This kinda stuff gets me excited. I'm happy to see characters become more viable more diverse. We are starting to stray farther away from the universal BnB combos of v1.00 cast. I can finally add Beerus to my scrubby team and have all 3 of my favorite characters without fear of being unable to do much on my turn.
So this isn't a full re-do of the old combo vid but theres stuff in there that doesn't really hold up as much now, but theres a few things there that are still worth looking at I guess, even if its hyper edge-case. I don't know if I would re-do the tips guide because everything basically stands true to this day, minus the changes that are in the patch.
I like how most ideas for making Beerus better were changing the properties of his projectiles. Yet here we are, same old projectiles but much stronger Beerus
Luke Marsh Yeah nerf him and get rid of his already HUGE amount competitive players like the whole 2, If you see a character a lot then you should be able to be winning a lot more because you get to learn the match up
Rooflemonger! Great video as usual, love the new stuff ALOT! If it's alright, I'd like to illustrate how Beerus is moving off the right hand side of your tier chart (Like Gotenks) and pretty much moving upwards past the mid today. I'm a huge day 1 Beerus fan, in the Z-Union, just thought I'd share my hypothesis. So we know Beerus got some very great upgrades, and none more so than the QCB's (Whether it's S, or L/M/H, or L+M), some more so than others. But what I don't see talked about alot is the QCF+S, which got a significant buff in that the time of start-up and recovery has now been reduced. Pre-patch, this move could follow up 2H or 5H to a limited extent, but to limited or no avail. Hell, the user could even reflect a super dash afterwards. But this alone was not enough to make it strong enough to even consider. Now, with the changes to the assist usage on OKI for your opponent (Can't do it right away), PLUS the fact that QCF+S is HELLA faster, you can now do it safely in a number of situations, to which I only ask you demonstrate personally as I have seen your training video's and I just can't get training mode to work as easily as you can (Sorry, you don't have to but you are better at it...Plus it's hard to upload video to YT from my Xbox One). It relies on the ability of the Beerus user to reflect, because as you know that is the only way to keep the orbs alive, or just dodge the attack to keep them alive. Beerus users using these tactics will do well to retrain your muscle memory to utilize reflect more often.Because the opponent has ZERO choice but to R-E-S-P-E-C-T the orbs now (Assuming they're being used right). Reflect usage is limited to the reaction time of the Beerus user ONLY, dumb people will get smacked :( Enemy can LVL1/LVL3 out of the setup, but Beerus will simply block, and the orbs are back as soon as they're snuffed out. Here are the new safe options for it's use:1) 5H - From any 5H, whether corner or neutral, Beerus can safely execute QCF+S more than pre-patch Beerus could ever hope to. Neutral will land opponent at the other end of the screen, corner will put Beerus mid-screen in the corner. Its weakness WAS the summoning of assists on wake-up, but since that is no longer possible, the enemy will either be stupid and desire to Super Dash the orbs (Right into your trap), or delay to cal his/her assist. Either way they are screwed post-patch (For the simple fact they took too long to choose). Enemy who doesn't respect your reflects will be gently plopped in perfect range of the QCB+L/M/H's with assist, or your can use a "Faux Target Combo" and execute 2H into 5H under cover of assist (Positioning perfectly). In the corner, you assist and manipulate orbs accordingly (I like 5H after the assist, personally). In the neutral, however, the enemy can limit your options by stretching the screen and remaining far away. This only gives you 5H with the orbs until he/she moves closer, since you can't take the orbs with you if you progress forwards. But, of course, mix 'em up and send them to the orbs yourself! If enemy calls his/her assist, and rushes in without use of Super Dash, predict this action and super jump under cover of your own assist. Orbs will survive, you survive, enemy probably dies horribly. Hard to say what will happen in this scenario. Perhaps Beerus simply rages out with QCB+S? Who is to say lol :D2) 2H - This is generally the more tricky of the two H's, and much more useful (And risky) in the corner. Let's start in the corner, because in neutral you can move around easier if you ever have to abandon the orbs temporarily to get in. So after 2H the Beerus user cancels into QCF+S, sending enemy upwards and keeping Beerus down below. If the enemy tries something stupid like a solo Super Dash, you've already spent hours grinding out the reflect option, so you're ready for the reflect (Plinko is FUN :D). But then they call the assist after cooling off enough!:(But, as mentioned, you're already ready trained for this. So they get it once, big deal. They weren't ready for your assist counter you had brewing up with Kid Buu or something, whatever it may be. Then you smash their head off the ground while they Plinko on your orbs! Sometimes people have an aerial 2M or 2H, to get back down faster. You're already prepared for it! You have T-I-M-E, my fellow Beerus user, you're good!HOORAY!In the neutral, like I said, you can backdash or dash forward to abandon the orbs, you can reflect option the dummy, you can rage with QCB+S, you have time to basically quickly scratch your ass amid all this (K, maybe not the last one lol). DO IT!3) QCF+H - THE absolute trickiest of all the new valid openers, neutral only. Because it's not really full knockdown, try doing this one closer to the ground. On recovery, enemy can Super Dash fairly quickly, but you do have time to vanish (Actually never tried reflect here, it's that quick, but you might be able to). Unfortunately, it's so tight you pretty much have to vanish.BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!There is a nice new change to Super Dash which helps Beerus alot here, which pretty much screws the opponent if they select to do so. In the time after QCF+H, enemy will see he/she recovers fast, so he/she will try his/her best to get in before Beerus can do anything. It's a LIE! Beerus will vanish JUST before enemy enters the ring of orbs, effectively TRAPPING the opponent in the ring of orbs! HOORAY! Plinko is so much FUN now!---So, the caveats:A) Assist calls might countermand the reflect option, to a limited degree (The time it takes to get one after OKI is too much time post patch)B) Supers will force the orbs to disappear (Again, it takes too long for it to matter, block, 5H, repeat).C) Knowledge of the previously unknown will force the enemy to respect your reflect option, but may cause more problems than it solves (Reflect bait, etc.).Soooooo...Get into hyperbolic and grind out that reflect! Peace, hope it helps!#wheredacakeat#deredacakeat
As a fellow beerus Player a very interesting tip that can help many and its very simple. You basically dont play him. I hope this tip helped. Many of my friends tried it and they have improved immensely.
Beerus is looking fun with this new buff! His dive bombs now work mid-screen, can get sliding knockdowns across any combo into orb set-ups. Also his qcf+S being slightly faster is nice for that sparking combo from the vid. Also since his reversal actually works now, I wonder how well a sparking combo off that move will work.
On a side note, it could be foreshadowing into the future meta, with the high likelihood of Goku with Ultra Instinct and Jiren arriving on the battlefield. Base Zamasu could very well show up. I think Beerus is not so much the problem as he is the solution to the coming problem of Ultra Instinct. Would be cool to see Beerus get a UI install to lead into canon later, total hype imo.

Hey rooflemonger, did you by any chance make a beerus video on the Spheres of destruction combo. It looks pretty sick and i wanted to see if you could go in depth with it

How do you super cancel
just do any attack and then go right into your super move. You are canceling the animation of the previous attack into the super, therefore a super cancel
