I think almost any Astros fan, including Jose Altuve, would tell you that Bregman isn't just a great ballplayer but one of those special guys whose attitude and experience make everyone else better. I think his impact on the Tigers would be massive. I hope it happens.
Could not disagree more. Bregman was the sign stealing scandal ringleader and took no accountability. His hitting is dropping majorly, walk rate dropping , this shows hes guessing more due to being late on fastball. Hes worth a one year contract- two at the most. Regarding winning in 2025 I say sign Bregman, as for after that I say no. His hitting is on a down trajectory.

I hate getting too excited about free agency but I gotta admit I like where we are at right now. We’re prob in the top 3 for Bregman and possibly the front runner according to some. I also think we are the favorite to sign Ha-Kim from what I’m reading. I’m not too excited about Yates, just because relievers are so unpredictable year to year, but I wouldn’t complain if we did end up signing him. Plus I really believe we are one of the more likely landing spots for Sasaki as well. If all 4 or even 3 (maybe 2 depending on which 2) of those happen I’d count this off season as a huge success. I know 1B is still iffy and we could use a decent right handed corner OF’er but wow we would be so much better than a last season, atleast on paper. I’m trying to temper my excitement but it’s hard when we are legit players on several of these guys. Please don’t let us down Tigers we’re so close to taking a giant leap forward!!
Regarding Bo Bichette and Toronto maybe trading him, the way free agency works is if the player does not want to sign with the current team like Skubal in Detroit often the team trades that player to get a p possible long term asset in return rather than letting him walk. You cant fault the team without knowing everything.Maybe Bichette does not want to play in Canada, who knows what his reason may be.
Never played 3B. And he led the league in errors for 2nd basemen in 2024. Yankees tried to play him at SS in 2021 and it went poorly. Also, Colt Keith was second place in errors with 12 among 2nd basemen, behind Torres, who had 18.
I love Bregman but anything more than 150 for 6 years is an overpay. He hits below average for the first half and turns it up second half, he'd be a good match for Detroit, but he peaked in 2019 & seems to be aging quickly.
Tigers sign Torres. Now they need to trade for Castillo. Seattle needs to fill 1B, 2B, and 3B. Tigers have Jace, Torkelson, and 2 guys in the minors who play 1B.

Torres was benched 3 times last year for a reason, just seems like they are giving up on Tork, Torres is terrible at fielding and base running and can hit a ball 400 feet every once in a while. And im asking because Bregman is still a free agent and the Tigers didnt offer another contract to him and I doubt they are still going to try for Bregman, thats why I asked.
