- It is so nice to travel outside of the typical destinations of Las Vegas, New York and all the other great North American cities. My trip to Singapore brings me back to meet old friends and to make and meet new friends as well.
This trip, I'm here to see Lawrence whom I've met during a trip to Vietnam as fellow travellers. We hit of off and even shared a local buffet together, not your typical Vegas buffet, but the local great dished of Vietnam.
This time, Lawrence is showing me his home country with foods from his Peranakan culture. From the fish head curry to the god awful durian, it was a pleasure to dine with him and experience a day of culture and it certainly didn't end there as we continued with a trip to Singapore's Chinatown Hawker center. Indulging in perfectly roast duck as well as perfectly prepared Hainanese chicken rice, it was a great day.
And as even approaches, I took a little side trip to a gourmet hawker center called Gluttons By the Bay. From the iconic Singapore Chili Crab to the legendary satays, it was quite the experience. What happens when you order too much food in Singapore? Well, you make new friends of course and share a beer or two together over sweet tangy saucy crab and charred grilled meats.

Just love the way you treat people!!! The food workers are often disrespected, the way you treat them is a goal for everyone!!!!
Tim is such a gentleman!
That's what makes his videos so enjoyable to watch. He isn't as brazen or in your face trying to over enthusiastically praise the vendors or making cold punny one liners every other moment.
You obviously had a wonderful upbringing where your parents taught you to respect everyone people with tons of money may have no one show up at their funeral Yours would be packed even though I’m sure you have tons of money
My impression of Tim is that he is one of the very few RUclipsrs who are well-mannered, respectful, positive, grateful and calm and sincere. Thumbs up 👍
What I really like about Tim is that he makes friends everywhere. I feel like he is someone I could talk to if I ever saw/met him. Most foodies are much less open to talking to everyone it seems. I really enjoy your Travels Tim and how you talk to the people!
yes - he is a real amazing person and enjoys travelling, eating and getting to know people and their culture
What a fun experience! You are so jovial! You attract wonderful people! All the food looks yummy!
Tim, you make friends every where you go! Very lovely looking food.
Double the potato double the deliciousness! Toad in the hole looks fabulous! And, oh, the banana fritters to top off your dinner! What a great experience. Thank you for sharing. 😊
A private taxi can pick up passengers from the hotel in Johor Bahru to Singapore. The passengers don't need to leave the taxi when passing immigration in Singapore. Great video! 👍👍👍
That's great to know!
Door-to-door and you speed through immigration.
Very helpful info.
Hey Tim ! That's very Kool meeting up with new friends in a different country for food , that's badass !! 😋 you go bro !!
That looks absolutely fantastic. Hawker food in Singapore has a great reputation.
I think I would prefer this to regular restaurants
Hi Tim. Wieder ein tolles Video und das Essen sieht so gut aus.😊 Grüße aus Germany. Sue👍
Thank you for such a nice video about Singapore street food secrets 👍
Hi Tim! Welcome to Singapore!!🇸🇬 So glad you liked the food!
Very lovely video….I liked your friend, he looks like he enjoyed being in the video too….❤
Wow All food looks delicious Thank you for sharing ❤️
Singapore hawker stands are next level
There is a great hawker market near the old airport
I would love to visit the hawkers in Malaysia and Singapore i would probably live at the one you and Lawrence visited
Tim! Great video! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing nice video.
Hey Tim Welcome to Singapore. Enjoy the delicious food we have😋😘
Tim Lee you bring so much joy to my evenings, I really appreciate your videos, I found this particular one so enjoyable, loved the food, Thanking you, very delicious*😋🤗**

Another excellent video. Thanks for taking us along...
Hey tim hope all is well everything looks so good as always thanks for sharing your videos again I love watching them sending love from Houston Texas
I hope you got back to your hotel room okay! 😂 That was a lot of beer! I am so hungry after watching this. I wish you could have more people join you so that you could try more food. But, that boiled chicken and rice has my mouth watering!
I love Durian, lol thanks for taking me with you! Always wanted to go to Singapore ,but won’t be able to make such a long trip.
My daughter, her husband and my grand kid lives near the marina. I tried to eat as many dishes at the hawker center within 3 days and they are all good and it looks very clean and brighter from your video. I'm sure you enjoyed your stay in SG Well, except for the weather sometimes. 😁
Nice to hear you have so many relatives and family in Singapore. I would certainly go for a hawker stalls for all three days as well 😋
Niko was digging for gold when you took your bite of the chilli crab.😂😅🤣
Oh gosh... I'll have that adjusted for sure 😆
😂 Tim's a great guy, so we miss it now. Lol.
Great personality; always treating the chefs/staff/vendors as friends. We luv his smile.
@@TimLeeLetsGodudeeee, why'd you have to censor it. It's part of the entertainment 😂
Nice haircut. Amazing food and vlog
The Johor/Spore hairstylist did a great job.
Credit for the vlog goes to Tim.
I almost end up in the emergency room by too much indulgence at the hawker centres and I couldn’t stop eating the wonderful and delicious food
Night Street Food in Singapore back in the day was way better my friend so my mom tells me. late 50,s we had a made back then she was very good ,and payed well. as my dad was in the Royal Air Force back then. the Indian food was good as well from the restraint to the home from the back garden servers was v good. thank you all.😍😍😍.
Oh thank you thank you…. Brings back great memories when I watched your vdo, Tim. Awesome and mahalo once again 😋😋😋👍🏼.
Hi Tim, you don't need to travel that far for Singapore foods. There are two new opened Singapore Hawker in Burnaby and Coquitlam. You can try when you are back.😊
Hi Tim I have been watching you eating buffet in the US. Glad that you are visiting my country. Thanks for being so nice to everyone. And the vibe is fantastic. BTW just sub your channel.
Really enjoying Singapore... Even the humidity 🥵😉
Welcome to Singapore Tim. Have a great stay
Thank you very much and enjoying it immensely 😃
You have such a honest, fabulous personality. I would happily sit down with you to share a meal ❤🍽
The food in Singapore is so delicious and there's so much choice. We don't eat in the Restaurants and much prefer the hawker centres, both for price and taste.
As good as it is our absolute favourite, worldwide, is Thai food in Thailand.
We have nothing as good as this in Australia and I hope the younger Singaporeans support the hawker centres rather than fast food before it is gone, and they are gone.
Really enjoyed the hawker stalls as well. Good to know about Thailand! 😃. If it's as good as singapore, it'll be a great treat 😃
Hi Tim,
Wonderful to see all the lovely Singapore food. Did you enjoy otak? I miss eating this.
There is a peranakan snack food place called Bengawan Solo located at shopping malls.
Another good hawker centre is East Coast Food Village. Near the beach. Specialty includes grilled seafoods. There is also a variety of Katong Laksa at various locations which features coconut heavily in the broth. 328 Laksa is one such brand.
Thank you so much. I did enjoy the otak very much. Thank you so much for all the wonderful suggestions... I've noted them and always love a good laksa 😋
I know this is a lot of info.
Has Lawrence mentioned Nyonya Bak Zhang? It's a pyramid shaped rice dumpling. The brand is Kim Choo located in the basement of various shopping malls. The pork is cooked with a type of sweet melon..can't describe the taste except to say heavenly. In Australia we order from a private seller. No one sells this full time here. No disrespect but I don't quite like the Bak Zhang of other dialect groups. I suppose it's an acquired taste. I am of Chiu Chou / Peranakan heritage.
Very nice Tim. I visited there last August and loved checking out the different food hawker stalls. Can't wait to go back and try more places and the great food.
Really having fun exploring Singapore as well. It must have been quite warm in August 😉
@@TimLeeLetsGo It was a little warm and raining, but still a fun time. Can't wait to go back to try the places I missed that you went to.
Wow you met the Singaporean food expert Mr. KF Seetoh. Good job Tim.
It all looked so good. You should have dipped the banana fritters in the crab chili sauce. Hide that banana flavor. Ha, ha. The beer "tower" was pretty fun looking.
Lawrence is a doll but you would make an awesome friend to anyone. I just love you.
Lawrence is quite the character... A very nice guy and a class act... And a character for sure 🙂
Ciao Tim 👋 👋
Greetings from Greenwich London ⚓️⛵️
Cheers ☕️🫖👍🌹✅
Coca Cola needs to sponsor you, too, Tim. You're just advertising for them for free, but they haven't yet seen the great reviews and contents you've shown on your channel. Great video here as always!
I’ll take plate #2 please. That looks so good
as a SG local warm welcome! Hope you had a great time! and a good foodie experience!
Hi tim great video looks like you were having a good time and you looked a little warm also😅 that crab looked fantastic
Yeah, it was a little bit warm for sure, but really enjoyed the day with the good friends and the good food
i realy appreciate your efforts and i like your videos - the always are very informativ and you are really intersted in food, people and culture - no matter where you go!!
Really grateful to get to see Lawrence again and thankful for his time and efforts for showing me around. It was a very enjoyable day
Good video I have been to Singapore many times. The only area I eat is in Geylang district that’s where the locals eat 😊
Oh my gosh Tim!!! Do you ever get full!! Haha. I feel full watching you !!😊😊😊
It was a lot of food that day, and yes, I was exceptionally full 😋
Sugar cane juice with no sugar?? Diet?😂
You're in my favorite city. I want to retire there, but it's getting pretty expensive. Maybe I'll retire next door in Malaysia instead?😁
You have to order the mantou (sp?) with chili crab to soak up the sauce.
Try the ice/ais kachang, but be sure they shave the ice. Look for the ice shaving machine before you order. If you don't see one they use crushed ice. I get one a day!🐷
Lol. Poor Tim, more durian! 🤣🤣🤣 I love Hainanese chicken rice. Those banana fritters look like the ones my mum made.
Great food Tim, 😋
Great to see you in Singapore, Tim. I spent years of my childhood in Singapore. It's an unforgettable little island, with wonderful hawker stalls and cuisine diversity. Gotta get the Indian egg roti pratas with curry dipping sauce! Hainan Chicken, Satay, you know what to do!
Thank you so much for your suggestion, the Hainan chicken sounds amazing and will definitely seek out more
Another country I would like to visit
wonderful food there in Singapore, the people are all so lovely as well. I knew that carrot cake was not real carrot cake, I remember watching a video of Singapore street food and they got the asme thing thinking it was fried carrot cake haha.
Lol.. it was all a bit confusing. It turned out to be radish cake and they just called it carrot cake. A few people from the UK also commented about the toad in the hole.. 😆
In Mandarin, actual carrot is called "red carrot" and radish is "white carrot " .
While it's always nice to have Wagyu or Lobster. Sometimes the best tasting food can be some Banana Fritters or simple Potatoes. Also great that you met up with Lawrence again 😊
It is a nice change from the Vegas extravagance. Are you doing any trips outside of vegas?
@@TimLeeLetsGo Will be going to Washington DC in a couple of weeks for American Thanksgiving. Probably won't be getting to the city though because my Brother lives in Maryland outside of it.
Thank you for responding tim safe travels
Ah Tim! If you are still in Singapore give Ji Ji Noodle a try. Their 'Wonton Noodle' is to die for. It located at Hong Lim Food Center. Though remember it close on Thursday,
i always look forward to your videos! 😊
Tim , are u heading up north as well? Malacca, KL, Ipoh, Penang ?
I'm not sure at the moment, but exploring other areas as well
Hi Tim...hope all is well 😊...😮 what did you do to your hair 🤔😂...always hard to choose a dish from a hawker center...too many to choose 😋...enjoy and safe travels, God Bless 😘🤗❤
CHILI CRAB is an absolute must in SINGAPORE everyone I have talked to who has visited says it is PHENOMENAL in every respect!!!🦀🦀🦀🌶🌶🌶
Oh, really enjoyed the Singapore chili crab. My first time trying it and it certainly will not be the last 😋
hey tim! another awesome video as always :) Me and my wife will be travelling to singapore sometime in Feb of next year, it will be our first time visiting singapore, any specific recommendations where we can eat (budget friendly)? Thanks in advance tim!
I'm trying to figure that out myself but thanks to many good friends, it's quite easy to find great places to eat. Many suggested not going to the fancy restaurants, and just stick to the Hawker centers for the same food at great prices
got it tim! thanks! 🙏❤
Gluttons by the Bay tends to be a bit touristy 😅- Looking forward to bringing you to East Coast Lagoon Hawker Center - a very authentic, breezy place with an enormous variety of hawker food!
Thank you so much! Just making my way over to Singapore at the moment and thank you so much for your kindness 🙏
FAB VIDEO ❤😋❤️
Welcome to Singapore Tim!
Thank you so much! Really enjoying Singapore especially with a good guide and friend Lawrence
The second spot is actually People’s Park Complex Food Centre, not Smith Street. Smith Street Food Centre is across the road at, surprise, Smith Street! My favourite at People’s Park is Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu.
Thank you so much! I'm really appreciate the suggestions as well 😀
24:40 better hope Niko wore gloves afterward if you shared chili crab 🤢
Yes, and while our hands were clean, our shirts were not...😉
@@TimLeeLetsGo you didnt mind his nosepick, just extra flavor for you
@@-EchoesIntoEternity- oh gosh... I didn't catch that.... Will have it fixed🤦🏻♂️😆
😮😂😅 Missed by minutes!
Vibrant and lively. When will you explain the Coca cola tshirts? 😉😎🤙🏼🏵️💚. 💕 Uncle Laurence
its always interesting to see what the humidity does to a tourist's hair. its so obvious between a local and a foreigner
I think that would be a very good screener 😆
Welcome
To Singapore Tm!!!

Tim the oriental man that you talked to also knows another food taster by the name of mark wiens. Do you know him?
I like hearing you speak another language
Thank you so much, I know a few languages, none of which I speak well 😉
Tim! You got your hair done xD
It is what it is.. a lost cause 😉
Saw you at Manila Peninsula 2 weeks ago
I would have taken the chicken and rice, and the BBQ goose. Cheers Tim, and God Bless! ✌️🇨🇦
The chicken was really good 👍
Is 500-600$ budget enough for one week traveling in Singapore? Apart from staying expenses.
Oh, $500 to $600 for food is more than ample in singapore. Transportation is relatively inexpensive so you're good to go
@@TimLeeLetsGo Thx bud. My plan is set for 2024. Have a great day. 👍
would love to go to Singapore sommeday😀😋
TIM- IF you can ever get the opportunity to visit JAKARTA, INDONESIA you would NEVER believe how incredibly delicious the food is, just on a HIGHER level than anything else I have ever experienced... NOT expensive, either but incredible!!!💯 Try the NASI PADANG restaurants where they put around 16 dishes on your table and you just pay for what you ate!!
That sounds amazing and I got a chance to visit Indonesia many many years ago for work. Yes, I had Padang , but being fresh out of school at the time, I was a bit stingy and limited myself to one or two dishes. It was an exercise in restraint.
@@TimLeeLetsGo You should try it as a comparison to how you perceived it THEN to NOW, it sure would make an AMAZING video for RUclips- my prediction is that it would be your "MOST VIEWED". You are on the way to 200K my friend!!!🥰👍💯💯
wow u r in Singapore :)))))
Enjoying the heat and humidity in Singapore 😉
thanks to you i am going soon@@TimLeeLetsGo
You should try their sugarcane juice with your choice of preserved fruits (salty sweet) in one of the shopping centers where the sugarcane is squeezed right in front of you. 😉
That would be nice, a little bit more kicked to the sugarcane juice 😋
Hi tim, love your videos. Im just very confused with this one. Why do u keep saying the food u are eating is a rendition of a toad in the hole. Im English and i know what a toad in the hole is. None of that dish was anything like a toad in the hole. Toad in the hole it a giant yorkshire pudding with sausages in it. It has no potatoes in it. Yes u can eat potatoes with it, on the side, but Yorkshire pudding are not made with potatoes. Yorkshire pudding mixture is made with equal parts flour, eggs n milk, of course the sasuages. And that's what's called a toad in the hole. Sausages in a Yorkshire pudding. ( There more of the cooking info but not getting into it). Sorry for the rant. I'm just confused on wat your are talking about while you was eating that dish. Also again when you mention it when ordering the fried carrot cake. Was it suppose to be a joke Tim? X
Canadians call eggs in fried bread toad in the hole, or one-eyed sailors. Americans do as well.
@@boomshanka8743 oh ok. Thx 4 replying to me. We have a completely different dish here in England. Its why I was so confused. Now Im going to google your dish, so I can understand it. Thx again. X
I'm English too and maybe it was just their version/take or what they call it there? 😊
@@boomshanka8743I grew up calling them eggs in windows 😊
Do you work or travel as a jobi am interested to know great kife
My profession is in software development and computing. Really grateful to get to visit many places and share the experiences here on RUclips
@@TimLeeLetsGo oh wow my son just completed high school and is going to study software development at university love to know more about your profession
Peranakan food is out of this world
That was my first time trying it and it certainly will not be the last 😋
Satay should eat with onions n rice n sauce together. 😅
Carrot cake bk is sweet, wt one plain. I prefer wt carrot cake. Natural taste 😅
I think you need an off camera companion to help you eat all that food! I’d gladly volunteer!
I needed all the help I can get! Please join 😁
Great video but I don’t think the hawker ownerwanted you to take her picture at 07:34. Not everyone wants to chat all the time with a camera in their face and the effusive “Thank you so muches”. I hope you “read the room” better next time.
Hi Tim ❤❤
Hi Brian
Tim, when you come to singapore again, do contact me..i'll bring you to popular places specializing in chicken rice or chilli crab etc...where you have been were hawker centers which have a huge variety of food but they may or may not be tasty :)
