  • This film documents the quest of Fiji's first NGO - NatureFiji-MareqetiViti - to find a long-lost bird in the Pacific Island'sdense forests. The red-throated lorikeet, or Kulawai, is endemic to Fiji and hasn't been seen for almost thirty years!
If the Kulawai cannot be found by the team in the next few years, it will have to be declared extinct. But by utilising a combination of outreach in social media, public awareness in communities and beyond, and actual observatory fieldwork on the ground, the NatureFiji staff together with volunteers are determined to find this beautiful little parrot!
You can help them by becoming a member of Fiji's first local NGO NatureFiji-MareqetiViti and assisting them in raising funds for future expeditions. You can also spread the word to friends and family, visit their page and share this video.

Thanks you Sidanth! Appreciate your nice words! Fingers crossed the Kulawai is still flying somewhere in the dense cloud forests of Fiji, but I am quite positive that it is :)

That would be pretty epic! Might well be the collared lory though which looks quite similar. Where do you think you have seen them on Viti Levu?

@@TomVierus but they were big n in a flock not flying alone but I think to many deforestation n all that had caused them to shift into mountains I don’t believe birds have been extinct in Fiji they are still somewhere in mountain ⛰️ areas
