It’s interesting how so often people talk about the feeling of horror they get from AI/digital art. I think it’s because of how thin the layer is that tricks us into seeing something as tangible, of the real, of nature. If you zero out the opacity on on the skin of the 3D model, the data is still there, but it’s only when we sense things with our eyes and ears do we think of something as natural and real. The fact that we can be so easily duped, lulled into feeling that we are in comfortable, human spaces when god knows what frightening things surround us and pass straight through us simply because the slider for ‘physical presence’ has been turned all the way down
How to get maximum enjoyment from this.... Step 1 - Open vid but pause it 1 second in Step 2 - Turn off all the lights in the room Step 3 - Put head phones in/on Step 4 - Ingest a decent amount of Ketamine Step 5 - When the ket starts to take effect press play Step 6 - Watch video and crawl inside your own mind Step 7 - Throw up Step 8 - Question everything Disclaimer - Not recommended to be done on more than a fortnightly basis.
Paul O'Brien Sit down after extinguishing the lights and entering orificially any head phones, but BeFore ingesting the ketamine. First timers use nappy to contain head phones from any de-orification.
The song is, of course, difficult and I believe that's the intention. I feel both chilled and warmed by the clipped, organic vocal samples and the clipped, harsh mechanical sounds. The video, also, is visually interesting and well directed.
I heard about Holly's music on NPR and I was not disappointed!! I really love this. I dont know why but it helps me concentrate on work. If I remember correctly Holly did some of this music to see the effect of certain mixes on the brain. Whatever she did is working wonders for my ADHD!
OH OH OH OH

If Holly Herndon collabed with Oneohtrix Point Never that would be amazing
hey
i seen her live the other day and there was an amazing song. it sounded egyptian for some reason, do you know what song im talking about?
Was thinking the same thing.
hey i could maybe help if you can give me the reason it sounded egyptian
i think the result to this would be just a hellish white noise
or maybe it would result some kind of a breakdown of the fabric of reality and all
I want to roll up all those things with a Katamari ball.
Man I almost forgot how incredible Holly is. I have never experienced anything that looks or sounds even slightly like this.
saw them as the support for Radiohead in Amsterdam...they were amazing live and the sound was unbelievable!!!
Just saw them supporting Radiohead again in Lyon, France. That was rad as fuck, loved it.
Finding out about this just made February for me. Movement was like my third favorite album of 2012.

SO much time for this, looking forward to seeing her at Field Day London. Praying the soundsystem will complement her sound
One day she and Oneohtrix Point Never will collaborate and it will be glorious.
If you guys like her, I believe she's opening for St. Vincent on the tour for her new album right now.
I think that's Noveller actually.
