These are almost identical to the 1080s that are $40 less! It's a no brainer to go with the 1080s instead. I literally don't understand the point of this shoe
Looks like a solid yellow, possibly a green for NB diehards with a brick foot. The price absolutely factors in to the green-yellow-red, and I do appreciate Meg and Robbe mentioning that here. To spend $200 for a shoe with such a vague identity seems nutty to me. There are plenty of shoes in the 160-165 range that are likely superior to this one (Robbe loved the Topo Specter 2), and probably even some in the 145 range are just as good for recovery runs (Clifton 9?). Anyway, keep it up y'all. (And please don't be afraid to give yellows!)
I've been running in the Balos for two weeks now. Great show, lots of bounce and and awesome rocker shape! Only issue that I have: I cannot run slow in this shoe :)
This shoe is becoming my favorite running shoe, maybe of all time. It has the perfect combination of softness and energy return, not too much of either but a great amount of both. I’ve been running everyday in these. One thing that’s interesting about this shoe- it’s very quiet due to the outsole
I've done 2 runs in the Balos and it is a great shoe. Like it much better than the 1080v13. Has the bounce of the invincible without the weight. I find it does firm up nicely once you pick up the pace. Rebel is also good at that but not as comfortable at slower paces.
@@arov235the 1080v13 is much too soft and squishy for me. The balos has a nice bounce while still staying soft. It might be because of the rocker geometry.
As a novice runner, New Balance's shoe lineup is confusing. They're my go-to because they make everything in wide, but I'm struggling to understand their lineup at this point. I have the 1080v13 and the Rebel v4 which I love, but they seem to have some serious overlap across their models. Seems like they could discontinue a couple of shoes and not much would be lost for consumers.
That’s actually a good thing in my opinion, more options. That and having the worst discount offerings is probably why they always have a full size run in everything.
Fuelcell line is for serious training, everyday run (short and long distance) and race scenario, and Freshfoam line is for casual running / recovery run. You may define the two line with different TAs so Balos is odd, they have max cushion for casual running but NB claims they are the super trainer
Took a few runs to compress that insole. It’s pillowy and sloppy. Once that happened, felt a nice soft acceptable level of stability. Excellent long run or recovery shoe….still love the rebel v4 for the quicker runs. Great one two punch…
It’s their 10th anniversary shoe, so more of a celebratory creation than a shoe that fits into the lineup. Looking like it won’t have another model under the balos name, but might come back as the next 1080.
Easy recovery soft shoes are now more expensive than non plated speed shoes and some of the best daily trainers. That’s why I bought two pairs of Triumph 20’s on sale before they are gone.
@@filipel1 eles começaram com 1.400, dps baixaram. Acho que caíram na real que esse preço era completamente fora de aceitação considerando a concorrência
Two-Hundred dollars for the Balos Beach is too much and would rather go with a super shoe for that price range. I just bought the 1080v13 last month and that shoe is definitely fun to run in and with a better price point.
Whaaaaa...I love these shoes! These, the Rebel line, and Pacer line are my favorites in the New Balance lineup. Seems like this channel really likes high stack, plated shoes which isn't really my preference. I want a little ground feel, control, and stability in my shoes. I don't like the price of these shoes, but I'll be keeping them in my rotation.
It's a really nice and comfortable ride in a lightweight package, so it's great if you're looking for that, especially if you like softer shoes. It's a solid running shoe in that category. But if you take into account the price and that it's not as versatile as some other competitors, I'd drop it to a yellow.
Waiting on NB to make a non-plated fuelcell based max cushion trainer at or around 40mm stack height. Maybe even a hybrid foam non-plated trainer, fuelcell + FreshFoamX
Question; What are the best options for a comfortable, everyday shoe that provides strong foot support/stability and promotes overall foot health? I'm not a runner, so I'm specifically looking for something that's ideal for daily walking, standing and general use. I've heard good things about the Saucony Hurricane 24 and new balance 860 v14. I'd be happy to hear from you if you have any other recommendations. Thank you!
Another NB shoe I really want to try but again the pricing is way off in the EU at 220€. Genuinely don' t understand what they are doing as the Rebel 4 is only 160€.
I love how bouncy and soft the shoe is but the shoe is too tight for voluminous feet. I even have the wide version and the width is really wide but it's just wayyy too tight on top of my foot and toes. I love the shoe but i gotta return it. Anyone else have this problem?
Yeah I wear really thin socks. The fuel cell shoes don't have this problem. Either does the more V series. The 1080 v13 is tight also. Maybe my foot is just fat vertically? Haha
I’ve got the latest version of the NB 880 and 1080…. I’m happy with them and don’t see the need to drop $200 on a shoe that might be a smidge better but overall won’t make or break my runs. I’ll pass.
@@itsahardmuttlife9263 Availability and lack of wide widths. I have not found a store in the Los Angeles area that stocks the shoe for any length of time. If I cannot try the shoe, I’m not going to buy it.
Conclusion: 0 reason to pick this one over Superblast 2 at the same price range. In EU both are 220€. A midsole blend with super high percentage of EVA should not be at the same price as a 100% PEBA one IMHO
If asics doesn't hurry up and get the Superblast 2 back in stock AND if New Balnce can produce this shoe in a better looking colorway then rust brown and white, I might end up getting this instead of the SUperblast 2😑

@@GregoryFlapCole of course it’s not exactly the same. Balos just has 6 mm more of the same exact foam and has a thicker upper. The Rebel has actual rubber on the outsole. All these minor changes don’t equal $60

Tried it at my local NB store. Not even the store employee was that impressed with it. Definitely not worth the $200 price tag. I could not see myself picking this shoe up, over the 1080.
