I've seen built to spill live two times. I first heard them in 1998 and been a fan since. Saw them live in 2012 and again after that. But last year I ran into doug at a gas station in california on a lunch break, recognized him immediately and said hi. He is just as nice and kind as you imagine. Got a picture and said hi To the band. But I asked him for a hug and I thanked him cause his music got me thru so many years of my life. He was welcome to me fan boying him and hugging him out of nowhere. He is just as nice and kind as you could imagine. Great band. Great guy. I still listen to built to spill after all these years
I've seen BTS a few times, the most memorable show was a small show at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. During the last song Doug broke a string and Netson started laughing/smirking at Doug. Doug grabs the mic off the stand, and disappears back stage while continuing to sign. Doug reappears with a Telecaster and rips a solo to end the song. Doug then reached for the mic stand to say goodnight and realized he left the mic backstage. I found it a funny situation, and thought Doug surely remembers that show, but based on this interview, probably not.
Holy shit I had a similar experience at a Ft. Lauderdale show in FL, he broke a string on his strat, tech brought him a new string and dug restrung it in time so he could play the last couple of chords of the song... was still singing and didn’t miss a beat. the crowd went fucking bonkers. Dug is a real legend
Doug do you remember the Irving Plaza show when you played "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" and that obnoxious guy yelled out, "You don't play one Clash song...you play TWO Clash songs!"? That wasn't me.
Doug do you remember that Showbox show when you were wearing a Kurt Vonnegut t-shirt and folks in the audience were asking you who that is on your t-shirt?
Hey Stuart! I don’t think Doug will see these comments, but he really emphasized to me that he remembers basically no specific memories from shows. Weirdly enough, I made that Vonnegut shirt for him years ago, and a friend of mine was at the Showbox show and sent me pictures! Small world.
Thank you for those videos!. As a long time BTS fan, those interviews are a real joy Btw, what is the song in the beginning of the video? Don’t recognize it...

Loving these videos, I’ve rarely seen Doug talk so openly.

You do. Doug is such a treat to see play guitar live if you love those albums. They’re about to go on tour this summer.
Thx Baugh! Grew up with Dug and Brettson...always ben a solid guy!
As someone that drunkenly embarrassed myself in front of Doug after a show, I'm so glad he doesn't remember every show well.
Thanks for these :D Great content
