@garthblack8330 cool I never had the fang myself but that was an iconic Cobra vehicle. People can harp on how that was an impossible design but I don't care....personal mini helicopter...COOL 👍👍👍
Bludd has so much potential as a character. He just wasn’t fleshed out enough. No crazy gimmicks, he was a soldier and mercenary. I love the idea that he was a loving family man providing for his family, while also being a ruthless soldier for hire. I mean his name by itself is badass…Major Sebastian Bludd!
Completely agree. I guess he was the victim of being lost in the shuffle with so many more newer characters being added into the mix. I really do hope that he will be a big player in the new Skybound series. As he had a promising debut 👍
Your videos are so well done Brotha. The amount of research for the backstories of the characters you've chosen, shows the true devotion you have for GIJoe. I greatly appreciate it because I too am a devoted fan of the franchise. I'd love to see a vid on the Iron Grenadiers- Destro's faction(Darklon, Metal-Head, Voltar, General Mayhem, Mistress Armada, TARGATs, Nullifier, Annihilators, Undertows, etc). Possibly Ninja Force or even Cobra's Eco Warriors(Cesspool, Toxo-Viper, Sludge Viper, Toxo-Zombie, Repulsor, & Corrosion). Always a delight to see a fellow Filipino doing well and making content. ✌🏽❤
Thanks! Always love hearing my work is appreciated! Especially when coming from a fellow Pinoy 👍 thanks so much for the suggestions! I'll definitely look into that although as a kid I checked out around 88...so I missed out on the peak of Destros Iron Grenadier and Ninja Force. Although as an adult my appreciation of both has grown. 👍 I've also been learning lots of stuff I missed out on doing my research so it's been equally satisfying for me! Anyway thanks again for watching and commenting! Hope to hear more from you in the future! 👍👍👍
I like Major Bludd. He had a lot of potential that wasn't seen in the comics, such as his being a tactician with training via the Australian SAS. Oddly, his look seemed inspired by Man-at-Arms over at Mattel's He-Man line; and his right arm is encased in an armored brace to shield it from the blast & hot exhaust gas effects of his rocket pistol.
It's fun when you talk about the Marvel series. Had a lot of fun reading those even if I didn't finish it. Bludd never stood out for me but honestly Cobra isn't complete without him.
Thanks! Yeah, despite his unique look and character he was quickly overshadowed by the likes of Storm Shadow and Zartan. Oh well hopefully this new comic will feature him more 👍
Renegades had a lot of good writing in it (it had a great Zartan origin take). Bludd has always been a fav and I dug this vid. I have always thought of his arm as robotic thou, one figure (orange diaper wearing Bludd, V3 I think) Even has a weird elbow spike bayonet thing. Yo Freaking Joe!
Yeah I think Renegades is sorely underrated. I think too much focus was on it feeling too much like the A team but I loved the slow burn on how they were slowly introducing the rest of the Universe. A pity it was cancelled before it could reach its true potential.
I agree mostly. I hated the premise of Renegades. But the show did have some good writing. I was surprised when I finally got around to it years later.
@cheeseburger12 yeah it was definitely a reinvention but appreciate the numerous easter eggs and seeds they planted along the way. Big loss that we never got to see the results of all their world building.
Sideshow made a really nice looking 1:6 Scale version of Major Bludd and I wonder if Threezero will also make one, seeing as they have done/are doing Cobra Commander and Destro already.
@LtHavoc1983 oh cool! How deep into the character selection do they go though? Like what's the most obscure one they've done in that scale? Genuinely curious 👍
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Sideshow back then did Duke, Beachead, Stalker, Flint, Snake Eyes and Dustya for the Gi Joes and did Cobra Commander, Destro, The Baroness, Major Bludd, Storm Shadow, Firefly, Cobra Viper and Cobra Trooper and Officer in the regular blue uniform, and a desert tan variant and a black clad Cobra Sniper. Threezero has done so far Roadblock, Snake Eyes for the Joes and did Cobra commander, Destro, Storm Shadow and Firefly. The differences between those two lines are, that the Sideshow ones are more in line with the Classified series of today, basically all modern (well for the 2010-2014) reinterpretation of the figures, with some deviation in some parts (lots of debate was made about the head sculpts of Duke, Stalker and Beachead without the mask). Threezero´s current line, are basically the old style 3/34 inch but done in 1:6, complete with plastic bandoleer parts and such, something that has sparked some debate among collectors, because of the price tag of the figures (they are around 150 to 200 Dollars), lots of collectors think that its overpriced, as similar priced figures from the likes of Easy 6 Simple (the go to modern military figure maker in 1/6 these days) have all cloth parts and are super detailed. Personally, I think Threezero is doing exactly the right thing. Yes the more plasticy part can be odd, but the figures itself are top notch, very sturdy in construction and the amount of details are amazing, not to mention the posability. The other factor is, that those plastic part stuff are less likley to break or snap on you, and the figures come fully geared up for the most part, so no tiresome putting on of parts that drive you crazy. So if you ever wanted the small quarter inch figures in big, then Threezero has you covered.
@LtHavoc1983 cool! Thanks for the extensive overview....very much appreciated! I've never gotten their stuff but I have heard a lot of great things about three zero....especially when it comes to Transformers. Are both companies still actively producing Joes?
It seems mostly forgotten, But the Commander was correct. Destro had Scarface leak to the Joes where Cobra Commander was going to be in order for him to be taken out. However, he realized that the Baroness was going with the Commander and then lead a last second rescue mission. It was never shown that the Commander actually realized this, but Destro did betray the Commander first and then spent the rest of the series going on and on about being a man of honor.
Fair point 👍 I mean at the end of the day they were really all looking out for their own interests. In the end there really is "no Honor among thieves" . At least you could give Bludd his due as being simply loyal to the money 😅
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I am a massive fan of the Larry Hama GIJoe Marvel stuff. Especially up to around issue 115. A huge reason is after that, the Marvel toys pretty much left most anything believable in the dust. However, some of that was an overdose of ninja and the way Destro was pretty much portrayed after that. To me it was kind of like Jim Starlin not knowing what to do with Thanos after Infinity Gauntlet. He didn't have a real purpose. Especially because Hama kept trying to lean harder into the honor and Destro not being such a bad guy thing. I don't know. It really gets tiring for me - especially since he was the traitor first! But even in the much later stories, Zartan and Destro seem to be much closer allies to GIJoe then Cobra Commander in quite some time. Larry Hama gets bored and Cobra Commander tries to kill Destro again out of the blue for no reason. Again.
@cheeseburger12 yup I can see the love for the comic from you! I really enjoyed the Marvel comic as a kid but I guess a lot of the intricacies of Hama's writing flew over my head back then. I'm overdue for a re-read. Doing these stories has given me good reason to do so and I have been learning quite a lot myself 😅 and I'll always appreciate insights from viewers like you! Keep them coming!
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Yeah, I actually probably love the cartoon more than the comic, even though the comic is better written. But regardless, the file cards and most of the basics still came from Larry Hama. And there is a lot of great stuff in the comics. And considering he also had to deal with a lot of editorial mandates.....it had no business being as awesome as it is.
@cheeseburger12 exactly! And those covers....so many of them are emblazed in my childhood brain. Hama is sorely underrated given what he managed to accomplish with that Marvel run. I wonder though...did you read his continuation in IDW? If you did...what did you think? I myself never did...
Who was your very first Cobra action figure as a kid? And now as an adult collector?
I have no memory of the figures but I remember my first toy was the Fang helicopter and I played with it so much.
@garthblack8330 cool I never had the fang myself but that was an iconic Cobra vehicle. People can harp on how that was an impossible design but I don't care....personal mini helicopter...COOL 👍👍👍
Bludd actually was my first GIJOE toy. From a flea market.
@cheeseburger12 oh nice! I never got his figure as a kid. I think my first ever Bludd figure was the 25th Anniversary one!
For me it was the Cobra Eel, one of the best action figures from the 1985 line.

New to your channel. Heard about it from Bobby Skullface. Great stuff. Keep it up.🤙🏼
Oh cool! thank you! I appreciate the check out :) sorry about the Bludd episode though I just realized the images were off from the audio 😬😬😬

I love how exaggerated evil he looks and his poems
Bludd is literally named bludd.
Yup hisblook made up for the kinda sterile looks of the Cobra troopers that came before him.👍👍👍
Very interesting 😉
Good to know :) Bludd deserves more attention 👍
@StoriesFromTheToyshelf was Bludd ever on Laugh-in?
@Norrisc761 OK sorry just woke up. Your comment just flew over my head 😅
Happy new year

You missed Bludd being hired by the pentagon to assassinate Snake-eyes after Stormshadow got him sent on a mission in Europe.
This happened in the Marvel run? Oh man that guy was up to so much it's hard to keep track 😅 seriously though thanks for the tip! Will look it up! 👍
