  • This is a tribute video for the Demon Rollercoaster that opened in 1992 at Australia's Wonderland, Sydney. The park has since closed.
The video includes the "To Hell and Back" commercial and also some very cool on-board images.
Thanks to Brendan Kai and Wonderbuzz for making this video and uploading it to www.wonderlandhistory.net/ for all to see.

    They're right - I'll always remember!
Watching that brought back all my memories of riding The Demon again and again when I was younger. I can't believe they let The Demon be sold off to a Malaysian theme park! If only Dreamworld had bought it like they bought The Big Dipper from Luna Park... even if they changed the name, we'd still have the ride in Australia! I miss Wonderland so much, but The Demon was by far my favorite ride :o)
    Thanks for posting!

I remember the tree at the start of the queue before you go in - everyone stuck their chewing gum all over it! You must have amnesia you tool!
Awesome tribute by the way to the creator of this - brought back memories. Nice one!

I miss wonderland too. The only thing we have left is these videos, photos and our memories. Such a shame it went. A new road on the industrial estate on the site is called Wonderland Drive. Thats the only thing left in the area to know it was even there.

This ride is all over the world. Many theme parks have it and they're exactly the same as Demon, just called something different. I was too young to go on this ride when I went to Wonderland but luckily (or unluckily) a few years ago I was able to ride 'Boomerang' at Knott's Berry Farm in California.

I loved Wonderland. I'm sad it's gone. One time, my friends and I were on the last Demon ride of the day, we click-clacked up to the initial drop point, and the ride got stuck. After a couple of minutes someone on a loudspeaker said there had been a malfunction. We joked around for a bit, but after 10 or so minutes we started getting worried. Then, with no warning, we dropped. I swear you could have heard me screaming in Katoomba! It was awesome! Too bad it was turned into a 'business park'.

It never actually arrived to Melbourne.... They couldn't get the council approval to install the ride because of two reasons, their safety record was pretty shocking at the time(the fire in the River Caves, the infamous Scenic Railway derailment, etc), and the council believed the ride would be too loud and tall. Not to mention it's pretty difficult to construct a proper thrill ride at the park due to how disruptive it would be to get the parts from the Maintenance gate to the front section.

It has since been repainted from the green and yellow. Its now blue and purple with large metalic flakes in the paint so it shines in the sun. Plus with the newer trains it goes faster and does more G's. But Zoomerang is not stupid the rides real name is Boomerang not to much of stretch.

This isn't from Wonderland. Wonderland's rollercoasters were made of wood and didn't go upside-down at all.
