I think the worst, and saddest, thing that happened to Tom was in "Blue Cat Blues" when Tom blew all his money and life on the white gold-digging cat who only wanted the wealthy cat Butch. At the end, Tom, and Jerry, both sit on the train tracks waiting to die from their betrayals. So so sad! Also, 312 monthly payments at 112% interest? That's 26 years of payments at a totally exorbitant rate! That's what Tom gets for having a 410 credit score from an "easy credit" used car dealer! After all this disaster, Tom should have simply joined the Army and straightened his life out!

I find you can do that with Bert and Ernie as well. You love Ernie when you're a kid, but you relate to Bert when you're an adult. I don't watch Sesame Street regularly, but I find the nostalgia to be fun.

I mean there have been times where both Tom and Jerry would have to work together, like those three kittens that were being douchebags to both Tom and Jerry
I remember as a kid always being on Jerry's side (though I always confused which was which, so thought I was on Tom's side because I thought Jerry was the cat), but after watching 3 volumes of the show I'd managed to luck into finding in 2019, I found myself horrified how far Jerry would go at times for even the tiniest of slights from Tom, even ones Tom didn't even know he was slighting. On a few small occasions Tom brought things on himself, but more than 80% of the time, at least in the shorts on the DVDs in question, it was all Jerry in the wrong. And the levels Jerry would go to at times were just downright evil and sadistic. Holy cow!

Notice the smile on Tom's face after Grammy's car goes flying out of control. He knew exactly what he did. And you can bet that if his foot hadn't gotten tangled in that rope, he would have been laughing his tail off at Grammy's misfortune. He may be the victim in about %90 of this series, but that other %10, it's hard to tell if Tom is just pure evil or what. Whether he was aiming at Jerry or not, it doesn't matter. If that world had a legal system that's anywhere close to ours, the courts would have Tom's head for that one stunt alone. And after all the other crap he pulled in this movie, he'd be in prison until the sun explodes. Would Jerry be in there with him? Eh, probably. But whether Tom's the victim in this series or not, you can't exactly defend him from a life long prison sentence for killing somebody, especially when the ENTIRE VIEWING WORLD saw him do it! They established very early in that movie that everything they're doing is being broadcast on live television. Not even Phoenix Wright would take on that case. At the end of the day, yes, I do understand why people view Tom as the victim, but if WatchMojo were to do a list of the top 10 reasons Tom should be in prison, murder of an old woman and her dog would be in the #1 spot without a doubt. That is a far greater crime than anything Jerry has done to him over the past 80-odd years.
Through out the decades I always hated Jerry and Spike for they are just being jerks to Tom . . . I just see Jerry is just an a-hole in every episodes for getting Tom into trouble. I only WISH Tom would just win for once!
I feel like Spike has always been somewhat nicer for a bit. He's just trying to take a nap or take care of his son. He's a parent who just wants some sleep or getting his son to sleep 😂 and of course there's a crazy cat annoying him. At least he gives him a warning every now and then lol
Spike: may not care about Tom whatsoever but cares for his own son like a real father would do. Jerry: he tries to act like he doesn't care but he really does like when he went to manhatten on his own but found out it was hell for him he was really happy to see Tom again and happy to be back home. And d he felt guilty for Tom by seeing the guillotine come down on him. so really jerry does care for Tom when something really bad happens to him.
Let's be real here this should have been a top 50 because there's been far too much things that happened to Tom in so many different versions of the cartoon for him to be just limited to 10
Especially with the new versions and series that Warner Bros. is doing would already be more, because Warner (or Turner) gives the same bad treatment to Tom.
He actually won in a few episodes, i remember six, but in at least three of them he was the villain: 1.-In the episode when Jerry rescued Spike for the dog pound and Spike comes to help him if he whistle, Tom chase Jerry in this episode without any provocation, the episode finished with Spike caught again and Tom chasing Jerry. 2.-When Tom's owner gives his wife the ducky as present and Tom tries to eat him, the ducky and Jerry use invisible paint to scare him, but Tom founds them and the paint, he turned invisible and chased them at the end. 3.- Another one with the ducky when he tries to migrate to the south during the winter and Jerry helps him, the episode ends with jerry and ducky in a beach but tom appears in the sand, catch the with a bucket and cover the screeen with a parsol. As hero: 1.-When Spike's puppy takes a nap. 2.-When his cousin who has phobia of mice come to visit him. 3.-The white mouse episode (Not the explosive, the one when he paints Jerry and sold him to the pet shop, however, I don't know if call him hero in this)

Honestly, being attacked by over 100 bees (in the mouth) was easily the worst physical pain that Tom had to suffer, it was also one of the funniest moments I had ever seen on Tom and Jerry
I was expecting Tom's heartbreak to be number 1 and it was. I swear that moments when I watched it as I am 19 now instead of when I was still a child really left me feel sorry for Tom and maybe Jerry.
When you think about it, Jerry is the true villain. Yeah, Tom antagonizes Jerry but only when he is ordered to if it's episodes where he has an owner that tells him to get rid of Jerry, or if Jerry just goes after him for no reason when he was minding his own businesses. Especially since Tom ALWAYS gets punished for his actions while Jerry tends get off scot free.

Even when Tom has clearly lost the battle, Jerry can't resist creating one more painful moment for him. But at least there were occasional shorts where Tom was the victor (like "Million Dollar Cat").
I feel so bad for Tom especially on the nr. 1 part. It's just like in real life. Not having a chance to get a girl you love against a rich man is so devastating, horrible and soul-breaking. And yes, the girl is a gold digger which makes things more depressing honestly. Frik all rich people man.

Jerry is being a real jerk though, like most of the time, and Tom is being heroic. Kinda weird to think I cheered for Jerry as a kid
I don't get why Tom was sent to hell, He's a CAT, his job in that house is to catch the mouse! It was never personal until Jerry started to fight back/humiliate him! If anything, Jerry should be the one to go to hell because of all the crap he's done to Tom over the years. Edit: Also, on a different note, Tom Sitting on the Train Tracks is easily the single most relatable Tom's ever been. What we see here is Tom with what can be visually diagnosed as clinical depression, he has nothing left to live for and even his own body is no longer his (Literally sold an arm and a leg). The only peace left for him is the end that comes in the form of a Train. the Reason he scoots over for Jerry is he understands the pain Jerry is now feeling, and at the end of it, after all that Jerry has done to him, Tom sees him as the one person in the world who gets him.
To be fair, Tom usually does go after other smaller animals other than Jerry. Most of those cartoons were usually on his off time. Hell! That was even a couple of cartoons he was just after a duck, a few fishes, and a bird just for no reason that really had nothing to do with protecting his house or maintaining food.
I knew what was going to be on Number 1. When I watched that episode when I was a kid, I thought he was just sitting there all depressed. Back then before, i realized why he was sitting on the train tracks.
Man, these are some cruel moments, I mean Tom didn't deserve any of that, yes Tom can be a bit of a nuisance, but I think punishing him by almost killing him might be going a bit on the edge
A cool thing, Spike the Bulldog was originally voiced by Billy Bletcher, also well known for roles like Disney's Pete. Warner Bros character: Gabby Goat, and others.
Tom getting clobbered by his owners whenever Jerry sets him up is just painful to watch so to speak. However the guy from the Gene Deitch era, Clint Clobberer, did so the worst, he was easily the worst owner for him.
Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and Woody Woodpecker all debuted in 1940, with Robin the Boy Wonder appearing in comic books that same year. That's kinda cool to think about.
to be fair, now you need to make (top 10 Tom wins), I suggest the episode when Tom's coward cousin visits him and they both mentally break Jerry, that episode made me laugh as an Adult lol.
How about Nit Witt Kitty, where Tom gets hit on the head and thinks he's a cute little mouse annoying Jerry by being overly friendly. And one where Jerry opens a school for cat avoiding, but Nibbles ends up befriending Tom by giving him a bell. And Tom ends up kissing Jerry when Nibbles teaches him that cat and mice should be friends. And the ending of that's my Mommy, when Little Quacker thinks Tom is his mother, and Tom decides to accept him as a son.
Honestly, watching through most, if not all Tom & Jerry episodes, I have got to admit that the episode "Tom's Photo Finish" made Jerry a near sociopath. I know he tried to show that Tom framed Spike for some chicken but Tom begins to feel some anxiety as Jerry tries to kick Tom out and bring Spike back into the home, acting like a God to Jerry. This is the Tom & Jerry cartoon where Jerry is the true a**hole.
Even Number 2 Was Horribly Dark Where Tom Get Killed Off By The Guillotine, It Was So Terrible That It Scared Me For Life, I Wish It Happened To Jerry!
I’ve always loved cats, and as a kid I used to pretend to be one, so I often rooted for Tom. I did like when he would get squeezed into different shapes though. I’ve seen real cats that seem to have this ability, and it still tickles my funny bone!
Even that train didn't kill him. He was ran over by a couple of others before and after that cartoon. There was one cartoon about him literally just getting ran over by bullet trains back and forth each time he was booted out of a mall by Jerry.
While i think that Tom didn't deserve every bad thing that happened to him, a lot of times it's his own fault if he would just leave alone then all the things on this list could've been avoided.

There's even times Jerry has helped Tom only for Tom to go back on his word like the point where in the west episode, Tom said he'd share the food with him if he left, which he does, only to blast the contract.

One I truly hated was an 80's Filmation episode where Tom's owners sent Tom to a mouse catching academy and his teacher was Sgt. Spike who mentally and physically abused him whenever he couldn't catch Jerry who kept on tormenting him. And it was an unhappy ending for Tom when the whole class turned against him while Spike said, "It's gonna be a long semester." and he and Jerry smiled and laughed at Tom's torment.
I'd like a sequel to the one where Tom has the Heaven and Hell dream. Only this time, Jerry dies, and it is revealed that his own record is immense, filling hundreds of volumes, so instantly gets sent to hell with no chance to redeem himself... And this one is not a dream.
@@nowthatsjustducky How about this the episode plays out largely the same as Toms heaven and hell, but Jerry realizing that Tom needs Jerry's forgiveness to get him into heaven takes advantage of it to screw with Tom. Jerry welches on the deal and laughs as Tom is sent to the great hereafter. Feeling smug Jerry goes about his business until he has an accident and dies. The powers that be seeing how Jerry exploited Tom's kindness and sentenced him to damnation out of spite realize that Jerry is unworthy of heaven sentence him to hell. In hell, Jerry discovers that Tom has been converted into a demon and is now tasked with tormenting Jerry till the end times.
Growing up I saw Tom as a villain, but I loved seeing him and Jerry as friends or on mutual terms. I got that he was trying to eat a cat, but seeing bad things happen to him was kind of gut-wrenching or just straight up uncomfortable to see. It wasn't something that I admitted to myself though, because I grew up thinking I was abnormal and weird (social issues). But when I was 6 (or 7, can't really remember) I was at an after school club and one of the volunteer workers asked if I ever sometimes felt bad for Tom, and I said no because Tom was the bad guy or something like that. That question always stuck with me, and I couldn't see Tom and Jerry the same after that.
Poor tom. He never deserved any of the abuse he got. Jerry was the real villain. Tom was just trying to live his life. Btw: 0:53 pretty sure they committed suicide in that episode.
Hands down, I think the worst thing, or at least the most gruesome thing, that ever happened to Tom has to be when he attempted to "slip him a surprise package" in Mouse Trouble. Jerry literally impaled him and sawed him in half, and the worst part is that it did not kill Tom. He had to endure the whole pain, squealing in agony. At least the Block Buster bomb ended part of his suffering quickly. This, on the other hand, did not! 😈

10:10 They show Satan as a bulldog in a Sylvester and Tweety cartoon, which was perhaps an alternate version of Hector the Bulldog. Inspired by that common belief that dogs are enemies of cats.
8:40 I distinctly remember when Bro hid in a 🎁 and Jerry didn’t trust it so he took a bunch of 📌 to the box and then finally a 🪚 to the present and then checked after🤣🤣 to see if the Present was all good🤣🤣🤣
Pretty much 98% of the series and all the movies alongside tom and jerry kids there's only 2 episodes that I remember top of my head when tom's cowardly cousin beat jerry and when tom inherited a lot of money but he couldn't hurt any animals but he gave up the money just to hit jerry
There was that invisible mouse episode with little quacker. Tom ended winning that episode when he became the Invisible cat and chased them around the house, bludgeoning them with a fire poker.
There was one episode where Jerry and this grey mouse( not Nibbles) were harassing Tom while he slept. They even made him think he stabbed himself. Tom eventually held them both at gunpoint and sealed them in a bottle, before going back to sleep

He did not get away in "hiscuppup" where he try to frame tom so that spike will attack after that spike almost attack tom But he realizes his hiccups is gone he thank tom for that and jerry gone South because tom is going to kill and spike will Not care
Here's another, in Chuck Jones era there was a little dog who can eat anything very fast, sometimes he only eats Tom fur, in other scenes he was turned into saussages, but in some scenes he was EATEN alive by said dog.

Check that scene again. Notice the smile on Tom's face after Grammy's car goes flying out of control. He knew exactly what he did. And you can bet that if his foot hadn't gotten tangled in that rope, he would have been laughing his tail off at Grammy's misfortune. He may be the victim in about %90 of this series, but that other %10, it's hard to tell if Tom is just pure evil or what.
Whether he was aiming at Jerry or not, it doesn't matter. If that world had a legal system that's anywhere close to ours, the courts would have Tom's head for that one stunt alone. And after all the other crap he pulled in this movie, he'd be in prison until the sun explodes.
Would Jerry be in there with him? Eh, probably. But whether Tom's the victim in this series or not, you can't exactly defend him from a life long prison sentence for killing somebody, especially when the ENTIRE VIEWING WORLD saw him do it! They established very early in that movie that everything they're doing is being broadcast on live television. Not even Phoenix Wright would take on that case.
At the end of the day, yes, I do understand why people view Tom as the victim, but if WatchMojo were to do a list of the top 10 reasons Tom should be in prison, murder of an old woman and her dog would be in the #1 spot without a doubt. That is a far greater crime than anything Jerry has done to him over the past 80-odd years.
Through out the decades I always hated Jerry and Spike for they are just being jerks to Tom . . . I just see Jerry is just an a-hole in every episodes for getting Tom into trouble. I only WISH Tom would just win for once!

With everything Jerry puts Tom through, it just makes you want Tom to be the victor. Respect for Tom the Cat!
He actually won in a few episodes, i remember six, but in at least three of them he was the villain:
1.-In the episode when Jerry rescued Spike for the dog pound and Spike comes to help him if he whistle, Tom chase Jerry in this episode without any provocation, the episode finished with Spike caught again and Tom chasing Jerry.
2.-When Tom's owner gives his wife the ducky as present and Tom tries to eat him, the ducky and Jerry use invisible paint to scare him, but Tom founds them and the paint, he turned invisible and chased them at the end.
3.- Another one with the ducky when he tries to migrate to the south during the winter and Jerry helps him, the episode ends with jerry and ducky in a beach but tom appears in the sand, catch the with a bucket and cover the screeen with a parsol.
As hero:
1.-When Spike's puppy takes a nap.
2.-When his cousin who has phobia of mice come to visit him.
3.-The white mouse episode (Not the explosive, the one when he paints Jerry and sold him to the pet shop, however, I don't know if call him hero in this)

Honestly, being attacked by over 100 bees (in the mouth) was easily the worst physical pain that Tom had to suffer, it was also one of the funniest moments I had ever seen on Tom and Jerry
I was expecting Tom's heartbreak to be number 1 and it was. I swear that moments when I watched it as I am 19 now instead of when I was still a child really left me feel sorry for Tom and maybe Jerry.
When you think about it, Jerry is the true villain. Yeah, Tom antagonizes Jerry but only when he is ordered to if it's episodes where he has an owner that tells him to get rid of Jerry, or if Jerry just goes after him for no reason when he was minding his own businesses. Especially since Tom ALWAYS gets punished for his actions while Jerry tends get off scot free.

I don't get why Tom was sent to hell, He's a CAT, his job in that house is to catch the mouse! It was never personal until Jerry started to fight back/humiliate him! If anything, Jerry should be the one to go to hell because of all the crap he's done to Tom over the years. Edit: Also, on a different note, Tom Sitting on the Train Tracks is easily the single most relatable Tom's ever been. What we see here is Tom with what can be visually diagnosed as clinical depression, he has nothing left to live for and even his own body is no longer his (Literally sold an arm and a leg). The only peace left for him is the end that comes in the form of a Train. the Reason he scoots over for Jerry is he understands the pain Jerry is now feeling, and at the end of it, after all that Jerry has done to him, Tom sees him as the one person in the world who gets him.
Well, the fact that it was only a dream suggests that Tom himself feels guilty for what he's doing. That's even sadder.

To be fair, Tom usually does go after other smaller animals other than Jerry. Most of those cartoons were usually on his off time. Hell! That was even a couple of cartoons he was just after a duck, a few fishes, and a bird just for no reason that really had nothing to do with protecting his house or maintaining food.

Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and Woody Woodpecker all debuted in 1940, with Robin the Boy Wonder appearing in comic books that same year. That's kinda cool to think about.

And Tom ends up kissing Jerry when Nibbles teaches him that cat and mice should be friends. And the ending of that's my Mommy, when Little Quacker thinks Tom is his mother, and Tom decides to accept him as a son.

Honestly, watching through most, if not all Tom & Jerry episodes, I have got to admit that the episode "Tom's Photo Finish" made Jerry a near sociopath. I know he tried to show that Tom framed Spike for some chicken but Tom begins to feel some anxiety as Jerry tries to kick Tom out and bring Spike back into the home, acting like a God to Jerry. This is the Tom & Jerry cartoon where Jerry is the true a**hole.
The Number 3 entry for me is definitely THE worst thing that's happened to Tom, it just gives me nightmares about the whole situation and Hell itself.

I’ve always loved cats, and as a kid I used to pretend to be one, so I often rooted for Tom. I did like when he would get squeezed into different shapes though. I’ve seen real cats that seem to have this ability, and it still tickles my funny bone!

In the last one, Jerry showed that even though he and Tom are always fighting, deep down, they truly care for one another and are best friends.
One I truly hated was an 80's Filmation episode where Tom's owners sent Tom to a mouse catching academy and his teacher was Sgt. Spike who mentally and physically abused him whenever he couldn't catch Jerry who kept on tormenting him. And it was an unhappy ending for Tom when the whole class turned against him while Spike said, "It's gonna be a long semester." and he and Jerry smiled and laughed at Tom's torment.
I totally get that Tom was a bully towards Jerry but I feel bad for him to go through all the this stuff

Jerry welches on the deal and laughs as Tom is sent to the great hereafter. Feeling smug Jerry goes about his business until he has an accident and dies. The powers that be seeing how Jerry exploited Tom's kindness and sentenced him to damnation out of spite realize that Jerry is unworthy of heaven sentence him to hell. In hell, Jerry discovers that Tom has been converted into a demon and is now tasked with tormenting Jerry till the end times.

Although his appearance seems brutish. Spike can get quite creative when it comes to punishing Tom.
Growing up I saw Tom as a villain, but I loved seeing him and Jerry as friends or on mutual terms. I got that he was trying to eat a cat, but seeing bad things happen to him was kind of gut-wrenching or just straight up uncomfortable to see. It wasn't something that I admitted to myself though, because I grew up thinking I was abnormal and weird (social issues). But when I was 6 (or 7, can't really remember) I was at an after school club and one of the volunteer workers asked if I ever sometimes felt bad for Tom, and I said no because Tom was the bad guy or something like that.
That question always stuck with me, and I couldn't see Tom and Jerry the same after that.

Hands down, I think the worst thing, or at least the most gruesome thing, that ever happened to Tom has to be when he attempted to "slip him a surprise package" in Mouse Trouble. Jerry literally impaled him and sawed him in half, and the worst part is that it did not kill Tom. He had to endure the whole pain, squealing in agony.
At least the Block Buster bomb ended part of his suffering quickly. This, on the other hand, did not! 😈

There was one episode where Jerry and this grey mouse( not Nibbles) were harassing Tom while he slept. They even made him think he stabbed himself. Tom eventually held them both at gunpoint and sealed them in a bottle, before going back to sleep
