Such a good idea!

Made 11 sales after I started following you, and I had been on Amazon KDP for 6 months with no sales!🔥

I've just started getting into the book making industry and YOU have been Such an INSPIRATION for me! Thank You Soooo Much for posting these videos, you've taught me alot thus far! Many Blessings to you Paul! 💕
Thank you! Glad you've enjoyed them and found them useful.
How is this working out, i want to get my daughter to try this
Paul. I want to thank you for the wonderful content. I have been watching your videos for about six months and finally created my own low content book (waiting for it to get approved). I appreciate all the great information you give to your channel. This particular video got me to start creating. Thanks again!!!!
That's great. I'm glad you were able to put the translate the information into action.
I love Creative Fabrica. I use it for everything, not only KDP :) Thanks for another great video, Paul.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Stumbled on your video last week and followed your videos. I have finally published my very own coloring book and even trying my hand with low content journals. I also joined creative fabrica and submitted my first illustrations clipart from your recommendation. Thank you so much for helping me finding a new opportunity for myself. Your videos are super duper informational and helpful. Love, from Malaysia.
That's great. Congratulations!
I started with KDP on 2/22 Thanks to you mainly. My first set of books (journals) were approved and published by 2/28. I then jumped into a niches specific to a hobby of mine, a topic I am an expert on and I have now created books for preschoolers etc. At first I was nervous because I created so much an no sales in the first 2 weeks. Then I thought, well maybe Amazon is still indexing my books / creation. To my surprised, this week 3/8 I started to see a few sales. Great information, thank you! I sincerely appreciate it! I can only image when the months could grow into. Most importantly, I did it the cheap way, no big upfront cost except for my Canva pro subscription, bookbolt and the $1 creative fabrics promo. I am thinking of purchasing affinity designer as well 🙌
Hi Mark, that's great to hear, great work. Thank you for letting me know. It's always great to know when people are starting to get sales.
Great tutorials Paul, I've got 5 books up on Amazon now, thanks to your knowledge and videos😊 I'm now concentrating on the finer details, especially cover creation, so this is really helpful. Thanks again! 👍

Hi Paul. I am a total beginner and would like to start making puzzle books. I have watched loads of videos and like yours the best. I cannot find any tutorials about purely making puzzle book covers. Great Video! I can't remember which video amongst my saved book tutorial list, I had a video where you mention a website that you can pay people for good covers?
The two places to look at are fiverr.com and getcovers.com
With the introduction of Ai artwork. Authors are shifting to getting cheaper covers. And as an artist who makes covers, I'm feeling the effects already
Can you elaborate? I'm pretty curious how
@@akshit6107They don't need this artist to do it for them anymore. This lack if freelance opportunities is going to affect them financially because people will stop commissioning them for book cover art.
Dear Paul, First of all, thank you for your videos. I would like to know if it is ok to use regular pictures taken even by a mobile phone as covers or low-content books?
Hi Paul, when uploading this type of book to Amazon, should you put in the title the phrase that is on the cover?

I have a question or two:
Can all this be done on an iPad Pro? Or doI need to purchase a laptop?
I don’t have a laptop or computer (only my iPhone X and an iPad pro)
I know there are people who do create their books on an ipad pro. I've not tried it but it shuld be possible. Software that people commonly use on an ipad would be Procreate and Canva.
Great video!
Thank you.
Thank you Paul

Paul, awesome, dont you remove the KDP template?
Fantastic!
Thank you.
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your video content and sharing your knowledge with us all, it is extremely helpful. I have a question about product images of published KDP books. I know that KDP can only show the front, back and interior of the book. However, I have seen other independently published authors include a thumbnail of images such as mock up images to further promote their books. Do you know how I would be able to do this? Thanks so much for the help again!
It would involve you setting up an Amazon Sellers Account. Then yuo have to claim your book as yours through Amazon Sellers. Then you can upload additional images as long as they adhere to Amazon's strict guidelines.
@@paulmarles Are there any drawbacks to doing this? I've heard it can be a pain to be approved as an amazon seller.
Also I don't have Keynote or power point. Can I use Canva? Thanks. Jackie
I have a question.
How to bring low content to the front page?
I don't know if you've already talked about it in some of your previous videos.
thank you
Front page? Do you mean inside the front cover? If so, you can't do that on KDP.
Hello! I am super grateful for the content you share! It has been extremely useful to me! Just yesterday Amazon published my first book.
But, I have a question that I hope you can answer, Amazon only shows my cover, it doesn't show my back cover 🤔, why?
I am making the MockUps (thanks to the videos on your channel) for A+ content and I wanted to highlight my back cover but not seeing it I have the doubt if it will be printed or not and I am afraid of showing a MockUp offering a back cover that will not be printed later 😐
It often takes a little longer for the back cover to appear.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
hello Hello, like so many others My journey has started in this industry, and wanted to say thank you. Now i do have an important question, though wasn't too sure where to ask you. I hope this is ok. Now I researched my keywords and decided on a sort of series of like notebooks, log books... think .. Dummy book .... they all have the same titles or close.... do you recommend different Titles with different covers or is it ok to have the same title over and over just keyword-specific with different cover patterns and subtitles. I ask because i am a designer and I have so many assets to create book covers for years.
Your videos have been extremely helpful in learning how to create book covers. However, I am currently trying to increase the width of my stroke for my svg quote, but the width is getting cut off. Do you know how to fix this?
I don't understand what you mean by 'the width is getting cut off' I'm afraid.
Hi Paul,
I've been following your channel for a long time really appreciate your content.
I have one important question related to keyword research.
I use publisher rocket to do my keyword research.
I found a keyword and it has good "Estimated Amazon Monthly Searches & good Competitive Score (with green color numbers)
But when I search the same keyword manually in the amazon search bar, it has over 8000 results.
(It is already more than 1000 search results, which is your recommended search results)
So will it be really profitable for me to create books in that niche?
Shall I trust the publisher rocket result and make that book?
Will I have run ads to get sales?
I hope you can give some advice from your experience.
Thanks a lot.
I am assuming you are searching in the All category and not the Books category? If it's the All category and it's 8000 results you'll find that's too competitive to easily get a good organic ranking. The Estimated Amazon Monthly Searches is the number of people that are searching for the book.
Hi Paul,
Sorry it is off topic to this video, but could you point me to the one that had the rooster you cleaned up in Inkscape, please?
I have quite a lot of videos but I don't recall a rooster. Are you sure it was one of mine?
thank you
You're welcome.
LOVE UR VIDEOS! I apologize in advance if you have already answered this question: how quickly have you made your first sale from when one of your KDP books was published and went live? I have found that it takes a few weeks to get a first sale after it goes live. Also when I've unpublished and made changes and re-published, it seems to take a few weeks to get back into the sales cycle. Is that just me?
It's a very competitive market. If you need quick sales, head to amazon promotion.
@@moodswinging4406 thank you! My question still hasn't gotten answered tho: Has anyone had sales (without paid advertising) immediately after book went live or did it take a few weeks?
@@campfiretrailers2848 yes, you can sell with out advertising. Immediately? Maybe, logically, if you have an existing customer base , you can sell immediately. Without some sort of awareness to your book, immediate sales is a bit more challenging. Just upload it and see how it goes, you can always advertise via RUclips, Instagram, Tiktok and other social media platforms free. Best of luck.
@@moodswinging4406 thank you!
When i published both my front cover and back cover shows in the website. Together, but others' only the front side shows in the website. How can i fix that.
Hi Paul, thank you for the wonderful video. I am having some problems.....do you mean Affinity Publisher or Affinity Designer? Second, how do you cut out the part of the zentangle vector that is not colored in? I did Ctrl +G to group, but I don't know how to get rid of it. I would really appreciate it if you have time to answer my questions. Thanks again!
Affinity Designer. When you say cut out do you mean deleted the black and white zentangle pattern?
@@paulmarles Yes, it appears the book pattern on the side that is black and white goes over the allowed dimensions for the cover. How do you delete it and leave just the side with colors?
Thank you Paul, your cover is gorgeous. Love your video's.🙂
Thank you. Glad you;ve found them useful.
Hi, Samantha Leigh
Are you Need a professional Graphic designer for your personal work?
Hey Paul, can you please, pleaseee make a video about How to Make a Coloring Book Cover 8.5x11in on Canva? I am struggling :D
Good suggestion. I'll put it on my list.
Wow 🤗😳🥳🤯
Hi, I saw that you chose sRGB for book cover colour mode. Did you change it to CMYK later or does amazon accept RGB?? I am a bit confused as in amazon help guide they said images should be in CMYK for book cover.
No, I’ve always kept them as sRGB.
@@paulmarles thanks for clarifying. Helped a lot. Great video 👍
CMYK is required for physical books. You are fine with RGB for digital copies. If you convert your RGB to CMYK you will notice a tremendous colour difference. This is why they advise to prep your books in CMYK.
Thank you, please can't I design this using Canva ?
No, the technique I use requires vector editing software.
Hi, I'm using infinity designer also but when I select the shapes it only alows me to change the color of the line not the interior.
You need to check if the file is eps or vector
I am talking about the file format
If it's a shape created with the rectangle tool you should be able to change the fill color. Are you making sure to selct the fill color icon top right?
Can this also be used to make covers for fiction books? Novels?
For sure.
Yes, definitely.
Please I don't know how to use gravit to edit my svg quote, it's really distressing knowing my free trial would be over on gravit
My advice would be to watch some free Gravit tutorials on RUclips.
Hi Paul, can you explain how to group and ungroup the words using photoshop? I can't seem to figure it out. I am trying to colour individual words from an svg off Creative Fabrica. HELP. !! :-)
You need to use vector editing software such as Affinity Designer, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape to use the method I show in the video.
@@paulmarlesOk thanks so much for your advice Paul. I shall go and check that out now. x
Hi Paul...i uploaded a low content book on amazon on first of July, following all yout steps, but Still haven't had any sales
One book?
Two actually
Hi Paul ! I do the same thing as you but I can't click on the picture to change the color like you. Could you help me ?
Difficult without knowing the exact steps you;ve followed and looking at what exactly your doing. You may not have that layer ungrouped or your not using a vector file and insted your using a .png or .jpg file. It needs to be a vector file - .ai, .svg or .eps.
@@paulmarles I changed PNG images to EPS but there is only black color for me to change in the image
will affinity publisher do this?
No. You can't edit vector images in Affinity Publisher.
Does a cover, designed in colour (for paperback) get printed in colour even though I choose black and white (during upload) for my interior pages? Or are all paperback covers printed in colour by default? Apologies but it's not that obvious to a new user like myself.
Yes it does. Black and white just refers to the interior.
@@paulmarles thanks for the quick reply Paul. Your videos are incredibly helpful.
How do you get your book cover to be the maxium size? my book cover is much smaller compared to the competition. I followed the ideal book cover size for kdp, but it seems like there a hidden secret no one is talking about.
The size of the books is the size that you decide to create. The most common are 6x9 inches and 8.5x11 inches.
I have a question: I have a children's book, but I do not have the files; they got lost. I do however have a few copies left. Is there a way to scan or recreate this product? Do you know of a company that does that?
You would have to scan or photograph them, import them into something like Adobe Illustrator and image trace them to create vector files. I don't know of any companies that do that but you could do a Google search.
@@paulmarles Thanks; I will try that
please how can i get adobe illustrator
You have to sign up with Adobe Creative Suite.
Page turn direction Left to Right? Is that correct?
For English, yes.
Yes. Strange, I know.
@@paulmarles oh ok, thanks Paul.
Merhaba Paul Turkiyeden yaziyorum. Bir cocuk kitabı yazdım. Bir yayıncı bunu basacak ve her yerde satışa çıkacak. Bu kitabı Amazon Kdp ye de yükleyip kazanç saglayabilir miyim?
When I click on the look inside of my book. My inner interior look very small. Can you please tell me, What's the reason behind of it & How do I fix it?
Is there an issue with the pdf you uploaded?
Paul, why is it that when I search for my books incognito on Amazon I cannot find them but yet Amazon shows me tons of books that are unrelated to any of the words in my book title or topic? Is their algorithm really this terrible? How am I supposed to ever sell a book if no one sees them?
You're books may have been shown previoulsy for your search terms but never got any clicks or sales and so Amazon thinks they are irrelevant to that search term or not a product a customer wants.
@@paulmarles Oh no! I searched it only a week after it going live...they only give it a chance for a week? That is brutal. And it was January! No one buys in January. lol
👍
Dear Paul, it seems, that it is impossible to do such a cover in Inkscape!
The technique used in this video is quite basic which can be done in Inkscape. It's just using fill color and changing the thickness of the stroke.
Hi..how do this time.... I make book cover and upload but low sell my book...plz make new video....plz replay..

@@paulmarles a new season make coloring book...make u video plz..
Does this really work? I don't have any followers or customers. Who will buy from me? Amazon is already packed with authors, real authors, and top sellers. Where do I fit in? Thanks!
No it doesn't work. At least not for people blindly following these people. The only ones making money are "kdp coaches", template sellers and authors who posted their books a long time ago and got into first pages.
@UC31vgav3x4OL0aYJqNnm7qg I didn't give up, I am realistic. There are no money/little money in this for new joiners. These people sell you this as a get rich quick scheme. In some ways It's a scam.
