As a young musician I thought I had to be as brutal as possible to be heavy. Chuck taught me that you can write about more important things and still be brutal. Like life, family, friendship, judgement, etc. I thought I had to be evil and gory to get my point across. Thank you Chuck forever in my music and heart R.I.P.

I recall the first death metal fest I've attended in 2003. Went to it alone because my friends were not into metal by the time. And I was a bit afraid the public will be mean or aggressive but I couldn't be more wrong! Excluding several drunk guys, the metal heads were really nice and I had a very good time.

I remember 8 years ago, when I so much was into Death and used to stay lost in thoughts of his demise,,, I stopped listening to Death and today after such a huge gap, somehow pulled up Lack of Comprehension again on RUclips, and now watched this video and I think I'm going back there again :'(

A few short-term members of Death have slammed him for being a control freak. The other more experienced members of Death understand and respect the fact that he was simply the mastermind band leader type who had a vision, and they were happy to help him see it through. Chuck was in control, but he wasn't a dick about it.
It was meant both directly and indirectly. There's too much focus on negativity in life, there's plenty of that already. So, we should focus on becoming more positive, that includes Chuck's life and not his passing.
