It has a lot of attack power and is fairly quick. Its range is short, but if you're good at moving around... it's a good weapon. Not amazing, but definitely good enough to wreck just about anything without too much effort.
i’ve actually done a combat knife (and whatever the earlier version was) only run as soon as i got it on one of my runs, really good. Don’t remember having trouble at any point
SotN is one of my absolute favorites! I play Symphony all the time on-stream, although honestly I haven't uploaded as many videos here as I probably should. More in future!
Cool, I thought Symphony would be great for this kind of ruleset because it has so many weapons. On a semi-related note, I'm sad the flying/throwing swords aren't in other metroidvanias. They're pretty fun to use.
Back in the early 2000s before speed-running and game challenges were a thing, my friends and I would give challenges to each other to see if it was possible to beat the game with said challenge. I was given the challenge of beating the game using only the Combat Knife as a weapon. I met the challenge, and became a believer in the Combat Knife.
Why are you skipping all the Bat Form upgrades? Also how do you mantain Wing Smash forever? Just finished my first playthrough of this amazing game and i'm still a noob.
Hmm... do you think a rule allowing you to move something to an offhand instead of unequipping would be interesting? Potentially give up your shield to retain a really good weapon, etc etc. It would have to be a no-take-backs system though. You can move it down, but if you do, it has to be moved down/out next time you save something.
I could have sworn that there was a skip to the cutscene for when you meet Death the first time. You just pop in and out of the room and it's a quick skip. It might be in other versions rather than the original PS1 because I've definitely done it for the PSP.
Yeah, that skip is Requiem-version exclusive (PSP & PS4). There's a different skip for the PSX version as well. For randomizers, though, we tend to stick with a Glitchless ruleset!
I played like this last year! Ended up finishing with a poison weapon, which Dracula is immune to, so I could only use items. Thank God I had so many lol. I also did this with Aria last October, and ended up with a pretty good end set. These types of runs are always fun.
What is a Jupiter? An amazing little pile of castlevania content! But enough talk, let's watch him!
Indeed! One of the best speedrunners! I was so excited when he was on GDQ here recently!
have a watch!*
Symphony of the Find edition
Sad to see that you came out of this without encountering Red Rust, the entire time I was hoping to see it pop out of a pot out of nowhere lmao
I never realized just how underrated the Combat Knife was.

It is my go to until I get to the reverse castle.
Jupiter doing a SotN speedrun? Ain't no way, let's go

There is a Heaven's Sword in Portrait of Ruin, IIRC.
Bloodstained has two flying swords
Play Bloodstained. Search the tower area.

Josh Strife Hays is who did the video prasing the combat knife. I wonder if he's aware of the crissaegrim or the fist of tulkas......
That really is an excellent video!

Just an easier version of this

@@JupiterClimb Ah that makes sense. Ty!
Oh that's a new one, I didn't realize the ceiling in the Richter section was just a suggestion.
you can grav jump through it when it's coming down as Alucard too, but it's solid once it becomes stairs
Why his game don't have the mono audio "bug"?

14:20 the corridor of infinity in the Netflix series is also a throwback to this portal
The fact that you started with Shield Rod + Alucard Shield was unlucky.
Me: Today i will be productive
Juniper uploads
Me: Productivity can wait.
I remember, the first time I played SotN, I beat Galamoth with the combat knife lmao
combat knife is surprisingly good, especially since it double hits.
happy valentine ❤
I dunno. In luck mode, I usually main two knives because the DPS output is nuts
1:20:36
I knew this was going to happen, if you try your luck whit an already good weapon this is gonna happen xD
galamoth: ow ow ow ow ow stop ow ow ow hitting ow ow ow ow me ow ow ow ow IN THE OW HEAD! OW OW OW OW OW!
Why didn't you equip the Lapis Lazuli? It isn't money.
The baseilard was one of my favorite wpns
How do you do those really cool bat to mist turn arounds?
i stayed just for that javelin throw LOL
Didn't equip Lapis, but it didn't matter in the end.
That dud was amazing
Imagine picking that familiar over Bat smh
you already know about that javelin so
Jupiter playing SOTN that is a new one. And a welcome one.
