  • This 2015 GMC Sierra Denali HD 2500 4WD Crew Cab has a 6.6 liter Duramax diesel with Allison transmission. I drive it from Austin to El Paso, TX (586 miles) on one tank of for real-world MPG HWY stats and highlight the truck's features and details during the road trip (without towing).
    This powertrain could possibly by identical to the new Oshkosh JLTV, which is set to replace the Hummer, as noted at truckyeah.jalop...

    Brian that was extremely helpful. With all that said, I won't be towing anything except maybe my father's skid loader once in a blue moon. I pick mine up in less then 2 weeks. I'm getting it because I want a pickup and most of all, the cream of the crop. This is by far the cream of the crop. I drive a 2013 Escalade Premium right now in which my pheonce will be taking over so I wanted a truck that will give me somewhat of all the options my Caddy has. Love the detailed fuel information especially being I want be towing anything. Gives me an idea of what I'll be dealing with. Thanks for all you did with this truck...

    I would imagine that resale value will be much better for this truck than the other automobiles you mentioned. Especially because I come from a farm state that does not have BMW, Audi, MB dealers on every corner. Pickups in my area always hold their value better than diesel cars or SUV's. Overall very good video. Thanks for posting.

    I work out of F150 with ventilated seats. Best invention ever. Cools you like no amount of blown air in your face will. Avoids sweaty back.

    Beautiful truck! Hopefully they depreciate like the older ones, looking to pick up a used one with 100,000 miles for around 30 grand. I have a feeling these new trucks will hold their value better then the old ones, you can't really make interior much nicer then this and that's probably the only reason someone would want to upgrade.

    If you watch to the end, you'll find that I forgot to mention Mercedes models, but that's okay since their ML class is now the GLE and the GLK is now the GLC (and MB isn't selling the GLC diesel from the US). Also, you can still get the E-class diesel.

    @Diesel Review window switches on drivers' panel works like that in all cars, or at least suppose to work in this way. It's safety feature to not hurt your passengers. Try it and most probably you will see that passenger's window switches works fully auto only on their windows. ;)
    Pretty nice review, by the way! :)

    I know this is a older video... but I just got to the point where you are talking about the volume knob and shifter... I used to have a 2001 GMC Sonoma in my younger days and I did that a few times... all it does is shift it to neutral... just kinda throws you when you hit a bump and all of a sudden start decelerating for some reason.

    thanks for the info, still gonna get this truck, would be way easier to haul equipment from house to house, running a cabinet business would be a breeze in this rather than an 01' Buick

      Thanks for watching! Road trip videos will come back in the spring and summer. Manufacturers go through model year changes during fall and winter, so it's not feasible for me to drive last year's models. I have two interesting cars coming up, and they are both in my driveway this week. Stay tuned!

  • @jeremy7923
    @jeremy7923 8 лет назад +1

    Decent review right up until the end. Yes there are many great vehicles that can be had for 60k... people buy a Denali HD because they want luxury AND have to tow/haul. Your argument is like saying yes, this lawnmower is good, but if you don't need to mow, there are many cheaper/better options to drive around your yard in. Lol.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 лет назад +2

      +Jeremy K. You'd be surprised how many people overestimate their need for a truck.

    • @jeremyjay46
      @jeremyjay46 8 лет назад +1

      That doesn't negate my statement. You have to compare apples to apples. You aren't going to find a vehicle that is small, tows 20,000 pounds, and rides like a German luxury sedan... regardless of price. You reviewed a heavy duty 3/4 ton diesel pickup... so the comparisons should be relevant to that class of vehicle.

    • @sly9263
      @sly9263 8 лет назад

      Not everyone who buys a pickup truck uses it to tow. The price difference on the Denali versions of the 1500 vs the 3500hd is also negligible; it begs the question as to why you wouldn't simply buy the 3500hd.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 лет назад

      +Robert Kavanagh The 3500 is dually in Duramax flavor.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 лет назад

      +jeremyjay46 I didn't compare the Sierra to a car directly. I simply mentioned other diesel options that aren't just trucks.

  • @gmcdenali7178
    @gmcdenali7178 9 лет назад

    The Sierra wouldn't envy you. You both are driving Sierras.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  9 лет назад

      Yes, until the driver spots that giant Duramax badge on the hood! Does the diesel make a bigger statement? I'd like to know if it matters to truck owners if a diesel is coveted even if there's no need to tow or haul heavy loads. This is probably a better question for Ram owners because of their new medium duty diesel option. Still, does it matter?

    • @gmcdenali7178
      @gmcdenali7178 9 лет назад

      +Diesel Review I don't think it matters what engine it has, or trim: Base Sierra, SLE, SLT, Denali. Or if it's a 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD. For most, it won't even matter if they're driving a Sierra and you're driving a Silverado, or the other way around. As long as they're both from the same automobile company. In this case GM. So... I don't think it matters.

      +Diesel Review Don't you mean their LIGHT duty?

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  9 лет назад

      +George GMC Sierra Denali Yes, of course! I think Ram calls it "eco diesel" and Ford calls it "Ecotec" (even though Ford's eco version runs on gasoline).

    • @gmcdenali7178

  • @DaltonHenry

    4wd control... noticed it's settings are 2hi, 4 hi, and 4lo. Is there no "auto" 4x4 setting on the 2500 trucks like on 1500 models?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  9 лет назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm guessing that the auto 4x4 mode might not exist on 6.7l Duramax diesel models due to the 765 lb-ft of torque and Allison transmission.

    the auto up on the windows is only for the driver so you don't accidentally roll your passenger's fingers or whatever in the window

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 лет назад

      Mostly anything in this price range and lower have automatic pinch protection and auto windows all around. (since the 1990's) This shows that customers don't care or GMC cuts costs at this level. I think an expensive, upscale crew cab needs all auto windows. Thanks for watching.

While the trip was fun and factual, I spent a lot on fuel for effectively dead-heading round trip. Still, it ends on a good note, because I had a great time in this rig!

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 лет назад +1

      +Chris Luszczynski The basic Toyota Pick-up truck was morphed into the Tacoma we have today. The Tacoma is bigger than the original. The original I had included a manual transmission and the infamous 22RE 4-cylinder engine. This was back when air conditioning and power windows and door locks and even power steering were optional - all if which my Toyota truck did NOT have.
