I have gotten vehicles polished locally and they look full of swirls and Ive never had them not burn thru at one point or another so I was afraid of evers touching a polisher, but your videos and some others really boosted my confidence to try it out and I did a 3 step polish on a truck with alot of waterspots that had been baked for years, but the truck had 30k miles with a tricoat candy type paint . And I managed to get so mucho gloss and smoothness out of it, waterspots completely gone and I followed up with a 9yr Ceramic Coat which went fantastic as well. Thanks for bring us thru all the steps and making us understand the process so much better.
For future reference if you’re worried about burning thru I wouldn’t suggest doing a “3 step polish” whatever that is to you on a 30k mile vehicle. Kinda setting yourself up for limitation on how much you can polish out throughout the life of the vehicle, Especially if it’s a DD, and no ppf is going over it to secure that in.
Been watching this channel since I started a year ago, I’ve been a huge fan of KCX and almost only exclusively use KCX products and imjoshv is definitely the best content creators out there for knowledge, videos always make sense, and have helped me tremendously in my detailing journey. So…Thank you for this content. I bought the ceramic, and fingers crossed I win that trip!
Been going through your videos the past few days and just want to say thank you for posting quality vids packed with info, but still right to the point. I've been looking at pressure washers for awhile now, mainly for home car detailing and few odd jobs around the house. I went with the Ryobi 1800 based on your review as well as a few others, not to mention having a few other Ryobi tools in the garage. Have a few upgrades on the way including a Flexzilla garden hose and pw hose for the aesthetics. Wife said I was spending too much on knives and watches, so I figured this is neither, so she can't get mad, right? I do have a question for you. I also got an AstroAI cannon. I initially thought it had a 1.1 orifice, but after a closer look it's apparently a 1.0. Will that change anything too much or would you recommend switching out to a 1.1?
This was super helpful! I always look to learn from experts and I learned a lot especially for efficiency. What a cool tip about patterns! Do you prefer clay bar or clay mits? What time a day do you recommend for an outdoor ceramic coating? Great content as always!
Love your videos Josh. I swear I can watch your videos 2-3x and still learn something new. So informative. Quick question though, new car (about a year old) with minor scratching and marring. I assume a one step would be enough, but would you recommend doing a 2 step to maximize gloss and true correction or is that over board?
Another great video Josh. I love learning how to take care of my vehicles from you. I’m not in the business but I enjoy taking care of my vehicles. But since I live in Las Vegas, I don’t get much detailing done on my vehicles June through August, lol. It was 120 2 days ago!!Keep up the great work.
Hello Josh. Awesome video and lots of info. Thanks for taking the time to make it . I have a question that I have never seen answered. I have a vehicle that has striping on it. How do I polish over this area without stripping off the striping itself? Do I hand polish that area and then apply the ceramic coating over it? That’s what I have done in the past and it has faded over time. Just wanted to see if there is another way? Thanks . Keep up the awesome work and videos that you provide.
This is great. I’ve been using a hybrid wash lately….i find it gives me the same results but saves time. Any reason not to use it under these circumstances?
No there is more than one way to prep a vehicle for your coating. But the main thing is to properly clean and decontaminate so that the coating can properly adhere to the paint
Thanks very much, Josh. Appreciate all the knowledge. I don't see the Koch polish listed in the Items List. Do you sell on your site? Also, as far as electric polishers, what is your recommendation for a first purchase? I know you have done lots on this but just a recommendation would really help. I would like something middle of the road for sure so that I don't outgrow quickly. Also, I bought the Uber Flex house recently and that is a gamechanger. The length and quality is really great. Huge change and improvement. Which I got it sooner. Thanks again.
Great video Josh and I do mean great I have said it more than once I do wish I had found your channel before I did you have taught this old man a lot and I thank you
nice video. if your car has been ceramic coated but its been a year or two , is the prep process the same ? do you strip off old coating first? what would you use for that? do you throw throw away your micro fiber cloths since they have ceramic coating in them? enjoy your channel, keep up the good work.
Depends how the coating was cared for throughout the year. You should wash and decon, but if you do clay use a light synthetic clay towel and be gentle. You can polish with carpro essence if you wish to, then apply topper or whatever you wish to slap on after. Dont go into a deep polishing stage on the coating is the main goal and clay = marring and abrasion so stick to least aggressive options possible. It’s best practice to toss the towels out, or dedicate them to junk towels for shop or whatever if you treat them after use.
So no oes talking about what wiper fluid to use with a ceramic coating. Grant it 9/10 times you don’t even have to turn your wipers on but winters coming (GOT😜) and where I’m at the brine salt they use will NOT just roll off the window. Wiper fluid is 8-12 in ph and are not coating friendly. I’m using regular water mixed with rainx but this could freeze if not mixed right. So in your professional suggestion what washer fluid should we be using with ceramic coating?????
Good info! I would love to do some of that but it's a chemical solution maze. And I'm thinking those partially filled 100ml Ceramic Co.o2 bottles are more related to expansion of profit margins as there's no way it needs room to expand 33%! :) I tried to checking prices on the KCx website but it's a mess trying to find anything.
So this product you put on and then shortly layer and buff off. Will it be tacky to layer and buff off? The ceratek says 5mins till it sweats. Is this stuff a minute or two? Every product is different, so just read their instructions and follow them? Any thoughts or recommendations?
Use a plastic grocery bag to show how much surface contaminate the iron remover and clay bar removes. Just put your hand in it palm down and drag it lightly across the surface. It is a very effective way to determine if you are getting results.
Hey Josh sorry to ask a question off subject here but what wash would you recommend for a semi? Something with alkaline to make most of the task at had easier. TIA
Koch Chemie is certainly a quality, well-known product, but their ceramic coating really flies under the radar. I didn't even know they had one, honestly. 75 ml though? I don't completely use a 30 ml bottle of coating on two cars. Unless you've got4-5 cars on deck to coat, you're going to be wasting product and money. Maybe KCx will offer a smaller bottle in future.
I did a full decon wash, clay towel and polish with a jeweling pad. Then coated with this coating. I swear it feels like there’s no slickness to it. My other car with uk3.0 is way slicker.
I did mine at home yesterday finally Got a good day weather wise as I don’t have a garage at my home I use armor shield great product easy application for DIY at home for beginners and it took me about 10 Hours most the day because I took my time and prepped from washing the entire vehicle claying and removing all contaminated things in paint, minor correcting with a polisher and then also prepping panels with an ipa wipe to remove any dust or finger prints on paint right before applying your coating went well I let first layer dry for a few hours and went in with second layer for extra protection so yea I was out all morning and mist the day but looks great and shiny and slick now waiting a day or two for it to fully cure and then 7 days before a wash so I’m excited
I just did my brand new car and I have never done it before. The hardest part is prep. The actual application of the ceramic coat is super easy. As long as you don’t have to do intense paint correcting, anyone with some basic skills and common sense can do it. But if you have dark paint with deep scratches, just do some test panels in hidden areas to get a feel for it.
As much as you think this might be redundant information , for the new guys and up and comers, this information is priceless....thanks

Josh, love your videos. What do you do to take a high you find after you have ceramic coated?
If the car is a new purchase do you think all these steps are still needed or do I have a small window to just ceramic coat the car? Thanks
Hi Josh, is the KCX training only available to the Winner (you announced it already) I am interested in the certification/training

Josh, What’s your opinion or have you used any of the Dr. Beasley products?
Great video. Very informative.
Thanks! I know it was a long one, but I wanted to cover as much as possible
A big thank you to all for this great video!!!
Thanks so much!

Josh, are the towels reusable, or use once and toss out, like the applicators?
Hey Josh sorry to ask a question off subject here but what wash would you recommend for a semi? Something with alkaline to make most of the task at had easier. TIA
Can this process be done outdoors if you are a mobile detailer?
So is this an on off or is it the 6 to 8mins as instructions indicated on instructions

Aye josh, make a review for the new Hart 6 gallon 175 psi Air compressor
Great video thanks Josh!!!

Great video and instructions!
Hey Josh, you have any links to get the M302 polish?
From start to finish, how long does it take to wash, clay, and apply ceramic coating? Obviously it “depends” on condition of paint…. 6 hours?
I did mine at home yesterday finally
Got a good day weather wise as I don’t have a garage at my home I use armor shield great product easy application for DIY at home for beginners and it took me about 10

Josh you are using the expensive products but you should have a table full of them. Like watching your vidoes
You can use any brand you’d like to, but the process is the same!
How many pads did you use to polish the whole truck? Or do you clean them after every panel?
We both used 2 each. It was just a 1 step enhancement so we didn’t go crazy
@@imjoshv Thanks for the response and for the awesome video. Can’t wait till you start offering in person classes.
What is the proper/best way to maintain a ceramic coated vehicle? Best soap/foam cannon/pressure washer, etc.
Never got a chance to ask Casey when i saw him but what type of clay sponges are those rated as, med or heavy?
It’s just a rebranded Rag company clay scrubber. It’s a medium.
@@Skdjiejxuje thanks
After the ceramic coatings can a vehicle be left outside during the 24hr period or should it be left inside for that time of curing?
Ideally inside but as long as it doesn’t get wet you can do outside
so can you use a clay bar instead of the clay sponge or mitt just curious
Absolutely
Josh, I'm local in SD and I emailed your dtlrsupply shop, but no one ever got back to me. I just emailed you again. How do I get ahold of you?
Can the microfiber towels be reused that were used to wipe the ceramic coat or are they a one and done cause the product won’t wash out?
Yea I typically dispose the towels after.
What pressure washer was being used for this video?
Active 2.0
Thank you
I know they have good products but they are so expensive.
Remember, you get what you pay for
The polishes do get pricey but most of the chemicals are a really good value when you look at the actual cost per use!
When you buy the products off the dealer truck its all discounted….
Isn’t this a product selling video, or actually a true opinion
Yeah.
I just watch the video to get the knowledge, though I won't do it with their products.
Would you ceramic a 10 year old car?
I really do appreciate this video! I want to start offering coating services but I’m scared of screwing it up

Start with a small area and build your confidence. You can absolutely do it!
Too easy!!
