I actually cried more for three moments: when Spongebob felt too sad because he were too growing up to gain Grandma' kisses, when Gary gone away after Spongebob neglected it and when Mr. Hillenburg passed away....

The end of "Spongebob's big birthday blowout" never fails to make me cry. Same goes for "Have you seen this snail", I bawled when I first saw it.
The moments in that special I loved was that some of the older characters we haven't seen who came to Spongebob's party such as Neptune's daughter, Spongebob's parents, Flatts, the guitar lord who took over Squidward's tv show and even the strangler. I also loved the Trusty slab scenes where all the people who voices in the show were there....
It was just.... a blessing to me just to remember Stephen Hellenburg.... :)

Jennifer Bixley I watch a lot of “grown up” shows, but Spongebob is hard to beat. This is definitely the only “kids” show that makes the list for me.

I've never lost a pet, but I can relate to Gary running away, more in the sense of pushing friends away. Friends that never came back. It's an absolutely heartwrenching episode that never fails to make me teary-eyed. Especially when I think of all the friends I've lost.

How is this so sad I almost cried
I will admit that I still cry when I hear the Spongebob and Gary song and I cry with joy when Gary returns!!
But that one episode I feel was written to teach us a lesson about our animal companions!! Even Mr. Crabs was instrumental in getting Spongebob motivated to get Gary back!! His quote "a little bit of hard work will solve almost any problem".
Another moment I found really sad was in the episode, “The New Leaf”, when Mr.Krabs calls Plankton. It was a really heartfelt scene for me because Mr.Krabs was really sad and looked like he just finished crying. His character is this stingy, greedy, and sometimes even inconsiderate guy. The fact that he apologized to Plankton and genuinely meant it during the call really hit me. Even if it was for a plan in the end to counter Plankton’s plan. It was still really sweet and sad to see. It reminds me of a lot of painful experiences I’ve had where people have been hurting me, making fun of me because they think I’m ugly, and hurting my feelings. It just makes the whole scene more impactful for me and I love that episode.
