hotas vs kb+m is a good example for hardware advantage in ship pvp)

Somebody having a better computer than somebody else is not CIG's fault though? Powerful PC's with higher performance having an advantage has been an age-old problem for PC gaming since forever.
I'm sure there's an argument to be made there about game optimization between as many different set-ups as possible, but at the end of the day, that's just a risk PvPers with a crappy rig just have to accept.
