I also took on Trailwalker this year for the first time, I did manage to finish it but unfortunately 2 of my team had to retire at 60km due to severe blisters. I can tell you it was the hardest physical challenge I've ever done! my knees were in lots of pain, luckily my brother-in-law and I managed to keep each other going. One tip guys- at each check point I smothered my feet in vaseline and had no blisters at all! The video cannot truly potray how tough the bad weather made it; wet, cold, slippery and very, very challenging. To stay motivated was really hard, so congratulations to all who finished and all that tried their best, it was killer! However it is a great experience and I will be there next year with my team- South Downs Stompers! Great video, thanks for sharing.

Awww guys! You have no idea how flipping AWESOME you are! I understand why you feel disappointed, but seriously, I am so incredibly proud of you all, and I hope you guys are proud of yourselves too. What you did, in those conditions, with so little prep, was nothing short of incredible! Well Done!! Not shy to admit I shed a few tears for you ;).

Congratulations on your first-ever trailwalker, completing 70 k is no mean feat. Your honesty and integrity throughout is admirable. How super your family was on board with supporting you including the gazebo, great idea. You will be prepared next time you decide to do this, every confidence you will finish. Well done on raising the money for the charity. Be proud of yourselves and happy you tried your best, tested your endurance. Take care of each other, your such a lovely couple.

Solid effort on no training - brought back (happy) memories of somehow getting all the way to the finish last year, battered and bruised, but euphoric! Would definitely recommend giving it another go.

thank you!! It was hard but we still loved it! Hopefully we will give it a go again next year as we can't do it this year unfortunately

I've so much respect for yourself & the team. You did magnificently well & certainly never failed.
Kudos to you for breaking through that psychological barrier at CP6, especially considering the physical toll your body had taken. You got it together again & pushed on -a true testament to your mental stamina.
Stay positive, take away the learning points from this years challenge & come back stronger than ever in 2018. 💪🏼
Huge props to Hollie's parents also for their support - That gazebo clip almost made me tear up!

Thanks for sharing your journey in such an honest and compelling way, James! I was out there filming too. My camera got soaked. It's a wonder it survived. We'd love to see you at Trailwalker next year again! - Micha

You did so well James, Holly and the team. I had to pull out between CP2 and CP3 as I pulled a hamstring and despite intense massage I couldn't go on. Two of my team completed it in 28hours and 13 minutes, it was very emotional experience and as I didn't complete it one that I will have to go through again next year! Another awesome video guys :-)

You guys are flipping awesome well done on what you have done. Don't feel bad, its hard to walk that far in in that short time.
I think out of all the videos you have done this is the best and the most exciting. I also had to watch all the way to the end to see how it all went. Poor Holy I just want to give her a hug.
Flipping brilliant channel my friends looking forward to the next one.
SEE YOU AROUND GLASTONBURY ONE DAY :)

Great effort team, to decide to join 2 weeks before the event and not having trained for it is madness but you showed the spirit, the strength and the determination to claim the title - you are Trailwalker Strong and nothing less. See you on the trail in 2018. (TW 2009, 2013, 2015 and CP8 volunteer 2016).

    Hi James,
I just wanted to tell that I was so proud of you and Hollie and your two other friends
In two weeks time you guys managed to walk a whopping 70km in a less than ideal weather
Yes, it sucked that you didn't get to finish the walk and to be honest I was expecting you to finish the walk when I started the video
But in the end, I was kind of glad that you didn't finish it because of this "twist" in the end, it really showed just how amazing you guys truly were
this wasn't a show, you didn't do this for clicks and numbers.
You did this out of the kindness of your heart, you failed the walk but you earned my respect and my support
Keep up the amazing work, can't wait to see what the future holds for you : )

Watched and very impressed. I did something of that length when I was 16. Iwas raised in the LDS church and they had us re enact the piomeer trek in a span of id say 2.5days and we traveled 30+miles in that time but we also slept in tents at night. And some of us pulled hand carts. So watching this ill admit it made me a smidgen emotional to know how tired and sore you were. I couldnt walk normal for a couple days after.

It's fine and what you have to do is to beat your time and length from this year and now what you guys have to do is to beat that time/length and make that your next year's resolution and make sure to prepare for this amazing Trailwalker challenge and hope that you guys are doing better than on saturday. You guys are stronger than what you guys may think, but your body is the one to give up and what you need to do is to even out your mind with your body to beat that challenge and hope that this works for you and everyone who does any challenge related thing to this and I hope that I can do this as well but maybe sometime in the future. Don't be down be happy about the accomplishment you guys made together because I'm for sure that when you guys first started were thinking that you guys were not going to make it even 10 kilometers so be happy about what you guys accomplished that day along with everyday and make sure to do this to push yourself to do better and more so you can be more productive than what you were then and to what you are doing now, hope that you are doing more and even being prepared for next year to beat your record along with everyone else that was with you guys. Hoep you guys are having fun and doing good.

I did the HongKong Trailwalker last year and happy to report that I completed it under 28h. We did not get rain though the temperature during the day was quite hot and at night, the big climb was fresh. It definitely takes you to your limits, I almost gave up midway as I was feeling bad due to bad management of the feeding, but 40min brek in the medic tent and I actually made it.

Piss poor preparation leads to piss poor performance.
You need to train for these events. The terrain, darkness, weather and hills will get you eventually if you don't prepare.
You need the full kit and you must stay dry at all times. I hope you signed up again and completed it.

My friend and I decided also to pull a challenge like this, two weeks before. It was a 70km walk, and after that walk i didn't feel like walking a single step more.
You got more than 70km which is insanely impressive.
