You pay double for some things by the virtue of not being Dominican. For instance, even buying blood for a transfusion at Red Cross cost more. There’s a Dominican price or cedular price, and then there’s a non cedular price for foreigners who don’t have residency. And no, I’m not talking about the 18% tax they add on. Same goes in hospitals. Or housing. Etc… Back to Haitians. The Police will pull you over just to scam you. I’m speaking from first hand experience. I’ve been here for a month and have dumped some 25k in their economy. Mainly hospital bills. Police stopped us twice for absolutely zero reasons besides having Haitian tags and demanded money. It’s the norm here. I’ve seen the cage they pile them up in. It’s one of the reasons I said I wouldn’t bring my $ to DR. However, my Haitian father is gravely sick and you already know healthcare is non existent in Haiti so I had to bring him here. With that said, I’ll say Dominicans are all about their $. Once they see your USD, you’ll be king in their eyes and your Haitian-ness will be forgotten. It’s the poor Haitians they hate. Haitians here are the negroes of USA. Also being in the military they can teach you how not to get caught up because Uncle Sam does not play around with soldiers have kids overseas and leaving them behind. Not just in Latin America either will they do this Asia and, African, or I seen it in UK and Australia happens to military men. I have been to Dominican Republic Mexico, Lima, Peru, of course Columbia where I found my wife. Never has an issue with her next I made sure I followed the tips that others gave me and yes I always wore a condom even when she said she was on the pill. My wife was more concerned about getting pregnant than I was. She had a fairly successful dentistry practice and did not want to lose clients. So she made sure we practiced safe sex. Even now that we are in the states she is still on the pill as we want to wait a little before we start having kids .

For what it’s worth to mention here, I think it’s a good idea to have a network of friends and associates in any these countries that can mutually help each other or those new to the country visiting or staying a while. As for the Uncle Sam part with overseas kids via service men, yeah I aware of that part having served 10 years mostly stationed in Japan. As well understand a woman in a Latino country being a professional with a career and how it would affect her getting pregnant unanticipated. Great story though.

You pay double for some things by the virtue of not being Dominican. For instance, even buying blood for a transfusion at Red Cross cost more. There’s a Dominican price or cedular price, and then there’s a non cedular price for foreigners who don’t have residency. And no, I’m not talking about the 18% tax they add on. Same goes in hospitals. Or housing. Etc…
Back to Haitians. The Police will pull you over just to scam you. I’m speaking from first hand experience. I’ve been here for a month and have dumped some 25k in their economy. Mainly hospital bills. Police stopped us twice for absolutely zero reasons besides having Haitian tags and demanded money. It’s the norm here. I’ve seen the cage they pile them up in. It’s one of the reasons I said I wouldn’t bring my $ to DR. However, my Haitian father is gravely sick and you already know healthcare is non existent in Haiti so I had to bring him here.
With that said, I’ll say Dominicans are all about their $. Once they see your USD, you’ll be king in their eyes and your Haitian-ness will be forgotten. It’s the poor Haitians they hate. Haitians here are the negroes of USA. But if you have money, all is forgiven. And you will indeed live a good life. You just have to take some things with a grain of salt.

Also being in the military they can teach you how not to get caught up because Uncle Sam does not play around with soldiers have kids overseas and leaving them behind. Not just in Latin America either will they do this Asia and, African, or I seen it in UK and Australia happens to military men.
I have been to Dominican Republic Mexico, Lima, Peru, of course Columbia where I found my wife. Never has an issue with her next I made sure I followed the tips that others gave me and yes I always wore a condom even when she said she was on the pill. My wife was more concerned about getting pregnant than I was. She had a fairly successful dentistry practice and did not want to lose clients. So she made sure we practiced safe sex. Even now that we are in the states she is still on the pill as we want to wait a little before we start having kids .

There used to be a website I went to when I first started my journey unfortunately, there has not been that much action on the website but there are still A LOT of good information on there as guys were sharing their experiences both good and bad. I believe it was called Planet of Love do not quotes me on the exact name as it has been years since I went on the site. I would recommend that anyone thinking of finding a foreign bride or living a expat life in South America do check it out. The immigration process was laid out so much so that I had more info than our lawyer at the time.
For what it’s worth to mention here, I think it’s a good idea to have a network of friends and associates in any these countries that can mutually help each other or those new to the country visiting or staying a while. As for the Uncle Sam part with overseas kids via service men, yeah I aware of that part having served 10 years mostly stationed in Japan. As well understand a woman in a Latino country being a professional with a career and how it would affect her getting pregnant unanticipated. Great story though.

I had a female who tried to get me to take responsibility for her unborn child. When I told her that once the baby is born we are going to get DNA test. Three days later she told me she lost the baby. Next time bring a DNA kit from the states and give the child a swap and send it to a lab here in the states, you don't want to trust those doctors in DR.
