Whenever we see our mothers sad, life immediately feels nihilistic to us, and once we experience that feeling, we acquire a permanent fear of it. Just being happy may be the best way to raise children. I would say being happy but also making sure your children do stuff on their own immediately as they are cognitively capable of so. Like, once they have some basic hand and arm coordination they should make their bed, and should be obliged so. Nobody should ever help you if you don't actually need it. Otherwise you're effectively a pain in the ass.

She’s nothing like I would have imagined her to be. I didn’t have a bad image just a different image. I didn’t imagine her so cheerful, colorful, modern and vivacious. I imagined her as more subdued, quiet, proper, shoulder length hair, well dressed but conservatively with modest neural colors. I imagined her as someone who would not stand out in a crowd but his mom is going to be the life of the party!!!

That's the thing about adversity, it makes you or it breaks you. After 9 years of an abusive relationship, this lady was ready to enjoy life no matter what was thrown at her... Lots of hard work. Plus a little of good luck too.
What a beautiful strong woman inside and out. She so reminds me of my late mother. God Bless her soul, many similarities to my own mom because of how she married to please others instead of herself and how thin she was at one point, but like a phoenix, they rose from the ashes, from having nothing to having it all. Don't believe the statistics. I technically raised my kids on my own completely( my youngest was 10 months old) and the number of deviant, unruly, horrible kids I saw with two parents always amazed me while mine were well-behaved, creative, having dreams and planning their future. I did work at home most of the time so they were never alone in the evenings and I made sure I played, read and watched good, inspirational films together with them. They both turned out to be great, unselfish young adults, who don't waste away their life with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes or partying. In hindsight, being financially restrained was actually good for them, I realise now, as they can appreciate every little thing in life. I've also shared my love for animals with them and my persistence- I never give up. Strangely enough, my parents were not like that at all- I got my strength and optimism from my Christian faith, the Bible.
Ran away with the kids, wow! In Canada is child kidnapping persued if it's a domestic ab situation? And wonder if courts were no longer able to try it once kids were of age or there are no statue of limitations.
As someone who has always passed for a younger woman, I have struggled with getting older and this is the FIRST time I have felt like maybe it’s not “too late” to do those things I would like to do. Very inspiring and intelligent woman!
My mom has had an extraordinary life too, and I ended up somewhat following in her footsteps. My mom definitely enabled my being able to do so. Some criticism, but never any big disapproval. How, why? She's a very free spirit. She even successfully escaped from the first nursing home when could still walk around with her walker, and hitch hiked back to her house. Now finally in a wheelchair, in the second nursing home. A born warrior free spirit.

I see why Elon is the way he is. Good genes from engineer father and model, business woman mother. Lethal , powerful combination that made her children the geniuses they are today. All 3 kids doing extremely well and she was a great role model to her children. She seems humble, cheerful and grateful and resilient. Her children inherited her work ethic . She is a brave, inspiring lady.
Elon was mostly raised by his father though, of whom he greatly resents. As much as he hates his father, I wonder how much of that upbringing is what made him what he is today.
This is incredibly inspirational and I am so glad they did this interview. I can't wait to read her book and ingest her story in her own words. My favorite part is when she spoke about her childhood in South Africa with the desert and the camel brigade. She is a phenomenal person and her inner light is what shines out. Oh wow! I am 70 and have got through so many hurdles . I resonate with her ! I feel uplifted by this interview . And am going to definitely by her book . Thank you so much . How lucky I was to come across this . I live in An eastern cape little village in South Africa , working in my little Salon. I think I must get myself together and work harder . Follow her advice . That's the thing about adversity, it makes you or it breaks you. After 9 years of an abusive relationship, this lady was ready to enjoy life no matter what was thrown at her... Lots of hard work. Plus a little of good luck too.

What a beautiful strong woman inside and out. She so reminds me of my late mother. God Bless her soul, many similarities to my own mom because of how she married to please others instead of herself and how thin she was at one point, but like a phoenix, they rose from the ashes, from having nothing to having it all. By example, they show what smarts and determination plus hard work always rewards you.

I’m so glad I stumbled on this. She is such an amazing inspiration and hope for all us single moms who were in abusive relationships and who even in the face of having everything telling them the terrible statistics of kids raised by a single parent, still believe that their kids can and will turn out good and intelligent and successful and happy.
Wow I never thought about that. My mum was in an abusive relationship. This video would give her emotional strength.
Don't believe the statistics. I technically raised my kids on my own completely( my youngest was 10 months old) and the number of deviant, unruly, horrible kids I saw with two parents always amazed me while mine were well-behaved, creative, having dreams and planning their future. I did work at home most of the time so they were never alone in the evenings and I made sure I played, read and watched good, inspirational films together with them. They both turned out to be great, unselfish young adults, who don't waste away their life with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes or partying. In hindsight, being financially restrained was actually good for them, I realise now, as they can appreciate every little thing in life. I've also shared my love for animals with them and my persistence- I never give up. Strangely enough, my parents were not like that at all- I got my strength and optimism from my Christian faith, the Bible.
Ran away with the kids, wow! In Canada is child kidnapping persued if it's a domestic ab situation? And wonder if courts were no longer able to try it once kids were of age or there are no statue of limitations.
Her story is wonderful, an iron woman who did a lot and gave a lot for her children, wishing her success and lasting love

My mom has had an extraordinary life too, and I ended up somewhat following in her footsteps. My mom definitely enabled my being able to do so. Some criticism, but never any big disapproval. How, why? She's a very free spirit. She even successfully escaped from the first nursing home when could still walk around with her walker, and hitch hiked back to her house. Now finally in a wheelchair, in the second nursing home. A born warrior free spirit.

I see why Elon is the way he is. Good genes from engineer father and model, business woman mother. Lethal , powerful combination that made her children the geniuses they are today. All 3 kids doing extremely well and she was a great role model to her children. She seems humble, cheerful and grateful and resilient. Her children inherited her work ethic . She is a brave, inspiring lady.
Elon was mostly raised by his father though, of whom he greatly resents. As much as he hates his father, I wonder how much of that upbringing is what made him what he is today.

This is incredibly inspirational and I am so glad they did this interview. I can't wait to read her book and ingest her story in her own words. She is a role model to behold and I am sending her so many many many big hugs because the struggles of her life were much more than she was willing to unfold. My favorite part is when she spoke about her childhood in South Africa with the desert and the camel brigade. She is a phenomenal person and her inner light is what shines out. She is beautiful no matter what form the physical takes on and early on she learned to glaze it with a smile but she knows some secrets and I can't wait to learn from her wisdom. Thank you for sharing this special light of woman and her wisdom with the world.

I started watching videos of Elon and just found him fascinating in drive for everything he did and is doing. Then stumbled across this video. I never knew about his mother she is absolutely gorgeous inside and out!
I'm not surprised to hear all three of her children are successes.
I'm from Colorado I'm going to have to look up her son & go to one of his gardens sometime! It just goes to prove what you can do with perseverance and positive spirit.
Her not giving up attitude has definitely paid off for her and her children and for all who she's touched through her book and interviews.

I've read the book which was really fantastic and made me want to know more about this extraordinary woman. This interview is the best I have seen. Absolutely great interviewer, the questions and interaction are incredibly accurate. I got to know things Maye Musk didn't write in her book.
