The great duo as always exploring Singapore. Ghib-san won't feel too lonely and lost anymore when there's Uncle Jimmy haha! Thank you for the hard work!
For those that didn't know the differences between the Japanese dumplings(Gyoza) and Chinese dumplings(Jiao Zi), Japanese Gyoza's "wrapping skin" is usually much thinner than Chinese Jiao Zi and thus it is often more popular. The stall that Ghib-San visited however, seems to have the impressive skills to make thin Chinese Jiao Zi "wrapping skin" which is really not easy and so it is probably why they are so popular! 👍🏻
Actually Gyoza is not more popular than Chinese dumpling. In fact in local more people consume chinese dumplings in hawkers and restarants. not only difference with the skin thickness, chinese dumpling either has more meat or with prawn than gyoza
@@KelvinCrLin There was actually a dumpling competition in China in 1994 and the judges were all Chinese. They went through a blind taste test and the Japanese Gyoza unanimously won against dumplings all over the world including Chinese and Italian. There was a rematch in 1997 and the judges were again all Chinese but this time, all except 1 judge voted for the Japanese Gyoza. I believe there are some places with extremely good Chinese dumplings with high quality ingredients which will definitely be more popular than those cheap frozen Japanese dumplings found in supermarkets and there are some place with extremely good Japanese dumplings made with high quality ingredients which will definitely be more popular than those cheap frozen Chinese dumplings found in supermarkets also. However, at the end of the day, due to the differences in level of agricultural between Japan and China and thus affecting the quality of the ingredients they can produce, the Japanese Gyoza thus have the upper hand here using the highest quality flour to make the wrapping skin and the most flavourful Kurobuta(black pig) to make the meat fillings. Many years ago when I was in Japan, I visited a Michelin star restaurant that served Gyoza that had Kurobuta pork, shark fins, white truffles and Foie Gras for filling and it was the best ever dumpling I have ever eaten in my life! 😋
I would recommend you eating the xiao long bao in a spoon so that the juices doesn’t burst out like what happened. 😃 Dip it in the vinegar first, then put in on a spoon, poke a hole so that the juices flow out so it can chill before you eat it.
I've been working around Chinatown for mny year never get the chance to try as the q is too long to wait for my 1hr lunch time. Maybe I shd go like 11am to try this good deal chicken. Yours introduction jus too tempting to missed. Jimmy u so famous auntie also recognised u wz the mask on. Too charming liao. 😘😘
18:07 Ah balling (teochew name) also known as tangyuan is what the Chinese would traditionally eat on the 15th/last day of CNY and on the winter solstice. The peanut soup is the best!
Such a lovely duo exploring Singapore, enjoying delicious 😋 food... Just looking at the food alone makes me salivate 😂😅😅 Thank you, Jimmy and Ghib-san!
The pandemic has definitely made it hard to eat out at local places like this. So nice to see this video. Keep up the great content and keep on eat travel 🙌💯
Guide to eat xiao long bao: 1) bite a small hole in at the side of the skin 2) drink the soup 3) dip the rest in the provided vinegar, adding with a few strands of ginger 4) eat it in one mouth (or multiple mouthful) Do NOT eat Xiao Long Bao in one mouthful as the soup may be super hot!
I suggest you try the coffee/tea at "Da Hua Cha Shi" at Chinatown Complex. The uncle at the stall makes an effort to make authentic coffee/tea for his customer.
Hawker Chan used to be called Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken before they got famous. had queued for 30min then. after they got famous, longest i had queued was 1hr.... alot of ppl rather go to the airconditioned franchise shop nearby, but not only is it more pricey, it is not as tasty as the original. i'd rather queue for the original. should eat the noodles asap after ordering!
Hi Rachael - Yong Tau Foo indeed one of my favorites! Other good ones are at Boon Keng / Bendemeer Rd Hawker Centre , Mattar Rd to Yishun Town Centre. Trust you have tried them
Ghib-San, there's actually a very famous very nice Chinese Nasi Lemak stall once located there that was relocated to Hong Lim Market & Food Centre just a few streets down the road beside Chinatown Point! It's located on the 2nd floor immediately after the bridge connecting Chinatown Point and the hawker centre, do go and try it out next time! There's also a Char Kway Teow on the 2nd floor and Curry Chicken Noodle there on the 1st floor that is to die for! 😋
I visited this hawker centre many times and all those stalls that Jimmy recommended are also my favourites. The you tiao is one of the best in Singapore in my personal opinion. 18mins queue for the chicken noodles is really fast, the price have increased slightly which is understandable due to inflation and cost increase.
Do a video on satay by the bay. Is that a food hawker area that has mainly satay??? Someone has a food truck called that name in San Francisco. Didn’t know she got the name from Singapore. She is from Singapore.
I got a crazy recommendation for you. I back this place till the day I die. You need to try Don Don Sg. It's located at 90 Tanjong Pagar. It's expensive but I promise you that you'll love it. Every time i'm there, there's always Japanese people eating and drinking beer.
Hi i always hsppy to see Jimmy he is such a lively person his knowledge if food places even country is so ama zing iit is wonderful to be with Jimmy to eat travel sing he is obe person no one will ever ever regret having him well done Jimmy God bless y
Hi Ghib, good video on my favourite stalls of Jiaoxi and Hakka yong tau foo. However there’s a better stall selling Abaling in Beach Road Fd Centre. By the way, where can your nice Japanese print mask be purchased 👍🤣? Thank You.
Yes I "drink" the chilli from my market's chicken rice stall as well. I prefer their noodles to rice. Like the noodles QQ texture. Alamak you missed the Hong Kong Mongkok dim sum stall again. (You can see them making char siew paos in the stall, super delicious and popular) Lol should try other stalls that u have not tasted or feature before. I remember you showed the xiaolongbao stall and the neighbouring stall spotted u. You replied you will try theirs next time🤣
Thank you very much indeed JAY ! The whole Chinatown is so historical with endless good hawkers to restaurants food. Did you also watch RUclips : Lost Ojisan - Tour of Chinatown ?
I really enjoyed Hawker Chan's food last time i was there and it was worth lining up for. I just hope most of the Hawker's in SG survive these trying times....as i'm sure there's another hawker chan out there somewhere yet to be discovered for their quality also
Sad that some has retired or went bust. Gladly many survived well with supports given by the Gov. It's like Singapore Airlines appearing like on the way to bankruptcy but sprang back to good profitability again.
The great duo as always exploring Singapore. Ghib-san won't feel too lonely and lost anymore when there's Uncle Jimmy haha! Thank you for the hard work!
I am honored to read this IZ The One !
Person with no temper, laugh often and have a smiley face 24 by 7 is a very bless and fortunate person. That’s Uncle Jimmy for you 👍👍👍
What a great compliment from you RAY - very much appreciated indeed
ジミーさんの笑顔が素晴らしいですね。

They actually just put it through the machine which is why it is so thin lol. You can see it in the video.
@@reveirg9
True, but it still takes a lot of skills to work with such thin wrappings and not break it while filling the dumpling with so much meat!

Good idea Bboy
Honestly, this is the first time seeing the hawkers so happy meeting their customers Jimmy and Ghib San, most times they look tired when I visit one.

Jimmy’s recommendation is spot on! That Yong Tau Fu is really delicious & taste very comforting 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you liked one of my favorite Yong Tau Fu to the Coffee stall next to it Margaret
So happy you liked it - Love at first bite ! I normally order extra Fish Cakes
Thanks very much Margaret
Uncle Jimmy ! You are a star now 👍🏻👍🏻😁
Thanks very much JOHNZ !
This is my favourite YTF stall too! I would go all the way there just to eat this YTF. The chilli is delicious!!

For me , this Michelin stall chicken just taste normal. U should try the stall 瑪利亞 (Maria) ,I prefer their soy sauce chicken .
... says the common man, disagreeing with the experts.
I collapsed when he said he will drink the chilli. Next time i go Japan and drink their Wasabi 😋
Don't drink wasabi... You must eat wasabi like it's soft serve ice cream🍦
The char siu is very good. I would queue (on quiet days) to eat it.
Yeah. Jimmy is back!!!!!
Haha M Lee ! Thanks for your support 1
Both of you together is funny. Keep up d good friend ship. Uncle Jimmy, don't eat too much
Thank you for your concerns Jin Hwa
The YTF stall only provides chillies, or sweet sauce too upon request. And Ghib's MIL is sure to love the glutinous rice balls dessert.
Nice to hear your comments Eline

😋🤤🤤🤤 Wow... So good appetite...
Jimmy knows all the good stalls in Chinatown @8:50 whoa Uncle Jimmy is famous!!

Singapore Chinatown,
Many delicious food!
'Yummy Videos❤❤❤
I'm surprised that the hawkers were smiling when you all got there. Did you go early in the morning?
Good recommendation, hawker center Chinatown full of delicious food
Yeah, we have the same feeling. Still enjoying the food after over 60 years frequenting this Chinatown area
@ghibojisan Can we mix the flavours for the mochi balls?
$3 for the noodle ?
There is store in KL, Malaysia. I tried it and it was no big deal.
EVERYTHING LOOK SO YUMMY YUMMY DELICIOUS 😋🤤
They have an air conditioned shop selling the same dishes just across the road. The waiting time is much faster.
Never tried hawker chan before but man the chicken looks perfect; tender, moist and the skin looks good. As for the rice, looks bland...
Yes, the rice is plain rice and the texture was a bit too soft. I recommend the noodles!
How did ghibsan get to meet jimmysan?

Uncle Jimmy is so cute, please invite him again 😉
Grateful for yr kind comment NADIA

@@jimmyyap3828 yes i think i did, enjoyed it!
what type of rice di hawken chan use? chicken rice or just steam rice?
The semi pan fried dumpling is actually called guotie
Yes, in Japanese Guotie is 餃子, so I always get mixed up!
Jiao zi is the steamed one, Guo tie is the fried one.
UNCLE JIMMY SO CUTE 🥺🥺
Thank you Bangtanball
Hi there Bangtanball !
Thank you for yr compliment
Thanks for your compliment
I remembered in the last video, u promised the omelette stall owners that u will try their food - I hope you fulfilled ur promise or 🔜
Yes GHIB did that
Why jumpy didn’t chew his food?
the hawkers are so nice!
Indeed, many are very friendly
Why is there no veggies on this soya sauce chicken with noodles?
That’s my all time favourite Yong tau foo stall .. comfort food.
Wow Jimmy, next time must buy me lunch here.
It's a deal Roger
IMHO, the nice n non ajinomoto heavy-handed stalls here is the Hill St CKT, Amoy Chendol, chef Leung's chee cheong fan.
Nice & Yummy Food. Good Choice 👍
Jimmy can tell m the unit for the dumpling.

I still prefer my yong tau foo with extra hoisin sauce, without it tastes really bland.. =(
Can perhaps get a serving of food and two plates so you all can just share each time instead eating a whole day's worth of food for one just meal. 😂
Drink chili sauce is nothing.
But, if you drink gravy, you are king.
which is better, xiao long bao or the Jiao Zi?
I personally prefer the fried dumplings!
