    I appreciate that you make these videos your quite good and make beautiful pieces. Although it would be nice to have a beginner video that is actually suitable for beginners. Or a suggestion would be remove ‘beginner’ from the title.
    Happy crocheting.

    Hi Mikey!!! I’m a beginner, and I need some help, I’m making a lap blanket that is all double crochet. My question is: I want to put a different colored boarder on it, do I go back to a single crochet at the end, before putting on the boarder? And how do I add the boarder?

    Hi! If you use two strands of yarn as you mentioned, do you use a different size hook? In addition, regarding hooks, if you don't have the reccomended hook size for the yarn, is it better to go a size up or size down? I find myslef without a 5mm, but I have a 4.5 & 5.5

    Are there any books or videos for beginners (SERIOUSLY Beginners). I am a visual learner, and I need to see a video that shows the steps at a slow pace. My daughter found out she is pregnant and my new grandchild will arrive in September 2018
    I would love to make a blanket that will take him or her into toddler age. Is there anything you can suggest?
    Thank you so much in advance for any help you can send me.

      Hello,
      First of all: congratulations on your grandchild. I'm a crochet beginner myself, and I've found that there's all kinds of videos here and it's like a big rabbit hole. My recommendation so you don't feel so overwhelmed it's to watch a few videos from certain channels and then stick with the method of one you found comfortable and then watch all their introductory videos. Once you have master one "style" it's easier to hop from channel to channel and find new projects.
      I know my reply it's a little late, so maybe you're an expert now. :)

    Can a bulky yarn be used, 5 or 6, versus, doubling up on the yarn?

    • @laraleepn
      @laraleepn 5 лет назад +1

      you can use any yarn you like, you just have to do a bit of homework to determine the hook and blanket size. Make a sample or two to see what the gauge will be with different hook sizes. Unless there is a requirement for a specific size, blankets are very forgiving and limited mostly by the amount of yarn you want to use.

    • @sally-annebrown1298
      @sally-annebrown1298 5 лет назад

      Hi there. I do use a four mm hook, and I adjust the stitches as needed. My favourite number for long blankets is about 450 chains, and they cover a queen bed pretty well.
      The patterns are just a guideline.

  • @mjnorris5271
    @mjnorris5271 6 лет назад

    This was a terrible pattern for a beginner, especially the border, and he goes so fast. I wont use any of his patterns again. This would frustrate a new person trying to learn to crochet and make them give up. He should not have used a pattern with a hit or miss border.

    • @misselder1
      @misselder1 5 лет назад

      Mj Norris - It should probably be called “easy” (bcs you only have to know how to chain and do dbl crochets) instead of “beginner.”
