Other than the quick time events, it kinda got on my nerves how the game technically doesn't even have 10 stages, as 2 of them are just reversed versions of earlier stages. Really think this would've benefitted from a bit more development time to properly optimize the game and finish all the planned content (like the Tier 5 campaign that was rumoured) as it was a really solid game
Not only that. Have you heard of the Italian Pack DLC and the console exclusive cars like Tier 6 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X "Busuto"? Most of the signature edition were not longer obtainable like this Evo and the only obtainable are the Tier 5 Mazda MX-5 Tier 5 "T-Prime" and Tier 6 Porsche 911 GT2 (993) "Strade" and if we count the unreleased Tier 4 cars like Tier 4 Toyota Corolla AE86 GTS "Z3RO".
@@misterchips358 Ya But today's nfs games are like NOTHING Payback was dumb Rivals was copy and paste of hot pursuit 2015 tried to copy most wanted 2005 but couldn't Heat is trying to copy carbon ya but it couldn't
Adding some extra years worth of development time with some polish and a quick race mode with the Nintendo version's story (fixing some of the plot holes of course) with PC version quality cutscenes (in engine cutscenes) would make it way better than the PC version we got. Also don't forget that this version had classic NFS song remixes by Mick Gordon (the guy who did the soundtrack for Doom 2016, Eternal, and time trial races of The Run's PC version). Jack doesn't even have a true backstory compared to Matt (Nintendo version's hero). Matt was a professional racing driver before his best friend Jason's sister Wynona got killed by crashing Matt's car (because she was begging to drive a race car and Matt wouldn't let her so she took it one night and crashed, killed instantly) and that got him suspended to never race again. Then 11 years later, Jason attempted to murder him as revenge for his sister by sending hitmen to drown him in his car into the Pacific Ocean just before he could participate in the Run. Then he escapes his car and meets an unknown woman, we learn that she wants him to participate in the Run by driving her car. Turns out she is actually a mob boss's daughter and a government informant who has sensitive information about her family and is using The Run as cover to escape from the Di Marco Mob (her family). A few hundred miles later Jason attempts to kill Matt after he learns that Matt survived the murder attempt in SF. I can tell you more about the story, but this comment is already becoming too long to read. This story actually makes sense (other than the $1 million reward, but let's face it, the plot doesn't really let you spend any money) compared to the PC version but sadly the story got overshadowed thanks to the Wii/3DS version's LIDL status. Also, this version has more lines of story dialogue compared to the PC version. Not to mention that it has more cutscenes than the PC version. MW'05 started its development in late 2002/2003 as opposed to late 2004 (Watch the' NFSMW - 13 years later' video if you don't believe me). That's why NFS The Run needed 5 years of development time to be as good as MW. I have the Wii version and I like it for what it's worth. Also, thanks to Kuru for having both versions in a single video to give the Nintendo version the attention it deserves. Repurposing Frostbite 2.0 for NFS The Run took a whole year of development time that could have been spent on improving the game itself, imagine if BB upgraded its highly successful and reliable EAGL (aka Speed Engine) engine to 5.0 and made The Run on that engine. In case you didn't know, EAGL (EA Game Library) is the engine used for BB NFS games. NFS HP2 PS2 version and NFS UG1 used 1.0, NFS UG2 used 2.0, NFS MW and Carbon used 3.0, NFS Prostreet and Undercover used 4.0 (Undercover used a mixture of EAGL 4.0 and other third party engines). So The Run should have used EAGL 5.0 instead of Frostbite 2.0 so they could have used their development time properly. I wish EA invested some of their profit from FIFA games into NFS instead of being too greedy and not caring about the NFS series by forcing the developers to work with low budget and Frostbite. Frostbite is the reason new NFS games look like copy paste and worse than HP 2010, a 10 year old game. Criterion needs to abandon this engine and use HP2010 engine (Chameleon) or a brand new engine. Thank you for taking the time to read my long reply. I know, I put way too much effort into a reply of a comment.
@@elionthatblock9612 Look at Prostreet, it still looks great and MW on Xbox 360 was one of the true next gen looking games of it's time. Also it lets you drive Lamborghini Aventador and Camaro ZL1, cars you can't drive in the main version unless you have the limited edition.

The Run wouldn't be so broken if Black Box never used Frostbite to make it. Notice how HP10 and MW12 are more stable all Ghost NFS... Frostbite is really unstable
Lmao all of Black Box’s games were buggy messes. That’s just a Black Box problem. Playing their games on PC back when they came out was still like a bomb waiting to go off. Of course now they’re even more unstable because they’re running on much newer hardware and Win10 broke some stuff, but they really never were stable in the past except for Carbon. I’ve never had random crashes in Ghost’s games like I have with all of Black Box’s games. The only time I can get them to crash is if I’m forcing the game to do something that it shouldn’t be doing through mods. One reason Ghost’s games are less polished (in terms of bugs, not crashing) is that Ghost was managing a MUCH larger codebase than Black Box or Criterion ever had to, so of course that’s gonna introduce a lot of problems especially when they’ve been building off of Black Box’s wack code from The Run along with building every single one of their games basically on top of Rivals. A lot of things went wrong with the NFS series, but I don’t think Frostbite can be blamed for any of its issues.
