The only part of the hailstorm that confuses me is its concealment. I get that it’s for balance, but this thing is smaller than a lot of smgs and only gets half their concealment.
The minigun can get 12 con but regardless both don't need crits anyways. Personally crits is fun outside of dsod but you're so squishy the extra dps is pointless if you're downing so easily and often.
I loved the old metal storm project that got scrapped back in I think the noughties/early 2010s, and this is *definitely* inspired by that (because the typhoon definitely is, too) I love its aesthetics and this might be a weapon pack I get for once.
Your comment about the campaign taking place in the rural south isn’t entirely accurate (at least for the next map). The next map is going to be taking place in Fort Worth, specifically a rail yard right next to the very urban downtown area. Also, there are a bunch of defense contractors in the area, so an experimental weapon like the hailstorm showing up in Texas is more likely than you think.
I feel like it would work pretty good in a grinder crit build, seeing the high firerate and that grinder can utilize the ammo skills for throweables using molotovs.

I'd love a new AK/CAR Weapon/Mod Pack, with lots of mods and maybe a weapon or two (I'd love any way to get me an AR-57 in PAYDAY 2), plus make many mods work on other similar guns, like the Gecko, AK-15, Bootleg, Little Friend, Ketchnov, and many more weapons that could take many existing mods but for some god-forsaken reason they don't, it'd be amazing, both in the New DLC department and the "Free" content department.
The Compact 5 is honestly amazing. Mainly in utility like the Gruber Kurz/Bernetti to fit weapons. It's pretty understandable that they won't do as well as other better weapons, but it is great that it has a niche.
The Hailstorm became part of my Playstyle, ran together with Basilisk Launcher (With Viper grenades of course) and Maniac. Its not a price winning Loadout, but its fun on Overkill (didnt try mayhem yet)
I know that you have your 'Mods in 2022' video already planned, but I would love to see more custom things like the Predator Mod you covered last year. Things I always wondered are: -how do mods work online when playing with people who don't have the same mod? -do custom perk decks/characters replace existing ones?
1. afaik most stats are shared for the other players, so Custom Weapons works almost flawlessly, the only things that don't work online are Concealment and (I Think) Threat, otherwise everything else works, as for the models, sounds, etc, those don't, the other players just see your weapon as something else from the vanilla game chosen by the Mod Creator (most of the time they choose the AM-CAR) so that the game doesn't crash for the other players. 2. While I can't talk about Custom Perk Decks (I've never used them lol) I can talk about custom characters, and the answer for that is Yes and No, depends on when the mod was done, all pre-2019 mods for Characters did replace Vanilla ones (for example the L4D2 Nick Character Pack replaces Scarface with L4D2's Nick), then a bit later they found a way to add new characters, though it was clunky so it was then "Replaced" by Legendary Armor Skin which is a mod that added new armor skins that worked like the vanilla game's armor skins so it didn't replace heisters, though later when Outfits were introduced they just changed to use the Outfit system as it's just easier to use (it still kept the name though so there's that), so in the end, no because it doesn't replace characters, but yes because older mods did replace characters. If anyone reading this knows better than me, please correct me.
I haven't bought the weapon pack yet but I would assume that the railgun mode thing would be great at holding long chokepoints. Sure, it's not ammo efficient but considering the fact that it shreds everything in it's path, you know...

There is kind of no definitive answer. Everyone likes playing the game differently and a lot of perks/weapons/skill set ups have their own advantages and disadvantages. Like LMGs are very easy to use, they can kill decently fast, Doesn't need a damage up and can sustain themselves really well, but they are outclassed by faster killing weapons like Akimbo SMGs and Assault Rifles which can really help against Bulldozers. But the Akimbo SMGs and Assault Rifles require you to set up as in getting things like Low blow aced/Berserker aced on top of some other skills to use them well. But at the same time they kill ridiculously fast. I'd say if you need some ideas, you can always try Stoic with an LMG, ICTV and Hostage Taker aced Jokers. Stoic forces you to take damage and get into cover to heal it off. This is really good as it forces you to play the game well. That and the Hip flask can be used as safety net for when you take too much damage or for rushing something. And LMGs are one of the easiest weapons to use as you don't really need much outside of Body Expertise and Surefire aced. You can just spray at the swats and easy regain ammo by picking them up. You can also try this set up with other perks. Like maybe you aren't a fan of Stoic. There's always Armourer and Muscle which are pretty simple to use. Armourer is really tanky and the Invincibility can be used to incredibly well, while Muscle is really nice for supporting and tanking with your health. But yeah those are my recommendations.
I think what drives it over the top is the secondary fire, it's cool but i think it nudges the weapon into OP territory. I personally think it should have bit more aggressive damage fall off and bit less damage or some minor tweaks in accuracy/stability/conc. It's just way too high DPS, but the problem is that if you balance it for zerk+crit you ruin it for non zerk/crit probably. Adding the secondary fire to an already powerful weapon just means there is almost nothing that you cant deal with easily. You can one shot at least two dozers on DS if you line em up with the secondary fire with crits and zerk at least. It's basically a superior minigun with 5/7 duct taped to it. Also i disagree, it does self-sustain, at least with zerk+crit. You just have to be more mindful of it, not too great but good enough. Though that doesnt even matter much because you can ditch 5/7 and take something like micro uzi because you dont need to think about shields. But i love it doe, i really like the concept, i like the way it is but i honestly think it's just tiny bit too powerful. Though it is overshadowed by the sheer power of the tombstone slugs right now.
Ehh it would be OP in a world where akimbo SMGs don't exist. If you think about it, most of them already have better DPS, better ammo efficiency, speed pull mags, much better concealment, and not much worse accuracy/stability. You basically trade all those advantages for the sheld pierce.
@@ylyxa fair point but most if none of the akimbo smgs can reach the same stats, often they lack either acc/stab/ammo pool/pickup/conc plus dont have the alt fire. It's not too op just slightly.
@@Remon_ I wouldn't call it op to any extent especially since the secondary mode/volley mode basically makes the ammo economy that was already bad even worse. It's almost like when the mingus first got an ammo pickup.
@@fiyahquacker2835 i dont think its that bad, especially since you dont need to take 5/7 as secondary. Also 30 ammo to one shot a dozer, potentially two (rarely they line up), is quite efficient i'd say. For shields its a bit of a waste doe. But the ammo pickup is high enough and the ammo pool is high enough that it wont matter most of the time. Especially if you run muzi as backup eith crit zerk.
@@Remon_ Hailstorm's ammo efficiency is atrocious at ~300 base dmg per box. AFAIK it's literally the least ammo efficient gun in the game if you don't count flamethrowers and stuff like that. As for the DPS, Hailstorm is worse than every akimbo SMG except the blaster and compact-5 without the straight mag. Plus, SMGs have a 20% damage buff at close range and less aggressive damage falloff. With ammo reserves Hailstorm, again, only really wins against the lowest-damage SMGs like the blaster, because all others can dish out about the same damage per ammo pool. Talking about concealment here is funny af. The best Hailstorm can reach is 11, needing a 31 concealment secondary *and* inner pockets to reach 23 DR. When the vast majority of akimbos sit in the low to high 20s and can easily get you to 4 DR. I was able to build a pair of 100/96 akimbo CR805s with almost double the DPS, almost double the ammo efficiency, and 16 concealment to boot. Better than hailstorm in every possible way, minus the alt fire.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Payday 2 is now the testing ground for Payday 3. They're just shitting out random weapons and other gameplay mechanics to see what sticks, which will then be used as lessons learned for Payday 3. This may help them make a better game, but the other result is, unfortunately, that Payday 2 will probably be left in this wacky, over the top state, straying even further from the original game we all knew and loved in years before. Congrats guys. We are all unpaid beta testers.
Heilstorm is useless weapon. Yeah, it's very good dps, but ammo pickup and concealment are very low. You need to do maximum damage boosts (zerk&crits) if you want to have good dmg and ammo economy. It means that we are limited to a small number of perk decks (
You basically answered your own question, the gun is fun. But just because you need ammo bags, doesn't make it useless. It can kill really fast with one of either Low blow/Berserk and has quite a bit of ammo to go through. Crits and Zerk is really good, but it isn't everything. You can make it work as a primary with ammo bags and Secondary smgs still exist. You could even make it a secondary for Bulldozers since it can kill really fast. It isn't meta, but it is far from garbage.
Payday 2 to me is officially losing its identity, more and more futuristic weapons with too many functions to count all in one all of these which have no place in Payday to begin with but hey the game is at its endlife anyway since soon PD3 will come out so i guess the devs wanna suck the plzayers dry of money ASAP before that happens,is kinda sad tho that this also suffers from what most other games in the past did, devs usually do this even GTA Online did it,at first it was all normal vehicles and all now its alien spaceships and flying bikes and shit. Well same happens to PD2 now and again its sad that such a great game is shamed like this by its own creators being sent to its own grave in this way instead of in a big explosion of glory.

It's in the options as some kind of accessibility feature (might help motion sickness to have a dot i guess)

Pls🥺
The engine used for Payday 2 would require Overkill to completely re-write the code for every update so for new Payday content consoles are gonna have to wait for Payday 3

wha is the best loadout? for loud i prefer playing loud s i need a good loadout
Felt really underpowered on DW for me yesterday, I dunno about this take man.
If you don't run crits/zerk I could imagine so
Body expertise + zerk or crits. Personally zerk and frenzy aced with anarchist or ictv+ unseen strick aced with stoic or armorer.
@@tylerstronk based for the ictv stoic call
이총좋아요? hey this gun good?
Hey Overkill ,when are we getting a cop painter? Cop skins plz....I wanna change responders colors to new colors.....
Why don't you know how to read "mark 5"?
this is NOT an lmg tf is that crazy fire rate
not sayin anythin bad
Kinda sounds like you're a black hole of purity sucking all the joy. If you don't like how things are going fine be a damn sucky purist like the other probably only 1%.
Just play Payday 37.1, it has no stupid heists and this version is optimised as well. Weights less than current PAYDAY somewhere around 20gb.
Wait for nerf.

I wouldn't say so. If the ammo economy was similar to the mini/micro gun then absolutely it'd be op considering it has the damage and fire rate of the micro with just 1 concealment potential less than the mini.
@@fiyahquacker2835 dps between them is irrelevant if you're sacrificing survivability for more dps to kill bulldozers faster you'll find you're self dying more despite do crazy amounts of dps. From playing with minigun 30 crit ik how easy it to dye. Even with 18 crit it's still rough. I found that having frenzy aced and underdog aced for anarchist to be happy medium with dps and survivability. That or just running stoic, armorer or muscle, ictv and first aid kits for some of the most tank.
@@tylerstronk anarchist frenzy is exactly how I do things with weapons like the hailstorm.
