Such a wonderful interview! Your questions were humble and intelligent and Nick was sharp as a tack, a true gent and a great person! Thank you for posting this!
I have an 8×10 Space 1999 ad photo of Nick Tate as Allan Carter. The photo came with an Eagle model kit I built several years ago. I framed the photo and it is displayed with the Eagle model kit.
I loved this show when I was young. Nick Tate was super hot when he was young in Space 1999. That was definitely a plus for me. He still looks good today!
Very cool! I remember when Space: 1999 first debut way back when. I was hooked right then and there. Of all the cast from the first season, Nick Tates character Alan Carter was one of my favorites.
What a great interview, in fact I LOVE this style of interview where it just looks like a natural conversation. First Nick Tate interview I've watched, and he seems like such a warm and genuine chap. Thanks for that.
Absolutely wonderful video and seeing Nick talk about the show is great. He really seems like a genuinely great guy. I liked him on TNG as well. I think that was one of Will Wheaton's last episodes if I remember correctly. You mentioned something to Nick that I found that same with me. I was 12 when Space: 1999 aired here in Los Angeles in 1975 and at that time I liked series 2 better. More exciting and the monsters and more colorful sets and costumes. Space Warp is still one of my favs from Series 2. But as I have gotten older I find some of it silly and find that series 1 much more enjoyable and makes you think about the plot and get behind the characters.
Thanks so much. Yes we think alike. I loved all the added tech of course. Seeing the modifications to the eagles, laser turrets on the moon etc but the stories were much more deeper and meaningful. It would have been interesting to see what kind of show would have evolved had they continued. Universal constant....the suits at the studios often don't know what's best when it comes to creativity. Thanks again.
Oh man that was so great, Wonderfest is so far for me to travel but it always been the one show I would like to see over all others. Looking forward to the video clips coming up
Nice interview Oggie. Nick has always been positive about the show and has a reputation for being very fan friendly. Seems like a great guy all around. Looking forward to your coverage of the show.
Wow !great job with the interview Oggie ,you are a natural! Its great to see someone who genuinely appreciates his fans, and is a genuinely nice person as Mr. Tate. His happiness at this event comes straight across.I am looking forward to your wonderfest video( as well as your future builds),take care and thank you for sharing this wonderful interview!
I loved this, thank you so much, I'd love to meet him myself, Nick is wonderful and I love the Alan Carter character, the courage and loyalty that you see for instance in War Games, I got to meet Barry Morse in the 80s which was a thrill also. Best wishes.
Great video! Very nice to see Nick Tate so happy and enthusiastic. Would have loved to be there myself but sadly personal circumstances and 3000 miles of distance prevent it. 😔 Looking forward to more of your coverage of the show.
Always loved Nick Tate as Alan Carter on Space: 1999. I read somewhere that no one would believe someone with an Australian accent could be an astronaut, but he proved them wrong.
Well done! Nick was the flight leader of those amazing Eagle spacecraft, he was the first to check out those oddities in deep space and hopefully come back alive. 2nd season he had a buddy that he gave a foot ball to and called him Cober. I always wondered about that Nickname...😎
You mean the episode where they find the cave with incubated aliens in the glass box, a dad and his son, with the kill-sickness thingy? It was a good episode...
Thanks so much. I recently rewatched the show and was reminded again just how good S1 was over S2. Although i did like a couple of the characters they added I wished they would’ve kept the original cast.
Wow - just a few mins of chatting with Alan Carter went by so fast. I got the impression he was pushed aside in Season 2 as Tony Verdeschi and Bill Fraser seemed to be getting more of the supporting action/hero roles.
I’m always fascinated how shows are created. I watched season 1 after reading the book and came away with a whole new appreciation for the the first season. Thanks for watching
I was 12 years old when I was watching Space 1999 in 1973. Wow, that far back. I loved the first show, but started to lose some interest (still watched it though) during the second series. Great interview. He was one of my favourite characters too, along with Commander Koenig (Martin Landau) and of course Dr Helena Russell (Barbara Bain). Of course, the real star of the show, looking back, was the Eagle in its various forms.
Amazing how much time has flown by. Thanks so much for your comments and kind compliments. It was a pleasure recording this interview. He’s such a great guy.
Nick Tate è fantastico, ho adorato la serie. Come dici anche tu da bambino preferivo la seconda stagione, crescendo ho apprezzato maggiormente la prima, più profonda. Ciao. (Nick Tate is great, I loved the series. As you say, as a child I preferred the second season, growing up I appreciated more the first, more profound. HI.)
I was so thrilled to get to meet Nick at Wonderfest, and he was SO nice!!!! He was a big part of what made Space:1999 so special.
Totally agree with you. Thanks for watching
Best actor in hitsory in my opinion, but definitely the best in Space 1999

He was really great to see and talk to! He said I looked like his brother, I said “oh so he’s very handsome?” He laughed and said he is. 😅

Awesome. Alan was a favorite of mine too

Good job in the interview Interstellar. I loved season 1 too, but I feel that there are a few good episodes from season 2.
