Watching two guys that know how to paddle a canoe fills me with good cheer. It's a skill that's lost on 99% of the human race. I've owned a half dozen aluminum canoes. Two ended up getting leaks in the seams. So on trips I always brought some caulking in a squeeze tube with me. I suppose one could melt pitch, but what a mess.
Just watched part 3 and 4 and so glad Andy made it through. You can tell in Part 4 he wasn't feeling that well yet he didn't hold you back. Enjoyed your presentation of your first aid kit and emergency gear
My Scout master said graded sticks make finer fire 🔥 he always repeated this and it stayed with me You grade yours and firewood so well keep going this is so good .
What a totally expected place to see a White Wagtail. I can't wait to watch the videos about the rest of this trip and to see your upcoming Sweden trip videos.
Stumbled upon your channel and found you were here in old "Svedala" (Sweden). Glad to see you enjoy it and i hope you will return to discover other parts of the country. We have big rivers in wild country just perfect for canoeing in Värmland, Dalarna, Hälsingland, Medelpad, Ångermanland, Jämtland and Härjedalen to name a few county's. We also have the mountains and big vast wilderness in northern Sweden i am sure you guys would love to bring canoes into and have a hike in. Tons of nature, very few people. Enjoy! :)
Awesome adventure Simon. You blokes really know how to camp right. Good everything from equipment to the food. Thanks for bringing us along brother. 👍🏼🤠
Lol “oh boy” Sam Beckett and Quantum Leap 😂😊 one of my favorite shows in the day 👍👍. Looks like you two had a good first day. Amazing country side...thanks for taking us along. Blessings to you, Simon. Take care my friend, Nikki.
Hi Simon I've come across from Andy's channel this is the first video I've watched of yours and I really enjoyed it great camera work. I've camped with Andy a couple of times and he's a top bloke you will have to cone Dartmoor with him next time he comes down. I'm looking forward to part two and will catch up with your other video's soon 😁👍
Good work guys. Love the semi wild camp sites they got going on over there. shame we don't have anything similar over here. We seem to be a few decades behind the times with stuff like that in the U.K.
How lovely was that!? I watched this while sipping red wine and sitting in a hot, candle lit bath after a very long day out on the ranges....bliss! Thanks for sharing this awesome trip. What a fantastic location and I really like the sensible basic camping areas. The perfect mix of wild without causing much imprint on the surroundings. Can't wait to have time to get back out in my canoe.

Awesome, finally the long awaited video trip begins in Sweden. WOW.. Such beautiful scenery is totally breath taking. Thanks for sharing, you make us feel we are along with ya on the trip. CHEERS Mates. Enjoy your trip. ATB Von
Best channel on RUclips Simon! Your attention to detail shows in each and every video. I thoroughly love each one. I am very excited to travel along with you on this adventure! You have also inspired me to go on my own paddling adventure this fall, a 100 mile trip! Any info you can pass along will greatly benefit this novice paddeler. Quantum leap, wow! I miss that old show.😉
Thanks Kevin! My tips for your trip would be 1. Make room for a couple of luxury items - a comfy seat/chair for the evenings being one! 2. Take spare socks - I really like the waterproof ones - change them daily and wash and dry them over the fire in the evenings. 3. A decent kneeling pad - I find kneeling to be much more comfortable than sitting - puts your spine in a better shape - reducing back ache. Have a great time! There a few things in life more enjoyable than canoe tripping! 👍🛶😁
Gosh, it is beautiful! And the blue bins are brilliant! The campsites are very nice too; comfy & well appointed. Bet you were glad to have the gloves as well as the great company.
I remember drinking straight from a lake during a childhood trip through Algonquin with my father back in the 1960s. The solution to pollution is dilution. Amazing trip, thanks for making this!
"All seasons in a day", well there's swedish spring in a nutshell. If you don't like the weather, wait for 20 minutes. Looking forward to next episode.
Simon! You and Andy finally in Sweden. A trip there is definitely on my bucket list-but just retired now so must win the Texas Lottery first. 😉🤣 What a great 1st night at the hut, snow and all. The views are stunning just like you said. Great video-Thanks for sharing this. I look forward to part 2!!
I read some of the comments from people living in Canada or some of the northern US states. And it is true some if those areas and parts of mid Sweden are very similar. Like your snack. Polarbröd and salamiost på tub is what I bring along on when I go geocaching for a day. Plus some soup. Check in on part 2 tomorrow. Thanks for this film. Hälsningar från Sverige
Pleased to see that you travelled safely. Quite a journey for a Norfolk boy. Respectfully suggest that you squeeze the cheese from the bottom not the middle !! Good Stuff .
Hi Simon Ya it's Me Ol "Oregon Mike H" I have Followed both you guys for a long time and know I'm going to greatly enjoy this series over the next several days. Yap, Love this stuff Simon and wanted to say I fell a bit sorry for not commenting as often as i should. I think I'll make it a point to change all that. OK then, here we Go, I'm a Stow-Away in the back of the Canoe & We're Off!
Simon, where is "the younger bloke in the woods," Tom? Perhaps school is still on in the UK? Your camera work has made me smile, so many views remind me of paddling around lakes in Northern New England USA where I originate from. We are catching up on videos today after just returning from one of our two short trips so far this summer. School has been out for several weeks here in the Philippines. The mini-people are having a blast and we even had my dear Mother-in-law in tow with us, enjoying the fun. Now for part two of your wonderful adventure.
I really enjoyed this video. It is nice to see that Sweden has an area like this. The USA has a few canoe areas like it also. the Boundary Canoe Area Wilderness is my favorite area of this type to travel I in the USA.
Those blue containers are perfect for a canoe keeping the front down when soloing tucks in perfectly instead of a big old square cooler excellent video by the way 🛶🛶🛶🛶
Beautifully shot and stunning scenery! I love it that you can drink straight from the lake. Amazing trip so far. Really looking forward to the next installment.
Looks a fantastic place crystal clear Water. Great Scenery All Weathers .not even a Leaky Canoe Spoilt it lol ..looking 4 ward to the rest of the Series and Andys Too ..Mega Thumbs up from me
Your cinematography & shot location choice is awesome mate, it's good watching yours & Andy's videos back-to-back🤠👍. 🙄, I reckon of you'd packed 2 big screw-eyes you might have been able to hang the hammock inside the hut 😁.....
Thanks for the great videos, both of you. I have been considering DANO for a canoe trip for some time now; these videos give a great sense of what I can expect. My one concern with Ed as a jumping off point is that Stora Le is so big ... but your videos show that it is a nice enough lake that you can spend a few days on it without it being too monotonous. I can certainly see the appeal of Ed from the point of view of the SJ stopping there; anywhere else and you have to tack on a hour of bus ride.
It’s a good starting point - Bertil at Canodal offers a pick up and collection service too, so you don’t have to retrace your route! The Danos get busy in the summer, worth bearing in mind. 👍🛶
Good stuff. Pleased you got there and it already seems you enjoyed it. You can’t beat Scandinavia for outdoors and especially open water paddling stuff (if you start this side of the Atlantic). Looking forward to seeing the rest
Thanks Simon for another adventure! Sweden looks awesome! There's nothing like canoeing on a beautiful lake, reminds me of the Adarondacks Mts here in New York where for 4 generations my family as camped and canoed. The weather is crazy, good thing you are always prepared! Well done mate, thanks again as always for filming, looking forward to the next one! Cheers!!
Great watch! I've spent many days on and off the water of the lake Stora Le as a child fishing and camping. It's a really large and deep lake with forest grown steep banks, lots of islands and a winding shoreline. I understand why many outfitters use the aluminium (Linder Incas) canoes because of their robust and durable nature but it comes with a draw back - they're really noisy. And still, there can be holes in them evidently...
Great vid Simon look forward to day two when you change the numbers on the canoes .Glad you and Andy having a great time, looks oh so nice.O'boy so jealous ;)
I just found your site. I really love watching wilderness videos from Scandinavia and Britain. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada and the Swedish lakes are very similar to those I kayak in, although our wilderness camping spots are much more basic. I will subscribe and watch more!
It looks like the Swedish sojourn is off to a brilliant start (less the leaky canoe, maybe)! Off to watch Andy's perspective before the Mother's Day events begin. Stay safe and have fun!
It must get boring with me repeatedly going Oh Wow.... but Oh …..Wow. And thank you for filming it all. Too much to ask or say for here, but just thank you both, very much!

Rewatching the Sweden series and loving it!
What a beautiful place. The adorable bird at 6:50, as best I can tell is a White Wagtail. Loved the vid and look forward to the next one!
Ah! Thank you, I wondered what they were, we saw a lot of them around the lake. 👍
Quantum leap, great show 🥳🛶

I am so happy I don't know what to do with myself. I am going to do my chores, and settle in for this. Already yearning for Day 2.
👍 WOW that 30 minutes went by in a flash!! I could have watched another hour. It looks like a fantastic trip all the best.Fazza 👍
I’d have made the videos longer, but my internet speed is so slow - 48 hr upload for just a 30 minute video! 👎
