I have been watching your channel for a while now and it’s always so informative and entertaining. Just wanted to take a moment to let you know that I found this episode in particular very interesting and fun. Thanks for bringing us along! Enjoy your trip. 😊
I remember the days when I never had to look at the prices, because they were stable, not anymore,I have to watch the prices these days Costco is a life saver,it got so bad I couldn't shop at the grocery store no more and Costco was our life saver The only thing with Costco, you have to go early to catch a parking space, and don't try to get gas there if not around 10 am❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of those shelf stable milks that you picked up was lactose free for those with milk allergies. It is a good idea to buy the long life milk as it does not have to be in the refrigerator until after it is opened.
Cost of living is much less than Jamaica. Their fruits and vegetables are around 70% cheaper than yard. I don’t understand why our fruits and veg. are so expensive
The last time I came back, airport security asked me if I have cook food from Jamaica and I said no,the way he asked me I realized he was doing something very illegal 😅😅😅😅😅
Soai, every year, over 100 million USA families look for affordable places around the world to take there families, the beaches, the lakes, amusement parks etc When you visit other countries you got to show some beaches or hiking places Jamaica is reaping great success from you Jamaican RUclipsrs ❤❤❤❤
I work in a supermarket in the USA so I watch people grocery shop around the world to see what foods they are choosing and the prices of they products . I suggest you get an IKEA bag for shopping more items in one place instead of multiple bags.
Supermercado Nacional is also hood to shop at.Talking of Fabuloso the hotels dont really use such I formerly stayed at Hotel Atalaya on Avenida Contreras in Santo Domingo and whatever the maid used for cleaning it was good and I beileve it was a combination of various cleaning stuff and she used fabric softener as well.
Food is so expensive these days, but many things are coming down,we normally cook oxtail at Christmas,we didn't this Christmas, oxtail was 14 USA per pound,I got some at Costco this week for 8 USA per pound was so happy And 5 pounds of plantain for 3.49,I grab 2 bags, lol😅😅😅😅
Those eggs actually cost $110 pesos Dominican currency if you convert that to USA currency is $1.86 cents dollar pretty Better to what’s you pay in USA like 5 sum for just 14 eggs hell nah
Live in America 30 years and I cannot eat the Kroger brand eggs,I use to throw up so bad from it,and I found the eggland brand eggs, taste just like eggs from Jamaica so the last 30 years eggland, two years ago we switch to Costco brand❤❤❤❤❤
Call up a few of the restaurants and find out how much they buy saltfish for and make a deal or something where you make a profit and they come out still paying less soai❤❤❤❤❤
While you driving to these restaurants you sell the saltfish to the restaurants, like tia who restaurant got burn down Saltfish is expensive in Jamaica ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Another thing at most Supermercado Nacional you can buy cooked food by the kilo at a reasonable price. However, saltfish is expensive everywhere you go.If that supermarket is called 365 then perhaps they have changed the names or under new management.Wow you had a good shopping for that price my friend. Not too bad.I used to shop once per month and pick up any little chuckaments that might be needed later.
You can bring ackee to the USA? I didn't think we could,I remember one time I brought my cook food and when I reach Atlanta an officer asked me if it was cook food from Jamaica and he said I wasnt allow to bring it into the country and I gave it to him,he eat my food infront of me To this day I still felt like he lied to me but I never bring food from Jamaica to the USA❤❤❤❤
Fruits and vegetables are cheeper outside of the supermarket also there are supermarket brands way cheaper and the same good quality: wala brand, olé brand, bravo brand. You'll find everything and cheaper so i usually go to those supermarkets: Olé, Bravo, La sirena and Apresio the two last one owe the wala brand and the others one their respective names: olé brand and bravo brand. So if you move well around you'll save a bunch of money.
Why Jamaica grocery store food so expensive, the Chinese own most of the grocery store and control the price of most food products,I try to support black own grocery store because they may show us some mercy on the price of food❤❤❤❤
Not quite true about the Chinese ownership of grocery stores being the reason why things are so expensive. There is a “get rich quick mentality with many Jamaicans” of all color so they put high mark ups on their products. Then there is the government that charges heavy duty fees on many of the products, and we import most things in Jamaica. We make less things now than 15 years ago, even St. Mary’s banana chips I have seen marked product of the Dominican Republic. If I go shopping from the vendors and they find out I’m not living in Jamaica they jack up the prices. The authorities charge US$25 to get into Dunn’s river falls it should be closer to US$15. This all makes Jamaica one of the most expensive places in the Caribbean
@@luismanuelreyesRD For the most part they are also cheaper in Jamaica and in the capital Downtown Kingston if you buy 3 or more of the same items you get them at a wholesale rate. But if you are comparing them to a Pricemart which is a membership store then the Chinese store may work out more expensive but you don’t have a membership fee.
You can compare $1 for $1 because many food and non-food items are imported right? An economy with a currency of little value compared to the US $ that is also importing food will have its citizens paying more $$$. Additionally, in comparison to Caribbean countries, the cost of producing the same items should be similar however Jamaica's currency is so devalued that companies there criminally charge the citizens more in comparison to DR etc. Countries know how much their citizens especially average can afford to pay.
Wtf why its so expensive 😂😂😂inflation hits DR so bad 😢 still cheaper here in ASEAN 😅 your whole cart 🛒 can cost here maybe 3-4 thousand pesos atleast here in the Philippines 🇵🇭😅
If you really want to inform people you have to be honest and also go to the supermarket, like Nacional or Bravo and they have all the things we have in ny, I just hate and people have blogs to inform and are not informing
Wow so much cheaper! Everytime I go to DR I make sure to get their honey and vanilla to bring back home 💛
Cost of living and how much Dominicans are able to pay.
Greetings from Dominican Republic!! 🇩🇴 I hope you enjoyed our country
Loved it!
The price for those limes is per pound (lbs). So for $1 you get like 5 or 6 limes.
Good point!!!!

Hello, I am Dominican, thank you for visiting us. If you had gone to the Olé supermarket, the purchase you made would have been cheaper.
