Valve is clearly well aware of what they're doing. It's not difficult to avoid certain names. All it would take is one meeting/email to make everyone aware of new codenames. You need to calm down and take off your foil hats. "VaLvE lEaKeD HL3." No. They gave it to you.
I felt like the end of HL:A was Valve saying tacitly "Hey, yeah HL3 probably. Yup, see ya in a while". There is no leaking what's already been soft announced.
valve may be aware, but it's not like 100% of their developers necessarily can't ever make mistakes.

If HL3 is real, Warframe may have unintentionally, ironically spoiled it in their interactive teaser demo Relay during Tennocon 2024. Gordon Freeman cardboard cutouts and Halflife promotional posters with a scuffed 8 imagery that could be mistaken as a 3. Perhaps it was a meme, but, if HL3 is being shadow developed, an ill timed meme.

They are leaking HL3 codes in files since 2013.
For real. They've always been fiddling around with something half-life related seemingly since like 2010 at least. I do think hl3 is more likely as time goes on, but I still think this could mean nothing for potentially years to come.

@@hobosnake1There were indeed a lot of rumours around 2013-2015, but that version of HL3 got cancelled because the source 2 engine was still incomplete. One version was gonna be some kind of open world game, another would have you collecting parts to upgrade Dog - pretty weird stuff.
this latest version, dubbed "HLX", has been in development since after Half-Life: Alyx released, and has been in active development for longer than the other versions. The "Project White Sands" leak indicates that voice actors have just finished work on the game, indicating that it's near completion. Since it's the 20th anniversary for HL2 this year, I think that would be the perfect time for this kind of announcement.

@killzonexp Oh no doubt, retail was amazing compared to beta, but Beta had its own deep dark aesthetic that was really something for the time especially for a game, it just would've been nice to see where that story could've gotten if it was fully flushed out
That’s not entirely true. I’m sure they had to redo SOME stuff but the dark and gritty stuff really only goes back to 2001. The version that leaked in 2003 was just a shitty version of what we got.

@dibberz-v1z I didn't claim it was the sole reason for the transition it was just one of them, the guy responsible was even caught by the FBI after being tricked that he'd be given a job, leaks were during 2003 and it wasn't the only version leaked, so I believe the only regurgitating braindead remarks would be yourself, stop taking yourself so seriously.

They switched the ending to ep2 around, eli hands us the crowbar and everything saying “we have work to do” …if they weren’t 100% working on hl3 i would be extremely surprised. It wouldn’t make sense for them to make that significant change to the canon if it meant they’d shelve half life for another 20 years. @@rxdane9320 not really? When i saw the retcon i immediately had a better understanding of why making hl3 was so challenging. They killed off the leader of THE resistance? All the plans and knowledge he had was now in the hands of the enemy. All the bases, all the weaponry, were now in the hands of the species that took over the entire planet in 7 hours. They accidentally made it easy mode for the combine at that point. There probably wasn’t much room to work with in order to make a conclusion where the protagonists are successful. With the retconned ending, now both alyx and eli are still alive. That leaves a significant amount of room for them to be able to work on leading towards a satisfying successful ending.
George RR martin killed off a main major character in the ending to the last book in the Song of Ice and Fire series- its now been 13 years since he continued the series because he is probably running into the same problem- making it too easy for the antagonists to sweep the field and win.
The change valve made to the half life cannon is pretty monumental, its a little silly to think they’d make the effort to move those pieces of the story around and then not do anything with the story. Especially when they show you they are continuing the story.

I think started playing half life at just the right time. I played the original half life and half life 2 in June through October 2023 so haven’t had to wait for as long as other fans of the games have.

It might be possible that project white sand is the next VR title of Half-Life. Half life alyx ended in a big cliff hanger and for a cutscene you were "playing" as gordon freeman. The new half life title might just be a VR title for Half Life where you get to play as Gordon Freeman throughout the story.

I never played Deadlock nor I think I will play it this is clearly not a game for me but from what gameplay I see it look like it's going completely against valve's philosophy in making games with random effects everywhere and too much stuff flying on the screen it's not simple on the eyes like TF2 or CS or left 4 dead for examples even gameplay in those games were simple to understand but hard to master watching Deadlock gameplay feel like watching overwatch gameplay like it's gonna trigger epileptic seizures
Give it a try, I've only played Lol and tried Dota, it's much simpler than both of them, in my opinion it's the best MOBA for people who don't like or can't get into MOBAs.

If Valve didn't want the "pressure", then they certainly would not have specifically went back to "continue" the cliffhanger of EP2 and literally put you in the eyes of Gordon fucking Freeman as Eli says "we've got work to do" while handing you a crowbar. Either they're releasing HL3 or that was the biggest troll ever - there's no room for anything between.
Did you not play Alyx? literally ends with a HL3 teaser. Thats the ONLY time valve has directly previewed something related to a main HL installment since probably 2008, and it was IN A FULL HALF LIFE CAMPAIGN that basically fills the role of Episode Three

Alyx doesn't fill the role of Ep3 at all, it's a prequel. It's not a progression of the episodic series they were going for. Alyx was designed to be a standalone product to bring in new fans, thats why they went with it being a VR exclusive and a prequel. they didnt want anyone to think this has anything to do with the episodes.
my point still stands. Until it's on steam, I'm realistically managing my expectations. 17 years is just too long to expect anything more to come from it.

@@darqv9358 You should play Alyx with the NOVR mod, it JUST got a major update and I heard it's still a really good game even without the VR aspect. Of course, VR is still the best way to play but it's still good with the mod.

Deadlock remidns of Epic's Paragon, i did not like a MOBA in third person. The range limit zone was very confusing to deal with.
