Agree! I've had my Cannon X now for a couple of years absolutely no problems. Recently put in 2" Fulcrum lift kit and completely changed the ride. I didn't mind it before as it is still a dual cab ute so not going to be smooth as a Rolls but new suspension completely changed it. People carry on about Toyota/ Ford but couldn't justify the extra 30 grand for pretty much the same thing. Yes it doesn't have the power or the 3.5T towing but let's face it Toyota doesn't have the reliability it used to have and the less said about the 10 speed in the Ford the better!
You can get a Nissan navara or an Isuzu for the same money / I know which one id rather have! And considering lot of the issues the D4 had have mainly been fixed with the new generations!
@@RossReviewsau the ride is firm as the suspension on the XSR was totally revised prior to release on purpose. The Canon & Canon X were considered too soft a ride by most 4x4 reviewers, hence this was beefed up. It also has all terrain, not highway terrain tyres, harder side walls. Question, you're defensive on the determination the ride is too harsh, did you ever check the original tyre pressure, are they over inflated? Should have deflated the tyres just to see the difference, yes still firm but not harsh crossing your own wheel tracks I'd suspect. Irrespective of ride, for a vehicle on hot highway tyre pressures it preformed most admirably on sand. Slow to 100 you say. Match it to Toyota's 4.5 VDJ V8, now that's slow to 100, yet it's got more kilowatts & torque. I realise that's not an accurate comparison, but for the XSR outputs, it more than adequate. Glad it began to impact on you after a week, as you could have spent same time in a Hilux and had less interior comfort and began to hate it. Chinese utes/vehicles are here for good and buyers are totally realising how friggin value packed and good they are, the nah sayers are loosing ground to defend the tried and true brands. Then there is the Steed with all its chrome bling, still polished up with pride on the streets of Darwin, hang on, they shouldn't be there, they should have rusted away and have self detonated by now according to , "It's Chinese Crap, it won't last", well the territory owners defy that daft logic. I'm not a 4WD guy mate although if I was I would buy a Ram & yes it's more than twice the price so of course there's no comparison, but this thing seems to do the job for the money so I can't knock it man & it looks the goods from the outside so let's hope they improve over time, enjoyable review brah & Chyna love you lonnggg time! hahaha.
I just bought one x model your spot on suspension is shit especially after I fitted a bullbar I’ve just ordered a 2 inch lift for it . I previously had a px3 ranger 2 failed turbos replaced under warranty and an average fuel economy of 13 litres not towing . I just thought stuff it so far so good I’ve only done 5000km so far at the end of the day keep it 5 or 6 years while under warranty then move it on
Honest review but think you need to add more tests. Mud, hard stuff, towing, what does handle like in the wet... We seem to be done with 4WD UTEs, and UTEs in general, in the UK. The tax break has been cut so the market has gone. Bit of a shame as I liked my Ranger and then a Navara, which hit 500,000Ks of hard duty before being sent to Ukraine. Doubt the GWM will see much past 200,000Ks. Why does every manufacturer ignore "strong and robust" and give us "plastic bling".
The new cars seem to be built to last till the warranty and then you need a new one aka more profitable for them to keep selling cars I feels like.. not many cars made like the old days where they will last 15-20-30 years if looked after.. sad reality
@@RossReviewsau The old days... have a '71 XJ6 and that is serviceable, like every part is designed to be repaired, drives like a modern car but no air bags so don't crash.... Interesting video mate Should rewiew d'max thats had some engine work done there's a lot that are running good power and its in the same platform as the gwm
All the higher spec utes try to be fancy which is a bad trend. If these chinese utes had a bulletproof 3 litre engine and no rust problems and none of them would cost more than 35k then they would sell a lot better.
Unpopular request. Would love for you to do a review and drive video of a Tesla car. I'm not fond of them by any means, but it'll just be interesting and different to see one in your channel.
I don't know why you're complaining about the suspension so much ? You didn't exactly say why except it's rough off road like all 4x4 off road. What could they do to fix it? On the road it looked like it was driving nicely and a comfortable ride ?? If the Chyynaa interior was cloth and boring you would say its cheap and nasty. Now im just ranting lol. Nice review though Johnny. I definitely won't be buying one. For $52k there are far better options out there.💯%
That would have to be the worst review i have ever seen It was so biased If you want more out of it then pay an extra 30k more for the other brands $52K drive away you cant go past the value and 7 year warranty I have had Landcruisers, Patrols, and Pajeros and im a Mercedes Benz mechanic I love the Cannon
I dont know how anyone could justify 45k on this like i wouldnt pay 20k for it. Doesn't excel at anything like you could get a 15k ute that is better off road, which is the only reason to even buy a ute over a normal car. This is for the average uneducated person who buys a truck for the road and pays way too much for it.
Ross, don't buy one. They're slow, and they will break down after the warranty, I would prefer to buy a used Ranger or Hilux. they will last longer. I mean it is your opinion but personally, I wouldn't...
Yes, some hiluxs do 13sec + to 100 kmh. But most fords are quicker than that. And yes u may be right about reliability. But some hiluxs and certain fords are way more than capable of being reliable, then this Chinese thing. And be honest. U would prefer a ford or hilux or some Japanese utes then this…. And plus. These are not even that old. Maybe in the future these things will just depreciate and become worthless. Aswell as being not reliable.
I own one add rate it highly for the money ive had patrols and hiluxs and would have the gwm anyday
I like it but a lot of things annoying me
Same! Actually prefer it to the Hilux but again depends on what you are looking for and using it for.
Remember its give or take 30 k less than the name brands,,,it is what it is,,,if its not for you,, pay the 80k for a hilux or ranger
I agree.. n I low key like this Ute
Best review of a cannon on RUclips. Cheers Ross
Appreciate you
$2500 Toughdog suspension kit would sort out the ride- seems like a good package for the price.
My friend has one that's heavily modified. Nice rig Nice ride if you upgrade suspension. Power its slow with a tune its got a bit.of zip to it
For less than $2k you have great suspension upgrades. Still a heck of a lot cheaper than anything else
