    Great review man. And don't worry about those cosmetics. The whole point of aluminum is that you can take it places fiberglass can't go. Absolutely nothing detrimental to the hull in what you showed. Use that baby! I have the H16DB HyperLift Duck Boat rigged for fishing and yeah bottom is scratched up. Means it's doing it's job. Now I am not hitting stumps while running or anything, but I have no qualms about rubbing the bottom to get somewhere.

    Not all Aluminum boat compartments leak, at least not nearly as bad as others boat brands. The reason Xpress has problems with leaks is pretty obvious. Their compartment don't have any rubber edging like other boat brands do. It helps reduce leaks greatly. I like your boat and If I ever get an Xpress boat that would be the first thing I would modify.

    Very nice set up! A very honest review, much appreciated! I’m looking at the x21. There is a video review from a gentleman from the Ozarks that fixed the issues with water in the compartments. He went in depth what he did to fix the water problems. It was very helpful.

    Ive been trying to get my compartments waterproof. I siliconed around the top of the lip where they have put the lip on. Also, i found most of my water was coming in under my trilling motor foot pedal in the recess area. Im about 95 percent waterproof now. One of my drain hoses on my back compartment was leaking around the threads. Silicone foxed that too. Ill let you knownif i get 100 percent waterproof. Did you ever get it any better? Good news is, all that only cost me 10$ and a couple hours.

    I think most aluminum boats have wet compartments. Even if they're sealed they still suffer from condensation on the cold metal surfaces. I've considered an aluminum boat for my next ride and have just decided that most things will have to be stored in dry bags. I currently use dry bags for my auto inflate life jacket, paper towels, extra ball caps, etc. So far things have remained dry and I don't have to find my life jacket blown up in my front storage compartment. My boat is fiberglass but a good wind driven rain can still leak in sometimes.

    • @southernboundaries
      @southernboundaries  2 года назад

      I have a few things in dry bags and they work wonders. Haven’t had my life jacket blow up yet. I can see your point on condensation getting in and but would it condensate that much and still leave my carpet line storage compartments soaked?

    • @jrainey44
      @jrainey44 2 года назад +1

      @@southernboundaries I've had 3 different bass trackers before and all would sweat the storage compartments even when there hadn't really been much rain. It's surprising how much can form, but for sure rain accounts for a lot of it. I think ultimately we'll just have to use the dry bags for any real solution. I saw an H22 Bay xpress a couple weeks ago and it was down right beautiful so I might volunteer for the wet compartments lol.

      @mbb-pr4zc 2 года назад

      @@jrainey44 there is a video of the compartments being spackled from underneath. This may be a good idea but I’m buying dry bags anyway because there’s no way to stop a good sweat at temperature change. EDIT: for my brand new 2022 Xpress H20 Bay that is ready for delivery in New Bern, NC on in roughly 10 days!!!!! It scan be seen as SOLD on the website now and they’re up fitting trolling motor, graphs etc… Metallic Charcoal hull with gulfsand interior and brown SeaDek!!!!!!!

      @@southernboundariesthank you. I’m looking at your exact setup but it has a single axle and has sea deck. Not sure if you think that’s an issue?(single axle)
      I’m coming from a Ranger 178 alum with a Yamaha 70hp. I tore the carpet out and put sea deck in it. Been a fantastic boat but looking for a better ride in rough water and more speed. I could also go with a used glass boat but really love the sea deck that comes on the Xpress now that I’ve had it myself. And I don’t need the speed of a 250hp for my style.

    • @southernboundaries
      @southernboundaries  Месяц назад +1

      @@mtayloroutdoors I wish I would have gotten sea deck on mine. The dual axle has its advantages over the single. The boat is light enough that a dual or single won’t matter too much. The dual is just better for backing up in my opinion. Sea deck may add some weight too just remember that. In an aluminum boat it doesn’t take much for gain or lose a few mph

    I have a’17 x19 and the seats rotted out in a year and a half, the back lid hits one of the seats and cut it, paints peeling on the bottom.Xpress said they would cut me a deal on new seats which wasn’t very much. I got an upholstery guy that’s gonna put fiber board and premium vinyl on all 3 seats for $500. But the boat performs well. Two power poles full tournament rig with a 175 will bump 65 with a little chop.
